I travel a fair amount for work and on occasion after a long day I just want to order take out and relax in my hotel room. On my recent trip to Springfield, MO I had a craving for Chinese food. I used Uber Eats to find the highest rated spot in the area and was happy to see they had one of my go to meals, Roast Pork Egg Foo Young. I ordered the combination dinner which comes with Fried Rice and an Egg Roll. I had a sweet tooth and gave their Almond Cookies a try as well. The order arrived fast and fresh, thanks to my delivery driver Jeffery. The portions were very generous, the food was hot and very tasty. I'd say it's one of the better Egg Foo Young's and Sauces I've had from a Chinese restaurant. The Fried Rice was fresh and the Egg Roll was well stuffed, crispy and had a great taste. For dessert I had Almond Cookies, they were the perfect sweetness to top off a good meal. My fortune cookie fortune was fitting for the week of business meetings I was conducting. Overall it was just what I was looking for a stay in dinner. I'd check out China King on West Republic Road again next time I'm craving Chinese in Springfield. read more

OK. I'm from San Francisco where we probably have the best Chinese food in the USA. So being in the middle of the country, I wasn't expecting anything great. Considering that it's Springfield, it's just OK by my terms. Essentially self serve. Order at the front counter and they bring you the food. My hot and sour soup came in a big plastic container. Guess they thought that I would take some home, which I did. Zero ambiance in a strip mall, clean restrooms, straight forward menu, good amount of food for the price, no alcohol. Super happy with my first try here. I had broccoli and rice with hot and sour soup. I noticed in some of the earlier comments that preference was for the China king on Republic so I came here. I've been coming to Springfield for years and have never found a reliable Chinese food place. This was easy, tasty and the price is right $8.11 for lunch. I did not order a drink. The chicken was cooked appropriately. The broccoli was nice and crunchy and there's even some random carrots that are also done to my liking. Which is a little bit on the crunchy side. The food temperature was hot and not dry. Plenty moist. They seem to be doing a no bus pick up. This is even here in the middle of the afternoon. I consider that a good sign. read more

Got General Tso's chicken. Some of the chicken tasted like chicken, some of it like something else. The rice must have been Uncle Ben's, flavorless. The broccoli was literally cold. Did a group order from here to-go and service was efficient and food was delicious! Our group had the honey-walnut chicken, the sesame chicken, the stir-fry with tofu, and crabrangoons. Everything was really fresh and all of the sauces were great! The only thing that was a semi-disappointment was the broccoli as a side, it wasn't seasoned but tasted very fresh. Okay two things to note! 1. The chicken & broccoli is very good (see photo). Also, if you like the thin Asian style deep fried chicken, then you will love the lemon chicken, has a good dipping sauce (made primarily from corn syrup). Additionally the egg rolls are good, but very similar to other Asian restaurants, and the same goes for the grab Rangoon's. 2. Downside, the other deep fried options are to greasy for my liking and are served with dark meat, that is a hard pass for a white meat only guy. Overall, a great place to get a family style dinner but not great for an individual order. Has lots of flavor and generous portion sizes. read more

One of my favorite go to places for some quick Chinese food. Their crab Rangoon are my favorite in town by far. I almost always get the triple crown. It comes loaded with shrimp, chicken and beef along with plenty of vegetables. It's enough for two people or two meals for one person. Excellent service every time I eat here. Order at the counter and within two minutes they have the crab rangoon at the table. A few minutes later they have the entrees delivered to the table. I LOVE THIS RESTAURANT! I'm very picky about my Asian cuisine and I loved it! The general chicken, fried rice and crab-ragoons were very delicious. The plating was very upscale for a low-end restaurant. The people were so nice! Cons: The broccoli was undercooked and unseasoned. They were out of sweet tea. UPDATE: Their potstickers were as good as I could have hoped! The thick wrapper (handmade?) has just the right amount of chewiness, and the filling was meaty and flavorful. I declare them to be the finest potstickers in Springfield! We also tried the Singapore noodles, and they were exactly what we were hoping for - lots of flavor, shrimp and meat, really well executed. We didn't try the bourbon chicken, because frankly I knew that the sweet & sour chicken was REALLY good and I didn't want to risk it. Maybe some time when I'm less hungry/picky! PS. I'm a wonton fan, especially with a big piece of pork in the middle. They used to have the best, but something changed in the taste of the pork, still decent. I know this isn't "legit" Chinese food but it's definitely NOT your standard Springfield Chinese food! I love the Pinapple Chicken and the General Tso is good too!
