The best Asian food I've tried in Buenos Aires. Every dish was delicious and the service was wonderful. A true gem of a restaurant that will have many options at affordable prices. After dining at all the highly recommended places, Cantina Sunae was my favorite restaurant for my week-long trip in Buenos Aires. If you're craving Asian and Asian spice, make this your #1 spot!

Roti con curry - best dish on the menu!

5+++ stars for sure! This place is A-mazing!!! The atmosphere is very cool, the staff is very friendly and the food is probably one of the best meals of my life! I had the Roti Canai with Curry to start. This was probably my favorite dish, which seems weird, because there is not much to it but WOW the flavors were perfect. The curry was so rich in flavor without over powering the Roti - a perfect combination. The Sio Mai was another amazing choice. It came with 5 smaller pork dumplings which were cooked perfectly! Sometimes I am weary about dumplings because the noodle can be soggy, not here!!! The dumplings also came with a small side of chili sauce which was the perfect pairing if you like spicy. Next was Khao Soi, a recommendation from the waitress, and guess what also delicious! Again the egg noodles were cooked perfectly, they gave a generous portion of chicken without being over bearing, the added veggies herbs and sauce complimented the dish perfectly and the crunchy noodles on top created a perfect texture combination. Finally dessert...I had the Carioca Pop. Rice balls with fruit and purple potato ice cream. Sounds weird I know but I can most closely compare it to sticky rice and mango from a flavor stand point Definitely worth a try, you won't be disappointed!

Delish sweet potato kao soi : ) with veg spring rolls and straight from the bag Terra chips in the background. : (

As a vegetarian visiting BA, I was thrilled to find this pan-Asian spot that had a full vegetarian menu and was just blocks from my hotel. A bright neon light beckons you inside where the tall ceilings and natural decor transport you far from the streets of Palermo. The kao soi with sweet potato was a great combination of flavors and textures, and it was a nice touch to send a sweet, English-speaking server our way when they noticed my companion didn't speak Spanish. He seemed to enjoy the fried tofu entree, but the veggie spring rolls were unfortunately not memorable. Gotta admit I was seriously disappointed when served the "plantain and sweet potato chips" to find out that it was a small cup of straight up Terra root vegetable chips I could easily buy at the store, but the place is such a unique spot for Buenos Aires that I'll let it slide this time.

Great place ! We are visiting from US and have had some of the best Asian fusion food in the country and this place stayed up to the reviews and name ! Our server was fantastic. Gave great suggestions on appetizers and enteres. Would surely try their cocktails. For the apps the roti canai was awesome. Had Pho for dinner "yummmy". It's a must go in BA !

The bao starter is super tasty with some added Sriracha sauce. The steamed bread could be a little bit smaller but it is very light so a minor complaint. The mains we tried have all been good. The yellow thai curry with chicken is tasty but does not resemble an authentic thai curry and is probably the least favorite of the ones we tried. The brisket is super tender in a sauce with lots of spices. We also had a pork dish ghat was great and a fish dish that was very light, two pieces of excellent fish in a clear perfumed broth with pineapple. All the dishes on the menu originates from Thailand, Filipines or indonesia and no argentina style food at all - something more restaurants should try. Been two times already and going again to try the rest of the menu, we sat close to the kitchen and could watch all the dishes going out and wanted to try the all.

Amazing experience here. Closed door restaurants are like permanent pop ups in peoples' homes here in Buenos Aires. This one was decorated exceptionally with beautiful, festive lanterns for light. The food was amazing! And they were able to give me a 5 course vegetarian option, so I couldn't be happier. The presentation was spot on and everything was perfect. A+- especially for Valentine's Day.

This place is SO good. My favourite restaurant in Buenos Aires. Sure, there are great steak houses I enjoyed but what are the chances some of my favourite Asian food came from South America. Christine is an artist. Go here. The Khao Soi was better than anything I've had in Chaing Mai. My wife is Filipino and made sure I knew that the Filipino food was off the charts. Fantastic!

Sincearly enjoy the change in food options. We got the Roti Canai with Curry - Malaysia, sweet potatoe and plantain chips, and pumpkin khao soi. The flavors were just right right. The atmosphere is cool as well.

My husband and I have been in buenos aires for about two weeks now .... And I've had enough of steaks and empanadas.... I really needed my pho fix ... I was definitely going through Asian food withdrawals! Chef Sunae is a great chef. Everything is flavored well with just the right amount of spices. Her pho had no msg and taste great only thing that was missing was Thai basil leaves which may be difficult to find here. But her lovely rich broth and fresh noodles made up for it!

Wonderful coffee ganache desert with condensed milk ice cream

She didn't come until 30 minutes later because she was doing other things. Finally when she arrived she didn't clean the table but instead asked us if we were ready to order. It took another 20 minutes for the food to arrive. The pho is probably the worst pho I've tasted in my life. The flavor is nowhere near how a pho should taste. Even the boxed stuff is better. The restaurant is modern looking but cleanliness can be improved.

We were greeted right away and got to choose our own seat, the menus are in Spanish and although they had a QR code for what I imagine is a menu in english, unfortunately it never loaded. The place was pretty much empty so we got our food pretty quick. I had the pho with beef, the broth was alright, it needed more flavor so I went ahead and added some condiments to my liking. I was surprised that my noodles were not spaghetti thin like I'm used to in the states, instead they were wide rice noodles which I normally have whenever I have Thai food with some veggies and rice. The pho was alright, I feel like I was chasing a flavor that never came, it wasn't terrible but it wasn't great and for the price, I expected more because yes, it was pricey. Now the fried pork rolls wow, UH-MAY-ZING! They were rich in flavor, nicely golden , crunchy on the outside and a little chewy on the inside, just perfect, they came with lettuce leaves on the side and some kind of shredded pickled carrots and radish marinated in some sauce, that was sooo good too. Honestly I'd go to this place just for the rolls. For drinks, they had a list of wines, beer, sodas and lemonades. I was intrigued by the sparkling hibiscus and it did not disappoint, it was served with some slices of grapefruit and it was very refreshing, I would have loved if it was sweeter but that's just my preference. Our table had napkins/chop sticks, soy sauce and hot sauce in the middle for our consumption. I would probably come back for a quick bite with friends just to have the fried rolls and because the service was quick, I probably wouldn't have the pho anymore. Be mindful that it is pricey, specially for Argentina. I paid very close to what I would pay if I were to eat at a Vietnamese place in NY.

It was the only thing I ate for the day, so provenance isn't in doubt as to place, though as to what caused it? Who knows. Most likely either raw veggies or hands that weren't properly washed. At the same time, it's not the sort of place that felt like that would be a regular occurrence, and they were mortified when I contacted them about it, and promised to sort it out. Which made me think I ought to give them a second visit. As did the fact that the place comes recommended by at least a couple of foodie folk I know. On, however, this visit, and looking at just the food, they have a lunch special for 200 pesos ($8.50) that includes a choice of appetizer and a choice of bao. For the former I went with a classic Vietnamese nem, or fried springroll. It was tasty, but a bit oily inside because, as you can see from when I flipped it over, one entire side is open. That's the kind of thing that you'd think someone plating the dish would have noticed and started over again. For my choice of bao, I went slightly unusual with the fried chicken one, because, well, fried chicken. Actually pretty good, and the "broken potatoes" rock. I could just go in and eat a plate of those. A small bottle of ginger ale washed it all down. Negative, I'd have liked to try a second bao, but the only way they offer it is in combo, and the minimum combo was a 170 peso bao with another appetizer, more potatoes, and another beverage, none of which I wanted. They weren't willing to sell just a bao, even though I'd already eaten a full combo. That strikes me a little inhospitable and inflexible. Which made me think I ought not to give them a second visit... but... ...eventually, about three weeks on, giving them another shot won out. On my second visit, they've dropped the lunch combo, and now simply charge more for each individual bao, each of which comes with those great broken potatoes. They've expanded the appetizer offerings, or maybe they're just non-bao offerings, as they're all roughly the same prices., somewhere between 120-150 pesos apiece. They did, however, change that great vinegary dipping sauce for the potatoes too, and now offer up a sort of milky, near flavorless liquid that made no sense to me. Like watered down ranch dressing. Tried two of the bao (they won't serve one without the potatoes, so if you want more than one, it's a lot of potato - I didn't even eat half of them). The clasico is a sweet, hoisin sauce glazed pork belly, the sweetness offset nicely by pickled beets; the bondiola is a slow braised pork shoulder with a sort of cabbage slaw. Both delicious. No ill effects. They do pick out one of the half dozen bao offerings daily at lunch and offer it as the day's special, dropping the price for whichever one it is from 150 down to 90 pesos, which is a bargain! Bring back the spicy dipping sauce for the potatoes, and maybe let folk who want to order a second bao get one without a pile of potatoes, and I'm sold.

"no" - it looked more like a trendy bar, and appended the moniker "Resto-Bar" to its name in its public image. I imagined mediocre fried "street food" snacks and colorful cocktails and loud music. But, on a recent evening, adrift for something different to do solo, I made a quick reservation and headed over. Now, some of what I imagined is true. Though, very little. You enter into a bar, packed with all sorts of trendy looking bottles and apparatus. The greeting is exactly what I expected - neither of the two bartenders nor manager even looked up from the computer screen they were intently engaged with - and, other than pausing to make a drink now and again, they stayed in the same position the entire evening. A hostess greeted me not with "good evening" but, "do you have a reservation?" I got the full look up and down while the asking was going on, and then the studied minute over her clipboard when I responded affirmatively, followed by an, "oh yes, I guess you do. come this way, perhaps that table over there in the far corner." I was dressed pretty, in pressed slacks and shirt. Far prettier than most of the people in the room, who tended towards shorts and t-shirts, but I don't tend towards 25-30 years old. But thankfully, that's about where the reality of my imaginings ended. A full menu of Thai dishes was presented, along with a cocktail list (moderately creative without being stupid about it), and a wine list. While I was perusing, a plate of puffed rice crackers and a decent sweet and sour dipping sauce was placed on the table. I relaxed. Excellent chicken satay, with the chicken beautifully grilled and still juicy, accompanied by a very mild peanut satay sauce, but an accompanying chili sauce that actually packed a wallop. Nice presentation, and a generous quantity for 380 pesos (just over $6). And likewise, both presentation and quantity of the prawn kung pad met mamuang, a mild stir fry of prawns, cashews, and vegetables, that was big enough that I only made it through about half, and then asked for the rest to go (680 pesos, or just over $11). Certainly tops the list of the dedicated Thai spots in town, and comes in a not too distant second to Cantina Sunae which covers a wider swath of the region. I will definitely be back.
