Tonight, my wife and I had a bit of a religious experience with food. We had found Cantina Simonetti on Yelp and saw some good reviews. It happened to be within a reasonable walk from our hotel so we tried it out.
It was a busy night. There was absolutely no parking available so a walk was really the only choice. We got there and the place was jumping. This is a hot place for a Saturday night. Even though the area was busy, we were seated right away. Now, the reason I didn't give it 5 stars. The service.
We were basically ignored for approximately 30 minutes after being given our menus. The staff were incredibly busy, but we saw several tables who were seated after us, get their order in and received their first course before anyone spoke to us. No wine, no water and no appetizer. We thought we had made a mistake.
Now the redemption: the food. The noodles were among the best I've ever had. The cheese sauce with black pepper was amazing! The chicken with rosemary was tender, juicy and full of flavor.
While we were eating, my wife told me we should go back tomorrow night.
We will see. read more
