DO NOT ORDER WOOD PANELS FROM THIS PLACE I kept thinking if I should leave a bad review or not, but here I am I gave Rupen more than 4 chances to prove me wrong. I thought maybe he was going through something personal. Or maybe he didn't have enough staff to help him out. Nope, he was just unprofessional and made panels out of the worst wood he can find. The first panel had a huge HUGE split in the wood right at the top. I let him know that since I stain the wood, the wood must be in great condition. The next panel had another chip in the corner, and the large wood panel after that had not 1, not 2, but 3 black holes. It took some skillful maneuvering to change the artwork just so I can hide them. Seriously, don't waste your time. just spend a little bit more at a professional place. read more

I discovered this gem when my partner needed a custom built canvas for a commission. I called a LOT of places because I like to shop around and do my research. I ordered multiple packs of frames at this place in April and I had very bad experience. The frames came very poorly made, with cracked corners and dirty canvases. When I asked for a refund, I received very mean, completely unprofessional and offensive emails from Rupen (who I believe is a business owner). This is an exact quote from one of the emails from Rupen : "You don't have to split the return shipping either because of your extraordinary status as a person of superb taste and discernment." I sent the frames back and I got my refund. However, the whole experience left a very bad taste in my mouth. I've never experienced the worst customer service. I have no idea where the good reviews come from, because the quality of the frames and the way this business treats their customers are unacceptable, and I wonder how this establishment still exists. Update: the owner comments that this review is a vendetta or something? Not true. I bought from him 2 4ftx4ft wood panels and only one was barely useable and I had to take it because I was by that time in a time crunch. I asked him to remake the 2nd. He was rude and weird to me about it when I came for it. So Ruben refused to rebuild the second one and refunded me half my money in an odd abrupt way. Quality looks like it was produced by a Jr High woodshop I needed a 3'x7' panel made for a custom painting. I was pleased with the price they quoted, so I mistakenly went ahead of the order. I can see why they make you pay the full amount in advance. I had to rent a pickup truck to transport the panel upon completion, so I was doubly screwed when I showed up to see the numerous errors they had made. First off, they neglected to glue the flimsy bracing boards which happened to be poorly nailed crooked. The hole thing was flimsy and wobbly. Secondly, there were 4 large scratches down the painting surface. Next, the edges of the big board were extremely splintered, which any woodworker worth a grain of salt would know means you are using a dull saw blade, need to raise the blade height, or need a zero clearance plate. Lastly, the timber they were using was of horrible quality.... more like what a tree would crap out, instead of what a beautiful birch tree would produce. The other reviewers that gave positive reviews must be affiliated of coerced to right these comical reviews. If quality is of ANY concern, don't give them another look. If you don't care about your work being built correctly or lasting long, then they would be a good fit. read more

Do not order from Canvasplace. I was so excited to have found a company that made floater frames for a very reasonable cost. This is definitely a case of 'you get what you pay for'. I have ordered a total of 30 frames from Canvasplace, and out of those 30, 5 had defective areas on them (chunks of the frame missing, attempts to fix malalignment with black spacers that are very noticeable on a light maple frame, placing a ball of wax where a chunk of a frame was damaged instead of replacing the piece prior to shipment, etc.). While this is frustrating given I order the frames as clients order paintings and thus need them right away, I understand that things happen. When attempting to receive replacements for these 5 frames, Rupen was extremely unprofessional, rude, and condescending. When I explained the defects in the frames that clearly occurred prior to shipment (as they were botched when someone tried to fix them) I was told "I am not sure the replacements would be any more satisfactory." When I explained that I have received many satisfactory frames in the past from them, I was told "I don't think we're a good source of frames for you. We sell very inexpensive frames for a clientele with a certain set of expectations.". I wish I would have known before investing money in these frames. While my standards are high, as I want my clients to be perfectly happy with their final product, my standards are simply to receive frames that do not have damage or defects on them. The company claims to have "quality handmade floater frames" and that "satisfaction is guaranteed". This does not at all match with what I have been told by Rupen. It is unfortunate that they are one of the least expensive companies selling similar products, as this is what they are using to justify the production of their defective product. I desperately wanted to love this company, and gave them 4 chances because I believe in second chances and because the prices are so amazing. After putting up with Rupen's unprofessional nature 4 times, I'm not sure it's worth it to allow him to take advantage of me as a client just because their frames are inexpensive. Notably, he refused to reimburse me for 2 frames, and I am still trying to receive reimbursement for the final 2. I very rarely write bad reviews, but I felt it my duty to help other artists and clients avoid these problems. Rupen will likely deem this as a "retribution review" as it appears he has done with a similar complaint by another client in the past. This is not the case. I'm hoping to prevent future clients from becoming one of the multiple people who have now complained about the same unethical business practices. read more
