The quality of the frames is almost unbelievable for the cost AND he always includes the hardware! Even the shipping is done really well. I took a chance and ordered a 3-pack of float frames online from Canvas Place. Rupen let me know the frames would ship in a week or so. They just arrived and are true to size and well-constructed. Really happy with the quality and price. Thank you! read more

I made a somewhat large order of frames to get my exhibit ready to hang. The quality of the walnut floating frames was perfect.

I ordered from Canvas Place online. I have been looking for walnut floating frames for a while and saw these. They shipped quickly and after unpacking what was probably the most securely wrapped package I have ever received, I was able to get all of my artwork into the new frames and back up on my walls. They are wonderful! They are very well made and came with all the hardware needed to secure the canvas in the frames. The walnut color was just the shade I was hoping for and goes perfectly with my room. DO NOT ORDER WOOD PANELS FROM THIS PLACE I kept thinking if I should leave a bad review or not, but here I am I gave Rupen more than 4 chances to prove me wrong. I thought maybe he was going through something personal. Or maybe he didn't have enough staff to help him out. Nope, he was just unprofessional and made panels out of the worst wood he can find. The first panel had a huge HUGE split in the wood right at the top. I let him know that since I stain the wood, the wood must be in great condition. The next panel had another chip in the corner, and the large wood panel after that had not 1, not 2, but 3 black holes. It took some skillful maneuvering to change the artwork just so I can hide them. Seriously, don't waste your time. just spend a little bit more at a professional place. read more

I ordered 20+ custom frames from Rupen a couple of weeks ago. About 5 business days later, they were finished and ready for pickup. Every single one is just beautifully crafted with exact precision. They are very durably built and feel as though they will last forever. A big, big thank you!! read more

Awesome products and customer service! I'd been looking for a place to make custom stretched extra wide (2.5") canvas for upcoming commissions I had. After researching and making numerous phone calls to many places, I was thrilled to find Canvas Place and correspond with Rupen. His quick response and turn around time was fantastic. He communicated every step of the way. When I arrived only 48 hours after ordering my (53 x 39 x 2.5"), Rupen's brother Sarkis (it's a family biz) was right on top of things and happy to assist. Canvas looks great. Stretch is tight. Corners are folded beautifully. The support bars are plentiful. The canvas is pure quality craftsmanship. And their prices are the BEST in town! read more

This place is great. Each time I deal with Canvasplace I am more impressed than the time before which is impressive as they always give 5 star service! I discovered this gem when my partner needed a custom built canvas for a commission. I called a LOT of places because I like to shop around and do my research. There were shops who could not make a canvas as large as I needed. Others quoted me crazy insane prices. Some had long wait times for custom made canvases. I was fortunate to find Canvas Place. Rupen replied almost instantly to my inquiry email. I was impressed as others didn't even bother. Next, the pricing. The quote almost seemed too good to be true after talking to many other places and getting quotes twice as much! Next was the turn around time from ordering to delivery. Again, faster than any other shop! Rupen worked with us throughout the entire process and even put up with all my questions with complete and professional answers. So I placed the order. When the canvas was delivered it was even better than I had anticipated! It as amazing and delivered right to my door! Do not waste your time searching for a place because this IS THE PLACE for all your needs! They have amazing prices and can do what others consider "impossible" and do it right! Top notch, Outstanding, Highly recommended and used by professionals such as Nestor Toro who is an abstract artist in Los Angles you simply can not do better for your canvas and framing needs. The customer service will blow you away and Rupen is a pleasure to work with! He really knows his stuff and is a true professional. The art business is full of snobs and elitist attitude and you will NOT encounter that nonsense here. I simply can not recommend them enough! read more

Canvas Place and Rupen are as good as it gets! I cannot say enough about their customer service. Rupen worked with us to get frames to our site for a photo shoot on a very tight deadline. Fedex managed to lose one of the boxes, and Rupen moved heaven and earth to make it right and get us our frames (which he personally sent out again) overnight. And of course the artwork looked stunning in his frames. We are so grateful to him and Canvas Place for going above and beyond, and we look forward to working with them again in the future. The frames are fantastic quality and their prices are hard to beat. It's nice to know there are still highly reputable companies you can trust in this world. read more

I just received my first online order from Canvas Place and could not be happier. The floater frames i purchased are true to size and great quality. They were easy to install the painting into with just a screw driver. I understand minimum quantity requirements on orders but I do wish I could order one frame per size instead of groups of 3 or six. However, I understand it makes shipping is easier. I will purchase again and I recommend them to all my artistic friends! read more

I first saw canvas place on eBay when I was looking for modern floating frames for me ams my husband's artwork. We were very happy with the quality of craftsmanship, black finish, style, and the way our canvas sat in the frame I ended up ordering directly from them on their website two more orders! In my second order they had accidentally sent me the wrong size, and contacting Rupen via email was very quick and easy. He emailed me a return label and I was able to get them exchanged for the right size. We will be ordering more in the future when we need more frames!framed read more

I ordered multiple packs of frames at this place in April and I had very bad experience. The frames came very poorly made, with cracked corners and dirty canvases. When I asked for a refund, I received very mean, completely unprofessional and offensive emails from Rupen (who I believe is a business owner). This is an exact quote from one of the emails from Rupen : "You don't have to split the return shipping either because of your extraordinary status as a person of superb taste and discernment." I sent the frames back and I got my refund. However, the whole experience left a very bad taste in my mouth. I've never experienced the worst customer service. I have no idea where the good reviews come from, because the quality of the frames and the way this business treats their customers are unacceptable, and I wonder how this establishment still exists. I scrolled down reviews on this page and found a few reviews which describe similar experiences to mine. I wish I read them before ordering from this place! Stay away! read more

The prices are tempting, but the skill level and craftsmanship aren't worth it for professionals who want to resell their work. It's almost like buying something from china off the internet. Update: the owner comments that this review is a vendetta or something? Not true. I bought from him 2 4ftx4ft wood panels and only one was barely useable and I had to take it because I was by that time in a time crunch. I asked him to remake the 2nd. He was rude and weird to me about it when I came for it. So Ruben refused to rebuild the second one and refunded me half my money in an odd abrupt way. Wasn't sure what happened but it doesn't excuse the shoddy work. read more

I really like this place, why? It is all made in Los Angeles, Californian! They have one of the best customer service ever and very personal. Awesome prices and amazing quality canvases! Okay, I've worked with a lot of different framers and people in the canvas/framing business, but these guys are the best. They care deeply about what they do and their customers. The quality of canvas stretching and materials is first-rate and the service personal and prompt. They also do really nice floater frames that are incredibly inexpensive. This is not really a walk-in retail outfit, but they welcome individual artists to stop by with questions and to pick up orders. Just email or call them first. ROCK ON, CANVASPLACE!!! read more

Very nice frames, perfect for enhancing my work for the gallery. I was apprehensive about ordering frames after a couple of bad experiences with other companies. No worries here, frames were securely packed and padded well. They arrived in perfect condition. read more

Quality looks like it was produced by a Jr High woodshop I needed a 3'x7' panel made for a custom painting. I was pleased with the price they quoted, so I mistakenly went ahead of the order. I can see why they make you pay the full amount in advance. I had to rent a pickup truck to transport the panel upon completion, so I was doubly screwed when I showed up to see the numerous errors they had made. First off, they neglected to glue the flimsy bracing boards which happened to be poorly nailed crooked. The hole thing was flimsy and wobbly. Secondly, there were 4 large scratches down the painting surface. Next, the edges of the big board were extremely splintered, which any woodworker worth a grain of salt would know means you are using a dull saw blade, need to raise the blade height, or need a zero clearance plate. Lastly, the timber they were using was of horrible quality.... more like what a tree would crap out, instead of what a beautiful birch tree would produce. The other reviewers that gave positive reviews must be affiliated of coerced to right these comical reviews. If quality is of ANY concern, don't give them another look. If you don't care about your work being built correctly or lasting long, then they would be a good fit. read more

Do not order from Canvasplace. I was so excited to have found a company that made floater frames for a very reasonable cost. This is definitely a case of 'you get what you pay for'. I have ordered a total of 30 frames from Canvasplace, and out of those 30, 5 had defective areas on them (chunks of the frame missing, attempts to fix malalignment with black spacers that are very noticeable on a light maple frame, placing a ball of wax where a chunk of a frame was damaged instead of replacing the piece prior to shipment, etc.). While this is frustrating given I order the frames as clients order paintings and thus need them right away, I understand that things happen. When attempting to receive replacements for these 5 frames, Rupen was extremely unprofessional, rude, and condescending. When I explained the defects in the frames that clearly occurred prior to shipment (as they were botched when someone tried to fix them) I was told "I am not sure the replacements would be any more satisfactory." When I explained that I have received many satisfactory frames in the past from them, I was told "I don't think we're a good source of frames for you. We sell very inexpensive frames for a clientele with a certain set of expectations.". I wish I would have known before investing money in these frames. While my standards are high, as I want my clients to be perfectly happy with their final product, my standards are simply to receive frames that do not have damage or defects on them. The company claims to have "quality handmade floater frames" and that "satisfaction is guaranteed". This does not at all match with what I have been told by Rupen. It is unfortunate that they are one of the least expensive companies selling similar products, as this is what they are using to justify the production of their defective product. I desperately wanted to love this company, and gave them 4 chances because I believe in second chances and because the prices are so amazing. After putting up with Rupen's unprofessional nature 4 times, I'm not sure it's worth it to allow him to take advantage of me as a client just because their frames are inexpensive. Notably, he refused to reimburse me for 2 frames, and I am still trying to receive reimbursement for the final 2. I very rarely write bad reviews, but I felt it my duty to help other artists and clients avoid these problems. Rupen will likely deem this as a "retribution review" as it appears he has done with a similar complaint by another client in the past. This is not the case. I'm hoping to prevent future clients from becoming one of the multiple people who have now complained about the same unethical business practices. read more
