My golly yes. Best cashew chicken I've had since Joplin's House of Yen closed down more than a decade ago. The sauce has actual flavor, not just a brownish salty consistency. It's awesome. I will come back, even though this place is a little bit ratty and crowded and the door was constantly opening & closing on a very cold day - I get it, people, everyone in Springfield needed to pick up delicious Chinese takeout! Awesome place, great prices...the wall of awards and accolades was a surprise to us until we took the first bite of our food, and then it made sense. My husband loved the sweet n' sour shrimp and we're both planning what to try next time. I'm kicking myself for waiting so long to give Canton Inn a try. read more

So its my 1st time to Springfield & my husband said it was awesome chinese food. Well I was sorely disappointed. The food was boring & bland. I must be spoiled by the awesome chinese food back in Colorado. read more

EWWW worst food I have ever eaten. I threw my food out and went to Wendy's next door. if you like a Chinese place that uses one sauce for everything and just adds or takes away things to call it a different sauce this is the place for you. service was friendly but food not so tasty. read more

I personally didn't like the way their chicken was cooked and tasted, but their rice and eggrolls were very good. Service was nice and the establishment was clean. Fair prices and good location as well. read more

I really dig Canton inn, there I said it. I know as Springfieldians we all have our one Chinese joint that we are partial to and this was not "one of my places" until I tried it for the first time. Now after my experience I would definitely put this on my list. Man oh man their cashew chicken is on point, all of the fried sides are delectable (Egg rolls, wontons, crab rangoons, etc...) and the fact that it is high quality white meat makes a big difference to me as well. The staff was super friendly and very punctual, the parking lot was spacious and completely available, and last but not least the buffet was really clean. I repeat the buffet was clean! This can be unfortunately rare, but this place is all around pretty high quality, I will definitely be back! read more

I live in Pennsylvania and this was my first stop right off the plane. The owners are so incredibly nice and the cashew chicken is one of a kind! My family and I crave it. If you haven't tried it, it's a must. read more

I've been going to this restaurant for years and it's been amazing but the past few times I've went the chicken is nothing but tendons and gross bits in the chicken maybe that only bothers me but I can't eat here anymore read more

Reminds me of the Cashew chicken I grew up with. Them, Leong's and Master Wang's were the places that served the best in Springfield. They all had their own taste. A must try for good original cashew chicken, Springfield style. read more

Best Chinese place in town, hands down!! The only downfall is they don't give refills on soft drinks, so I always get sweet tea!!

"The General Chicken was good and not too spicy, and my wife and kids like the Chicken Fried Rice. Plus they have a student discount!"

Food was great. Close to Bass Pro. Don't let appearances fool you. Had the Cashew Chicken combo. For $5.50 you get a hearty portion of chicken with fried rice, an egg roll, and 2 wontons. It was cooked fresh and served hot! read more

This is the place to go for original Springfield style cashew chicken. Get the cashew combo w/ all white meat. It comes with two wontons, rice, and an eggroll. Get an extra eggroll, because the eggrolls here are the real star. They're homemade and when you're lucky enough to get the fresh ones they're incredible. I'd recommend getting your order to go since the interior is cramped, dated, and honestly kind of gross. read more

Best Cashew Chicken and Sweet & Sour in town! Best price too... : ) Order a side of chicken wings, or the combination plate if the special doesn't fill you up. read more

This is some of the worst Chinese food I've ever had. I honestly wouldn't even feed it to my dog.

BEST. IN. TOWN. Words cannot describe the excellence of all things canton.

I have been coming here with my family since I was young and now am almost 33 and still eating there. It's been like a tradition, even in my family now. Never eaten a bad dish or ever been disappointed there. This has got to be my all time favorite Chinese ever and I and I am from Springfield. Keep Up the great work! We just moved closer to canton inn and were immediately excited by this lol read more

By far the best eggdrop soup in town! Fast, clean and delicious. They have a wide variety menu so there is something delicious for every one. Don't leave without their crab rangoon, it's outstanding. Highly recommended read more

Our hotel's manager, and numerous other family friends had high recommended the place, and we wanted to try some Springfield Cashew Chicken, so we figured it was worth a try. It was a generally pleasurable experience, the atmosphere was fantastic and really friendly. The service was great, and the two server's were absolutely fantastic and super nice, but not in an overly-talkative ways. It was super small, but if you're into it, they have outdoor dining as well. I ordered the General Tso's Chicken, and it was pretty good. It had a very interesting and different taste, and that's because instead of regular stir-fry, the chicken is battered and fried. The sauce was less sweet and spicy, and more sour. So the taste of it wasn't exactly overly appealing to me. And another thing that bothered me, even though I totally understand why they do it because my parents own a restaurant, they charge for re-fills. That chicken made me thirsty! But then, I had the thing that really made the Canton Inn great: the egg rolls. They taste absolutely fantastic, and the textures off the filling and the crust worked absolutely perfectly together, and it tasted really great. Needless to say, I'd go back and have lots more of the egg rolls, and maybe a bowl of egg drop soup. read more

I've had food from Canton Inn on & off for many years. The 'good' from dishes I've tried: General Chicken w/ all white meat, Vegetable Combination w/o msg & extra spicy (very bland otherwise), vegetable fried rice, crab rangoons. The 'bad': cleanliness of the place, the fish tank, the ability of the staff to converse with English speaking customers (esp. in regard to a question about ingredients in a dish), the size of the restaurant, no refills. read more

This was a place my friends and I hung out at in high school. My wife and kids and I still enjoy it. We no longer are in the area but eat here when we can. My youngest and I had dinner here, the best cashew chicken anywhere, the best egg rolls anywhere. Really good crab Rangoon and delicious General Chicken. This is always a 5 Star review from me. read more

My favorite place to get cashew chicken. Hands down the best I have ever had. They are generous with the portion sizes as well. Great memories. read more

Good food and as noted by one the previous reviewers has been around for many years. This means something in a 'cashew' chicken market that contains Mexican restaurants serving the dish. read more

My favorite chinese spot. I always get cashew chicken or chicken fried rice. It is always good and always freshly made.

I live around the corner. I love Canton Inn and will continue to go there BUTTTTT, the food is bland. Bland Ton Inn. Everything. They rely on the ingredients natural flavor to sell the dish. There is absolutely zero flavor on any dish. The generals chicken is a joke. The egg foo is great when they remember the gravy. Egg rolls are meh. Wontons are trash but the rangoons are pretty good. Hot and sour and egg drop soup are delicious. Veggie combo soup is the blandest thing you EVER tasted. Christopher Columbus sailed the world for spices and 527 years later Canton Inn overlooked the memo. Tons of food for your money so it's a mild win. Killer lunch specials. Moo goo gai pan is butt. $5.50 after tax for all white meat cashew chicken is clutch. Trying to be transparent here. Careful what you order. Load up on duck sauce and hot mustard. The place stays busy. I just hope one day they serve actual Chinese food instead of this bland nursing home trash. read more

This is the absolute WORST Chinese food I have ever eaten. I ordered General tsao chicken meal. Fried rice was tastless and cold. The chicken was warm with sauce poured over it. I do not think they cooked the sauce and chicken together. Horrible! Eating area dirty. read more

Dirty floors, dirty tables, dirty fishtank, dirty soda machine, dirty silverware... hate to see what the kitchen looks like,,,

Always good one of Springfield's best little places foods hot fresh and good prices...

extremely small almost a to go order only place but the cheapest best food in Springfield.

On July 13, 2011 I tried Canton Inn for the first.. and last... time. I bit into my sesame chicken and fried rice to find something white that at first resembled a piece of chicken. As I began to cut into it I found it to be a piece of already chewed chewing gum. Whether it fell from someone's mouth during the cooking process or was placed in the food intentionally I know not., but there was no mistaking its existence. As my appetite was lost I threw the remainder of my food where it belonged... in the trash. I called Canton Inn to inform them of this mistake. I initially asked to speak to a manager and was told "there is no manager here, you can talk to me." The individual on the phone did not identify himself or his position. When I relayed the disgusting mistake in my food I was told that I could bring in my plate of food with the gum to receive a new item. I relayed that I never intended on trying their food again and that I wanted no consolation gift, but them to know that one of their employees [or more] had made a mistake that might have made someone ill and either not felt comfortable informing their manager that an entire batch of either rice or chicken should be thrown out or had done it intentionally. Canton Inn? I think not! read more
