Got food poisoning last week from the shrimp fried rice I ordered twice along with my sister and roommate.

My son and I came here to try the food. We've been in Springfield for a few years and haven't had any luck finding good Chinese food. Well we walked into the restaurant and it was very nice inside. Great decor very clean and modern. They have all the condiments laid out which is a plus and you can see all the cooks and the kitchen. We ordered the General Tso chicken with Crab Rangoons. My son gave it the thumbs up so we will be back! The Crab Rangoons were also delicious.. The staff is pleasant as well. read more

Your typical non- Chinese Chinese takeout place. Taste good for the stuff they make. Nothing fancy about the restaurant itself and the food is typical of the pork fried rice, General Tsao, crab Rangoon and lomein variety. read more

Very clean and friendly. The service was relatively fast considering food was fresh! We ordered the sesame chicken, the bourbon chicken and pineapple chicken. All three were tasty and the portions were on the larger side. Even the hubby has to take a "to-go" box! I'd eat here again :) read more

I'd go there for the potstickers and crab ragoon. The potstickers seem to be made in house instead of the frozen ones other places put out. The crab ragoon are over stuffed and have a sweeter filling then most of the places I've tried. The $6 lunch specials come with a lot of food and although they feature the same dishes every other place offers (sesame chicken etc..) the food is made fresh and tastes great. To say you have to try the China King version of Crab Rangoon is an understatement! I don't know what they do differently than other places, other than more cheese, bigger pieces, generous portion (8 BIG pieces) and perfectly fried, this item could be a meal by itself! The Chicken Chow Mein had lots of chicken, crispy vegetables and not a soup of sauce as happens all too often at less caring establishments. I am here on business and regret the expectations for my home Chinese places have been raised. One recommendation is make sure you capture whatever sauces and chopsticks you want before you leave as I had to request these or I would have been at the hotel without them. Wow! Delicious and fresh and so, so underrated. God, why doesn't Portland have good, inexpensive "Chinese" food like this?! The meat for the sweet & sour chicken was perfectly cooked: moist, tender white meat with a light, crispy breading; the broccoli in spicy garlic sauce was simply wonderful. The sauce for my broccoli dish was a little sweeter than I like, personally, but my palate is uncommonly geared toward the savory. This food did not taste like some random strip mall spot, which it appears to be at first glance; it was refined, fresh and extremely well executed by the cook in the back in a timely, yet careful manner. GREAT food! When I first moved here, for the first month, my gf and I frequented this place at least twice a week. The food was very fresh, and it was always very consistent. Every time, I had the General Tso's chicken (large portion) as well as the rice. The GT sauce was SO good that I decided to get a side of it with every order. Most times the chicken had plenty of the sauce already on top of it, but I didn't care. I still dunked it! :-D I would use the side sauce on the white rice as well. We were in town again last weekend and had to visit the King. My dinner was spicy beef broccoli and my Husband had the general chicken. Now, to us, we believe the general chicken should be relatively spicy but this had no spice at all so maybe ask for extra spicy. The crab rangoon was so great, the filling is creamy with real bits of goodness unlike most rangoon i've had in the past. The absolute best part I love about "The King"? Visiting family and wanted Chinese Food. Went to Yelp for help - usually never steers me wrong. Found this place with 4.5 stars - impressive! That feeling only lasted until we got home with the food. As someone else mentioned, not a good value. $20 for 2 people and only 1 appetizer? OK - won't break the bank but more than we usually spend for carryout. The food? Well, if quantity is the only concern, then, yes, you do get a lot of food. Whether you'll feel like eating all of it is another matter. We found the food to be extremely bland and lacking in flavor. The egg-roll - even Chinese mustard couldn't save it. The fried rice? Never ordered it before and received tan rice without a single extra ingredient - no eggs, veggies, etc. Pork? Probably frozen slices - tasted like the fridge. Hate to be so negative but this place was a huge let-down. Am a huge Chinese food fan and have visited most all in town. China King is my favorite and you'll see me there at least twice a week. Everything is prepared fresh al la carte and I've yet to be disappointed. While the egg rolls are great, you gotta try their crab Rangoon! (best in town). One fine Sunday I had a serious hankering for bourbon chicken. I would have rather been hit by a car than have to trek to the mall during this glorious holiday season, so I set out to the Chinese joint to me at the time- China King. It sits in a strip mall but the building itself is clean and comfortable. The bourbon chicken was amazing- not too corn syrupey and the crab Rangoon was delightful. We are not from the area and decided to try this restaurant based on the 4 1/2 star rating. When we first walked into the restaurant, we thought we were going to be disappointed. It looked like an average "Mall" place...Nothing special at all...BUT the food was fantastic!!! We agree with other reviewers that crab rangoon is great!! ..Light, crispy, hot, fresh, filling tastes wonderful! I had the $5.95 Garlic Shrimp lunch special. I kid you not when I say it is the best shrimp I have ever tasted at a restaurant!...Large pieces of shrimp, perfectly done...WOW! The sauce was so different from other restaurants too. It was not all soupy but it was thick and the flavor was absolutely wonderful! read more

Great place all around. However when triple eight's is just as good and a few bucks cheaper, China King is irrelevant.

I had their Singaporean Vegetables with added fried tofu. Lots of veggies, with a typical Singapore sauce that you'd expect from any Chinese take out place. It was pretty delicious, especially compared to my friend's lunch special meal- Springfield cashew chicken. That was basically chicken nuggets with cashews thrown on top. It looked and tasted gross, not at all what you'd think a cashew chicken dish would be. It almost made him puke. Mixed feelings, but overall not a bad pitstop when you've been driving for 5 hours. read more

Love this place! We always order to go, and they never mess it up. They make vegetarian tofu dishes! Hard to find in Springfield. They also cater to my crazy requests, and make fantastic food. One of our regular spots! Szechuan tofu with broccoli, mushrooms, and rice. Delicious. read more

This place is awful...Not clean, Drink dispenser needed serious detail cleaning.....fried rice did not look like any I had ever had, little bits of gross chicken..rice and green onion..Soy sauce bottles on the table were nearly empty...service was ok at best. This is the best Chineese take out in Springfield. My favorite is the egg foo young, which comes with pork fried rice (the egg foo young is either chicken, shrimp, or pork), but I always buy from the lunch menu because the portions on the dinner menu are so large. You can also eat your meal in the restaurant because they have several booths and tables. Overall, just a very pleasant experience (the food always tastes great, just like I remember from New York). read more
