Carla went ALL OUT on our breakfast. We got fresh fruit, tea, coffee,OJ a pressure cooked red/ yellow pepper Italian omelette dish ( I had two helpings),sausage, and a delicious dessert treat which was made with bran flax seed( omega 3s) and some other healthy things taste REALLY good. I wish i brought two stomachs. Carla is an AMAZING cook. We are both lactose intolerant and she accommodated that for every dish she made. The house was filled with interesting objects that made the place feel really nice & the silverware we noticed was real silver. Just a really nice place to stay. It;s also a good place to stay for sightseeing location wise plus it has a nice polite non-intrusive host. I highly recommend it! ( Not to mention there are many motels in the area and they all charge the same price as this BB) Stay here and get a good healthy breakfast instead!

The home is where Juanita Brooks lived when she wrote historical books about southern Utah. The location in the historic area of St George makes it easy to walk a few blocks to the historic buildings, art museums, and restaurants. There is an excellent hike which begins two blocks up Main Street. Carla's breakfasts are comparable to a 5 start restaurant. We recommend not eating very much the night before so you can be prepared for the fabulous dining experience. The home is decorated with art and antiques which adds to its flavor. You will not find a modern shower, instead there is an antique deep bathtub, which only adds to the experience of staying in an old house for a a few days. Enjoy.

From the creative and thoughtful touches that Peggy (owner/manager) has put into each element of each space in this 1800's home, to the neighborhood, and the delicious breakfast, this is definitely a "must stay" spot for us if we ever return to the St. George area! Truly exceptional and caring staff who run this place beautifully. And the spaces are great for relaxing after a day of travel, hiking or anything - with lovely porches throughout the lot that this home sits on. Each room is lovingly decorated in a storybook theme, with rooms like Alice (for Alice in Wonderland theme), Josephine (for Little Women) and Sherlock (for Sherlock Holmes). Complimentary breakfast was super cute & arrived on time for both mornings we were there. I took a star off because... A) no one was at the check in desk when I was waiting for 10min to check in - there was a sign saying that stepped away for a moment, I waited & waited until someone told me to press 0 on the phone (the hostess from the restaurant side had to tell me) & I arrived right at check - in time. B) for the price a microwave & full - length mirror in the room would've been nice. Overall, the stay was nice & we would recommend, but I don't think it was worth the price per night.

And let's not forget the second B: the breakfasts were healthy, tasty, and beautiful to behold. Paradise indeed! We will be back!

I had such high hopes for this b and b after reading the reviews and seeing photos online, but…read moreunfortunately it was a disappointment. It was not made clear during the reservation process that Room 3 does not have a standard shower. Instead, it has a claw-foot tub with a handheld shower head that must be held while showering, or the tub can be used for bathing. I believe this should be clearly disclosed so guests can make an informed decision before booking. The description of "European style shower" does not make it clear that you cannot take an actual shower in the room. We actually wound up getting passes for the Zion canyon hot springs just so we could shower during our stay. I understand this is a historic inn, but that does not eliminate the expectation of basic accommodations, such as a functioning toilet seat and an adequate supply of toilet paper. When we checked in, the toilet seat was cracked, and there was only a half roll of toilet paper provided. I messaged to ask where I could find more, and I was told someone would bring it that evening. By 9:00 p.m., nothing had arrived, so I followed up and asked whether I should go to a nearby store to purchase toilet paper and a replacement toilet seat, since the one in our room was broken. The owner/manager called me and said, "I didn't realize this was such a crisis for you." I found that response unnecessarily dismissive, rude, and unprofessional. He also told me the toilet seat would not be repaired during our stay, but then explained where I could find additional toilet paper myself. I was disappointed that this information was not provided when I first asked several hours earlier. The following day, the toilet seat was replaced. I guess although he didn't think it was a "crisis", he did realize having a functioning toilet seat was important. The inn has historic charm, but the property appears run down and in need of better maintenance. It is possible to preserve the character of a historic building while still keeping the infrastructure and basic amenities up to standard. This place has a great deal of potential, but in its current condition and with the current level of management, it does not meet the expectations of a 3-, 4-, or 5-star stay. The highlight of our visit was leaving the inn to eat breakfast at Oscar's. The food was delicious and this was the best part of our stay. There is no one consistently on site to assist with issues that arise during a stay, no traditional check-in or check-out process, and no one actively monitoring the property. Unfortunately, the combination of poor communication, dismissive management, and the lack of basic amenities resulted in a disappointing experience. I would not recommend staying here.
