I've been here so many times and I was shocked that I've never reviewed it! This place has the best cannolis; they are piped fresh, and there are loads of flavours to choose from. They make a great gift, or for a fancy little snack for yourself! They are also located in the same place as Moreso Me Food to Go, which has excellent takeaway pastas. Cannoli Crunch is the perfect place for gifting - they have a beautiful set box with assorted cannoli that are crafted by hand and made fresh on the spot. All of the other cannoli I've seen (from other places) are bigger, but the ones here are mini cannoli and much prettier - like works of art. The place is very small and cozy with 2 small tables. The staff are super friendly, helpful, and welcoming from the moment I walked in. They explained the different types of cannoli they have, the special ones for the month, and showed me the variety they have on the tablet. It took about 15-20 minutes to prepare the large box of 12 assorted cannoli. I watched them make each one by hand. The cannoli are then arranged beautifully in the box. They explained that because cannoli contains ricotta cheese, it needs to be stored in the fridge. In addition to cannoli, they also serve sandwiches, pastas, and salads. There are vegetarian and keto-friendly options as well, and a variety of beverages such as coffee and tea. When I was there, some people ordered coffee and cannoli to go, while some ordered meals for dine-in. There are only a few tables and seating spaces inside and outside, so it could get a little crowded. I couldn't emphasize enough how lovely the staff are. Every step of my experience there (the walking in, being welcomed, explanation of their offerings, making of the cannoli, putting little touches and care in the packaging, etc.) made me want to go back again. The owner even came out and explained that all their food items and ingredients (including the bread, pasta, and salads) are homemade, and made fresh each day. The cannoli flavours / varieties change every month, so that's even more reason to go back! Once in a while, they have savoury flavours, but not at the time when I went in. They have traditional flavours that are always available, and some new ones that they introduce monthly. Cannoli Crunch is a relatively new takeout bakery, newly opened 2021-07-16, focusing on high-end cannoli. The logo is "cannoli CRUNCH"; yes, the use of lower and upper case in the name was purposely chosen. The slogan is "Born in tradition... inspired by Art!". Read the rest of my review to see if the slogan is met. Cannoli originated in Sicily. Maria is the owner and chief cannoli artist, born in Canada but her parents are Silician. She owns both Cannoli Crunch and Morso Me (which serves savoury Italian food); both are at the same address. Orange, pistachio, chocolate and cherry are traditional cannoli flavours and they will be offered every month ($3.50 each). Then there will be unique exotic flavours each month. The flavours change every month so check the Instagram account or the website. They sell sweet flavours ($4.00-$5.00) but they invented the jelly filled cannoli (inspired by the jelly donut) and the savoury cannoli (good for lunch/brunch or as appetizers); both creations are patent pending. I must go back to try the Sushi Roll Cannoli ($7.00) and Mama Italia (meatball) Cannoli ($6.50). The Oct 2021 setbox of 6 costs $30 (setbox of 6 jelly cannoli is $24) and the Oct setbox of 12 costs $52. I got a box of 6 flavours: - Gatto Nero ($5.00) - celebrating Halloween with licorice - Ficurinia ($4.50) - prickly pear emulsion - Traditional Pistachio ($3.50) - Guava Jelly ($4.00) - Golden Nugget ($4.50) - hazelnut with dark and white chocolate (think Ferrero Rocher) - Pumpkin Spice ($4.50) - pumpkin, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg with marzipan pumpkins at both ends (hand crafted and painted! Obviously I had to bring it home for my wife! The cannoli shell is definitely crunchy. And I love all the different flavours and the attention to detail making the cannoli a piece of art. Even the boxes for the (6 or 12) cannoli are beautifully designed. They are mostly black with a silk-like texture and a black ribbon. The boxes are classy enough to be given as presents or presented at a fancy dinner. There are smaller takeout containers for 2 cannoli. There is a Trinacria logo on each box. It is on the Sicilian flag. The 3 legs represent the original 3 valli of the island; the 3 wheat wars represent fertility, and the Medusa represents protection. The store has nothing on display. Each cannoli is made to order, taking about 10 mins for a box of 6. The ricota cheese will make the inside of the shell soggy if inside for too long. The cannoli should be refrigerated so that they can last 3-4 hours. You can't freeze them either because during the thawing process, the cannoli shell will pick up moisture from the air and become soggy. It is best to pre-order via the website or call in your order. You can also walk-in but may have to wait if they are making many other orders. The staff are very nice and helpful. Maria is always there since she is the one making the cannoli. After speaking with her, I could tell she has a passion for her craft. You can also get delivery. They don't use the usual food delivery apps (which charge a commission up to 30%!); they use independent drivers. The entire delivery cost goes to the drivers. During pandemic times, staff wear masks and there is plexiglass as the counter. There is no free WiFi. The restaurant is not wheelchair accessible because of stairs at the entrance. There are no customer washrooms.  There is free 1-hour parking in the neighbourhood. Late 2018, Maria wanted to have a food business that is something Italian but unique. She decided on sweet (hence cannoli) rather than savoury. Her husband and she previously ran a sit-down restaurant. The she came up with the name Cannoli Crunch. She was running another Italian takeout at the time (Morso Me) so she delayed implementation until beginning of 2020 but because of the pandemic, could not get things started including the high end boxes (only got boxes end of 2020). Been here twice now and I've got to say, the quality of their cannolis at Cannoli Crunch are consistently crispy-yet-chewy good. They have monthly flavours so we got the standard box of 6 to try a bunch of them. They were nice enough to sub out the savoury cannoli (dill pickle for November) and give us an additional sweet one to satisfy my sweet tooth. November box of 6 included grand marnier (premium cannoli; on its own it costs $7 I think), pear, lychee, jellybean, wafer, and violeta (this is what qe subbed in). Surprisingly, I didn't take to the grand marnier one (wanted it a bit more boozy) and gravitated to the pear one (you bit into it and it was a burst of summer). Also, easily the most fun one was jellybean - tasted like a kid's cannoli. Overall, really pricey but I guess that's the cost of quality? Owner is friendly and helpful. Cannoli Crunch has a small but cute location on King Street West, West of Bathurst but a little before Liberty Village. They're still relatively new as they only opened Summer 2021. The owners are great as they take the time and care to explain the ingredients/components of any/all of their Cannoli's in the case you have allergies, or just want to know! You can mix and match which flavors you want. I had the opportunity to try a mix, my favorites include the Ferraro Roche (called the Golden Nugget) and the Green Tea Matcha. After recently checking their website, I see the Green Tea Matcha is currently unavailable. They have a short list of 6 Cannoli's that are available year-round, and as of August 2022 they are: 1. Pistachio 2. Chocolate 3. Original 4. Orange 5. Cherry 6. The Everything If you check their Instagram or website, you can see their Monthly Cannoli's and/or Jelly Cannoli's which are frequently updated. If you love cannolis as much as I do, you must try Chef Maria's elevated take on the delicious cannoli. Seems strange that no one is doing this in Toronto. On this visit, we tried the Chef's choice of 6 handcrafted, delicious, crispy, crunchy cannoli. The SetBox of 6 includes Mr. BAILEY, Sushi Roll, Pumpkin Spice, Golden Nugget (Ferraro Rocher flavour), Signature Guava Jelly & Matcha Tea Cannoli. With the gorgeous packaging, it also makes for a great gift. They're not your Mom's cannolis, but I highly recommend stopping by and trying them. You won't be disappointed! There's also a restaurant on the premises serving Sicilian inspired Italian dishes. Each one of them were crafted by hand very beautifully! The chef and the Cannoli Crunch team are very creative and talented. They offer new flavours each month so you can explore new flavours every month. The trick to enjoy the cannoli is to eat it fresh!!! I mean if you can eat them right away after purchasing, you will enjoy the most crunchy and delicious Cannoli you haven't tried. They are still good in a few hours too! However, if you leave them for an overnight in the fridge, everything will be soggy. The tastes will stay the same but the shell won't be crunchy anymore. They explained each and every unique flavours and genuinely took pride in their products! I was offered 6 different flavours, both sweet and savoury. I shared them with my brother and we enjoyed every flavour, even the bold smoked salmon one. The fact the almost all components of cannoli were homemade made them taste even better. I heard a lot of good reviews about this place so I had to check it out myself. It's a small shop located in Toronto that sells authentic cannoli. I decided to preorder my cannolis. When I entered, the owner was super welcoming and didn't want to pre-make my order because she wanted to maximize the freshness and crispiness of the cannoli shells. I could really see the passion from the owner as she was explaining her own Sicilian heritage! The cannoli itself were all delicious. Crispy shells, creamy filling! What more can I say?
