The Cantonese Kitchen is the kind of place I make an effort to drive to for a special treat. Perhaps a little bit more expensive than a standard Chinese takeaway but this family run place is well worth the visit now and again.
All of the food is excellent and I can highly recommend the hot and sour soup (guaranteed to shift a cold), the wun tun soup, aromatic duck (the quintessential Cantonese dish but just as good here as a restaurant in town) and classics sweet and sour Cantonese style or king prawn kung po. Soups are around £2, duck is £7 and mains are around £5.
They have some very reasonable set menus. The waiting are is lovely, much nicer than most takeaway places. However if you don't fancy the wait you can always call ahead or they deliver within 3 miles for £1. They also take credit cards.
