You'll shoot your eye out, kid." (A Christmas Story)…read more When Ralphi mentioned "plunging into the cornucopia, quivering with desire...", surely he was thinking of this massive store's selection of equipment for outdoor sportsmen, notably including an official Red Ryder, carbine action, two-hundred shot range model air rifle! If that isn't enough to tear Ralphi's dad away from the leg lamp for a trip to Cabela's, the chance to get a free 4" x 6" pic with Santa on the second floor should do the trick. Better yet, this Santa won't roughly push the kiddos down a slide after telling them they'll shoot their eyes out! With so many departments like fishing, camping, and toys, along with a huge aquarium in a cave and a gigantic replica of a mountain, you won't get bored shopping here. Minnesnowtans should check out the ActionHeat section, because we don't actually enjoy becoming human popsicles in winter! If you're offended by taxidermy, oh fuuudge...avoid all the North American and African mounts, including a huge elephant and rhino. While I dislike the aspect of the trophy hunting and mounts, kids are mesmerized comparing their tiny size to the large scale of these beautiful beasts and seeing them in their replicated habitats. This store has a little something for everyone, whether you're a Scut Farcus, a Ralphi, or a Mrs. Parker. If driving through Owatonna, make sure to stop at Cabela's--I triple dog dare you! Also, be sure to drink your Ovaltine.

Owatanna's location is one of the more grander Cabela's that I've been to in the Midwest. It was a pretty decent sized building with a decent amount of item variety and a huge taxidermy display right in the middle of it all. I really enjoyed the taxidermy and mount displays at this location. There was a huge diversity of animals from around the world and the quality of the displays was on the same level of a natural history museum. Just walking around and looking at everything was a fun time. There is even a walkthrough aquarium that shows off local sports dish species. Staff were friendly and helpful and prices for most items were very reasonable, especially sale items. The only thing missing was one of those penny arcade gun ranges where you shoot things and they move, oh well!

We found it in a non-descriptive shopping mall in Rochester and it is a Large store with many departments. I was just looking at the men's clothing we did walk by the fishing section which was pretty big. They had two sections of men "men's clothing, one in the outdoor department and then another in basic menswear department. The brands were pretty typical. In fact they had Milwaukee shirts for women, but I didn't see any for men that was kind of the brand that was hoping they have for men. I was actually hoping for more regional clothing, but that was a wish that did not appear. The store smells like offgassing imported items and I'll tell you what Canadian tire a big chain in Canada smelled the same way. The checker was helpful. He allowed me to get into the discount club which gave me discount on the two shirts. I purchased. I enjoyed the ice fishing sheds in the front of the store.

Also bought a gift card and gummy worms. The store is flipped around compared to Lakeville store. Literally 1 cashier, so I did self checkout. Was useless as helper needed to add my dob for sparklers and enter amount for gift card. Parking was very close as they weren't busy around 12.

I was looking online to see if they carry converse, as I was looking for a pair of regular black chucks. When I entered the store there were tons of staff all over which is nice to see these days. I browsed the men's section first since the shoes are pretty much the same, I couldn't find them at first so I went across the store over to the women's and couldn't find converse in women's either. I did notice the women's shoes wasn't as busy as the men's. I browsed around a bit (no one greeted me or anything in men's or women's). I did finally find them under a table display and they only had platforms for women's so I went back over to men's to take another look. I did find them and waited for a salesman to assist me. A man walked up (after me) and the shoe he wanted was next to stock room so he was helped right away. I waited and asked for help.. I was told by a rep that he had to go check on some other customers, I kept waiting and being ignored to the point I witnessed reps asking people still looking around if they needed help and finally someone came up to help me, I asked for a 7 (as I'm a 8 1/2, 9 in women's), he came back and told me the smallest size they have is an 8 which is too big. He asked who I was shopping for, I said myself and he asked me what size I wear and I said about a 9 in women's and he said "well this is men's" as if I was blind. Just didn't like the vibes all around.
