I enjoyed speaking with the young man who provided the estimate for a large project of mine that included clearing the mistletoe and dead branches from eight oak trees. When I wanted to make a few changes in the order, he came back out and provided a new estimate without a roll of the eye. Today a crew of four arrived promptly, and they were all just nice, courteous, alert young men who agreed with my requests to trim without harm to the trees. I called him and he tried to justify that I needed his service because I have 2 dead trees in my back yard. I I would give a negative rating if I could but the one star is because it's the lowest on yelp. I am updating this review after just using Beaver Tree Service. When we called canopy to come and remove a couple of branches in our tree and thin it out they were eager gave us a bid that was extremely high we didn't realize it because we didn't call around and when they came in here to do the work we wanted they still did not remove the branch that was our main concern of going over our house so we just called Beaver Tree Service to remove our tree as We were noticing cracked branches and branches dropping out of the tree extremely large ones we want to remove it before it did some extreme damage to house & property, or injured somebody. I've used them twice now for trees on my 2 properties, once to deal with a tree embedded in some powerlines and just recently, organized them to trim 8 trees on my other property while remote in Southern California. Met them, they arrived on time, worked with me and consulted on each tree to make sure they addressed all my needs and concerns. Hired Canopy Tree Service for trimming and removal of trees in October. The crew arrived on time. They were professional, friendly, knowledgeable and ready to work. My trees looked great and the clean up was spotless. I found them comparable in cost to other services in the Valley and highly recommend them. John set an appointment, arrived on time, and gave me his undivided attention for the entire time he was here. He was candid about what he saw though he never brushed up against "over-selling", and I found that refreshing! He agreed to stop by in my absence to review and estimate the minimal work he thought we needed so that I could authorize the work when the season/timing is right. We have about 25 assorted trees that I treasure with different needs that I don't have time to deal with. John seemed willing to take the worry off my plate. WOOHOO! Follow up: John did not follow through with what he said he would do. I did not get an estimate or a timeline to care for my trees over the year. I never heard from him again. Someone once said, "The best you ever get from someone is the interview." It sure turned out to be true with this company. If you just want to chat about your tree problems, he's your guy. We went with Canopy because we got 3 estimates and their estimate was the lowest, and a friend recommended them. They trimmed dead growth off several oaks, pruned back a couple of oaks that were blocking our view, thinned a big ponderosa pine and removed a dying oak and removed it all form our property. My wife and I are starting a large landscaping project for our home in Ashland. We needed to remove many large trees from our back yard (to be replaced by others, of course...). Our landscape architect recommended Canopy. Canopy's arborist evaluated the health of the trees and made recommendations. They subsequently bid the project to remove the relevant trees with a price that matched another bidder. We went with Canopy because of their solid track record and their great communication. In this Covid era communication is more important than ever before, and we discussed the project largely by phone, text, and video chat. Canopy coordinated the event with our neighbors to ensure everyone was aware of the planned shut-down of the nearby power lines. They executed the job on the scheduled date in less time than anticipated (to get the power back online for our neighbors). And they shot a video for my wife and I to see what they accomplished. I hired Canopy for tree trimming. The quality of their work was fine, if the price was high. We later discovered that in taking off an oak tree limb over our front steps they had caused the limb to fall onto our newly refinished redwood handrail, making a large gauge in one area and several other smaller ones. The owner came by to see the damage and agreed to get in touch with the painter who had done the work in order to arrange repairs. After not hearing back from Canopy for over a month I inquired as to when the work would be scheduled. I finally received an email from the owner attempting to deny any responsibility for the damage - even though he had agreed during the visit that it was obviously from their worker cutting down the limb. He said no one on his staff was willing to own up to causing the damage. I replied with a clear review of our meeting and his agreement, but received no reply. *I would not do business with this outfit again, and will certainly caution anyone else to avoid them and choose one of the several other ethical and responsible services in the area. read more
