We had an incredible dinner that we'll always remember. We both have seafood allergies, but the chef was able to prepare an amazing 7 course meal tailored to our needs. We loved the wine, the presentation, and the great service as well. The chef is truly an artist.

Changing menus every Monday, Canto del Mar is the signature restaurant of the Marquis Los Cabos resort in Los Cabos Mexico. Run by Executive Chef Thierry Dufour, the restaurant has two seating of up to four couples (6 and 8 pm) where a 5 course meal is served (7 if you count the palette cleansing sorbet and the amuse bouche...I don't) The food was excellent, the service top notch, and the included wine was surprisingly good. If you're staying at the Marquis Los Cabos, treat yourself one night...and give Canto del Mar a try.

We started with the morel ravioli appetizer, which was fantastic and very well-executed. They were nice enough to plate them individually so it was easier to share. The bread service was amazing (don't skip it), and the potato amuse-bouche was such a thoughtful and delicious way to start the meal. I had the octopus, which was cooked perfectly -- tender with a great char -- but honestly, the bone marrow carpaccio that accompanied it was the star of the plate. It added so much richness and depth of flavor that we found ourselves wishing there had been even more of it. My wife ordered the totoaba, and it was excellent. The fish was delicate and perfectly prepared, but the caper sauce absolutely made the dish -- bright, balanced, and packed with flavor. Service throughout the evening was polished, attentive, and warm without being overbearing. To top it off, they surprised my wife with a special birthday presentation featuring a fruit sorbet, which was such a classy and thoughtful touch. It really elevated the entire experience. Overall, this is a true special-occasion spot in Cabo. Beautiful atmosphere, refined cuisine, and top-notch service. We'll absolutely be back.

The menu is an elegant blend of Mexican and French cuisine, and once again, it did not disappoint. I started with a very smooth Patrón martini. For appetizers, we ordered the tuna tartare and the morels, and for our mains, we had the red snapper and the totoaba. We skipped dessert, but since it was my birthday, they surprised me with a stunning presentation of coffee macarons (see photo). As always, every dish looked like a piece of art, and the live saxophone in the background added the perfect touch to the evening. Will we be back? Absolutely. Thank you for another wonderful night, Café des Artistes.

Bleu is (now) a charming small restaurant in the residential area northwest of TS off of Las Playitas, and Hector is a the well-recognized owner/chef. His background is extensive, drawing from well beyond the small TS community. Arrangements began with setting the reservation and a pleasant Whatsapp conversation about the menu. At this time, the restaurant takes one reservation per day, typically for dinner. Between Hector and his very capable daughter we never wanted for anything, service was unobtrusive but always there. We began with Apertifs - Aperol spritzs, done just right - just past sunset. The patio is situated on a bit of high ground with a classic view looking west over the Pacific. These were followed by gazpacho shots and words can't really describe the layers of flavors, we could have finished pints of this. Bleu salads came next, perhaps a dozen ingredients, dressed just right and the best set of greens we've had on this trip (or at home for that matter). Between the two of us, main courses included split and char-grilled locally-caught crayfish (or clawless lobsters if you prefer), grilled Sonoran beef NY strip and delicately sauteed Cabrilla sea bass. These were accompanied by a great selection of grilled vegetables, toasted baguette rounds and garlic butter, and brought on lavishly set platters. Desert was worthy of the meal, a delicious rich chocolate cake for two with perfectly-brewed (coarse ground) French-press coffee. The meal was fantastic, but was just one component of a perfect 2-3 hour experience that I cannot recommend highly enough. All I'll say about price is that its not something most would do nightly but we considered it an exceptional value and felt very lucky to have the opportunity. Salut Hector!
