    Slow-roasted Prime Rib
    Alaleh P.

We made a reservation at the restaurant for our anniversary after a relaxing spa day, and it was just what we needed. The serene atmosphere perfectly complemented our day. We ordered the "Slow-roasted Prime Rib" and "BBQ Flat Iron", and both dishes were cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious. You can ask for sour cream, horseradish, green onions, and cheese on the side, which adds a nice touch. For dessert, we had the Brookie, and the staff surprised us by decorating it; a lovely gesture that made our evening even more special.

This weekend we decided to visit the beautiful quaint town of NIAGARA ON THE LAKE (NoTL). We stayed at the gorgeous hotel, Queen's Landing, which is one of several sister hotels in this town. The Cannery is a beautiful restaurant at the Pillar and Post hotel. The ambiance is of a chic barnyard and they boast fine country dining. The restaurant is actually quite huge, and we didn't have trouble getting a table! We started with appetizers - I had my eye on the crab cakes and the bruschetta having perused the menu several times prior to coming there. I was not disappointed! The crab cakes were delicious. I enjoyed the bruschetta but fair warning - it's much sweeter than anticipated and could even pass for a delicious dessert! I am more of a savory person, but the combination of fruits and honey glaze was a little too sweet for me. Nonetheless the flavors were lovely Choosing our drinks was another matter - the cocktail and wine menu is extensive! I love spicy everything so of course I chose a Bloody Mary type drink they called THE Caesar. I was not disappointed! It was like a appetizer on its own The old fashioned was good too, although no the best we've had. I think it could have been stirred a little bit more to get the sweet syrup at the bottom more evenly mixed. Later on we got a glass of wine to go with our meat heavy entree and that was quite delicious and paired well! Their menu also makes suggestions for wine pairing for every dish, which is quite helpful The slow roasted prime rib was better than I imagined. I am usually disappointed by prime ribs at other restaurants because it is often too chewy and poorly seasoned. This was the exact opposite! I got mine medium rare. I don't know how they get this thing so juicy and evenly salted because it just melts in your mouth!! And unlike my previous experiences, I did not have to break the knife when I cut the meat. It also came with a side of baked potatoes with all the fixings you could want, as well as this Yorkshire pudding which is in fact not a pudding but more like a soft crunchy bread!!! I had no idea. Overall a MASSIVE hit for me! Meanwhile my boyfriend also hit the jackpot with the short rib, which fell right off the bone and straight into our belly's!!! Good lord this was also perfectly seasoned and just so flavorful. I am still dreaming about both these dishes. Miraculously we finished every bite of our appetizers and entrees and somehow still had room to share a brookie aka brownie and cookie. Very moist with some brownie crisps on top - perfect ending to a wondering dinner I highly recommend the Cannery and its amazing array of cuisine. While the menu is meat heavy there's plenty of options including vegetarian options, seafood, and chicken entrees

Food and service is top notch as usual. Went for early dinner before show at Shawfest. Steak was cooked perfectly and service was excellent. Place was fairly busy but not loud or noisy.

While staying at the pillar and Post I dinned twice here.I had the most amazing salmon dinner, hot and delicious. For breakfast the next day it was buffet style with an amazing Waffle and Omlette stations, both were delicious.Fast and friendly service I highly recommend having dinner or breakfast here.

While staying at the Pillar and Post I dinner on the premises and the Cannery did not disappoint.Wi5h speedy service and a smile I enjoyed a hot and tasty salmon dinner. The next day for a breakfast buffet they had Omlette and Waffle stations set up .Both were incredible. Also fruit and Pasteries. A wonderful experience not to be missed.

We came to dine at the Cannery from our 'Fire & Ice' package with the associating Pillar & Post Inn. We had a 3-course meal with set options. The salad appetizer was fresh & decent. As for the mains, I highly suggest going for the beef short rib, it was very flavourful & saucy. I initially ordered the Salmon main dish, but it came out in a bed of soupy (not fluffy) quinoa and the salmon skin was on and it was so limp, fishy, and slimy. I would've expected a finer dining spot like this to cook the salmon well and crisp up the skin! The waiter was very understanding though and very kindly swapped out my main dish. Dessert was a nice tart. Overall, the vibe is super cool with the smokey faux fire AND multiple fireplaces where you can get front row dining seats with!

Seafood & steaks with an emphasis on local ingredients are served in a refined, exposed-brick space. Located inside the Pillar & Post Resort Spa, this quaint restaurant is actually a massive space. When we went inside to dine, there were two weddings hidden at the back of the restaurant. Ambiance: The atmosphere is very rustic with the exposed-brick layout, lighting is dim and the ambiance is classy yet fun. The restaurant is kid friendly located inside the hotel. Service: Exceptional, our server was very attentive, got us water/drinks and went through the menu with us with any questions we had. Thanks Sue :) The restaurant hosted us for our 1st wedding anniversary and they were very pleasant. Only Thing was there was no special message on our dessert, not expected but surprised it wasn't there. Maybe because of the weddings. Food: We ordered two drinks to start, the dark and stormy and a peach smash. Dark & Stormy Dark Rum Fresh Lime Juice Ginger Beer Delicious, nice pairing and contrast with the lime juice and dark rum. Not for everyone but for me it was good. () Pillar Signature Whisky Peach Smash Knob Creek Bourbon Peach Schnapps Peach Slices Fresh Lemon Mint This drink was nice and refreshing and not too sweet (we asked for it that way) Both drinks come in 2oz! Great value for these two items. Food: Baked Brie - Niagara peach & jalapeño chutney, puff pastry, pink peppercorn infused honey, ciabatta crisps Good balance of flavors with the richness of the brie, the spice of the jalapeno (not that spicy), the sweetness of the honey and the Niagara peach. () Crab CakesA Cannery Signature Dish () Blue crab, creole aioli, fennel slaw The crab cakes were very flavorful, however a little salty to our taste. The crab inside was very flaky and it was a good amuse bouche.

This was an incredible way to spend a Covid safe Birthday. We enjoyed the pre fixe menu included with our accommodations. Service was incredible!! Each of us had different meals, Prime rib, steak, beef short ribs, crab cakes, romaine salad -- all delicious!! And dessert was amazing! Coconut banana pudding pictured here and a pumpkin spice cheesecake. Safety measures were in place, great spacing between tables, wait staff in masks, gloves -- restaurant was clean (along with rest of hotel). Would recommend and return!

    Grilled Swordfish

Cannery was amazing!! One of the best meals we have had in a while. Lisa, our server, was fantastic and so friendly! We got the crab cake appetizer, the lamb shoulder gnocchi, and the swordfish. Everything was cooked perfectly and we couldn't have asked for a better meal! We would absolutely recommend this to anyone!

Great food, good service, we loved the salads and the prime rib. Will return next time we are Niagara on the lake.

Nice layout. Our server was great. Lots of fun. He didn't write anything down and got it all right. I asked him for a recommendation on an app cuz I wasn't that hungry. He said the feta burchetta. It comes in 4 huge pieces. More than enough to share. Piled high with tomatoes, cheese, onions, and you add your own olive oil and balsamic. It was very good. I ate 2. With a fork cuz it's big and awkward. Everyone else got different things 2 cheese burgers. Both said they were good and a nice chargrilled taste. Mussels and that was a good plateful. And the gyro sandwich. And that had 2 thumbs up. Oh and the French fries are really good. I stole a few. Crispy and soft in the middle. We weren't rushed we sat and talked and had a nice time. Prices were fairly reasonable. Our bill with tip and drinks was around $77 Canadian. So I but that really in the $60 range. I thought the apps were a bit expensive but as mentioned the portion was huge. So you gotta weight that. I'd definitely recommend.

The sauce was sweet: would have benefitted with more acidity and salt. Use salt. 3/5 Pork belly - Tough and overcooked by about a long weekend. Flavour ok. 2/5 Beet Salad - Best appetizer, but it's just beet salad. 4/5 Ribeye - over cooked. Does not taste dry-aged or like "prime" grade beef. I would consider this close to SCAM territory. 1/5 Lobster Tail - Rubbery, but well seasoned. Edible. 2.5/5 Scallops - 3 x Tiny abductor muscles that did not warrant the $22 price tag. Rubber. Not edible. The waiter would not admit it was cooked from frozen 0/5 Mashed Potato - great. 4/5 The service was attentive and friendly. 4/5 Restaurant looks simple, but has a great view. The best thing we ate that night was the complimentary bread - very similar to Yorkshire pudding. The wagyu fried rice was flavourful. The appetizers were mid and the Chef's Tasting steaks were ok albeit served lukewarm. The 30 days aged 32 oz bone in ribeye was extremely disappointing. It was very chewy and difficult to eat. Lots of fat and tough veins in the steak - it was not quality and definitely not worth $302. We didn't even eat half of it.
