Save your money and go to the Keg. Twice as good and half the price. Ordered the petit fillet with blackened scallops. There was no seasoning on anything. The scallops were pan seared like any other scallops. They bring the food out on a sizzling plate of butter. It splatters all over the table, your clothes, my face. I think there might have been too much butter on mine, you think they'd know better? All the food was bland as there was no seasoning on it. Fresh ground pepper was offered at the table but no finishing or sea salt to been found. Old timey salt and pepper shaker on the table had to do. Not what I'd expect from a 'high end' steak house. We ordered a few Ruth's classics combo with appetizer, main and chocolate cheesecake. The stars were the arugula salad and the steak among all dishes. - Appetizers: Both the Caesar salad and the arugula salad were perfectly flavoured. The coutons were stale though. The lobster bisque was not yummy. Quite watery taste. I would not recommend this dish. - Mains: All the mains were good but sides were mediocre. We tried the salmon, the shrimp orleans, and the filet mignon. All of them were decent. Fish was cooked perfectly and shrimps were fresh too. However, some corns were bitter and creamy spinach was not very tasty. I ordered medium for my steak and it was perfectly cooked and evenly seasoned. The salt and butter really brought out the scent of the steak and it was melting in my mouth! - Dessert: We ordered three combos so it came with three chocolate cheesecakes. The server was really nice to provide us extra cheesecake and icecream for free. The cake was too sweet to my tasting, but I really liked the vanilla icecream. Came here on a Thursday with my family and cousins family on a Thursday and it was quite busy. Ordered the crab cakes, caesar salad, the porter house, ribeye, one kids meal and lots of sides for the toddlers (Mac and cheese, mashed potatoes and French fries). We also got their house wine that they recommended. Didn't take long for our server to come and introduce himself and then bring us some freshly warm bread with whipped butter, which was so good that both the toddlers enjoyed it more than I did. Not too long after our appetizers came out, and the Caesar salad was standard, but the crab cakes were full of meaty delicious crab, and not a lot of filler which is nice. Our server then came back moments later to let us know our hot plates were ready and to be cautious, since the plates are super hot and they were for our steaks; ready to come out. First time having a hot plate where you can actually have your steak cooked a bit more and kept warm while eating it. I liked the concept as steak tends to come out warm and by the time your halfway it's pretty much cold. Steaks were delicious and tender, we ordered our steaks medium rare, and they were thick cuts of steaks that easily fed 4 adults, along with the delicious sides to go with our steaks, we were pretty full by the end of our meal. We had my GF's birthday dinner here in their private dining room. The room was nicely set up, you can play your own music in the room which was awesome! Service was efficient. Sarah was the GM and was so gracious. She made sure we were having a great time all night. You need a minimum spend to use the private dining room. My favourite was the crab cakes! Everyone had a different steak. Mixed reviews on steak. Lobster was delicious! Shoe string fries were not crispy so they did replace with regular ones but still not crispy so it was not a crowd favourite. Calamari was ok but it had sweet chili seasoning. We came here as a party of 5 yesterday to celebrate a birthday. When we arrived, there was a couple ahead of us & while they were seated, we stood there for a bit without being acknowledged which I find is a bit unusual for a high end establishment. It was really nice being sat at a round table. Non-Asian restaurants don't use these enough but I love these as you can interact with everyone. I ordered the Ruth's Classic with a 6 ounce filet & 3 large shrimps. This is a prix fix menu and also comes with an appetizer (choice of salad or lobster bisque), a choice of one side (creamed spinach or garlic mashed potatoes) and cheesecake for dessert. I opted for the bisque & garlic mashed (my cousin got the creamed spinach so we shared). The bisque was not the best I've had & my sister in law did not enjoy it. Best part of my meal was the steak cooked to perfection at a true medium rare. My steak stayed hot/warm up until my last few bites since they serve it on a hot plate which I love. We also got their crab cakes to share. This appetizer is quite expensive yet it is full of crab & the crust is fried nicely, seasoned well and has a wonderful texture. A couple of things to note is that normally once the order is taken, the wine glasses from those who aren't having any are taken away however our server took it away when the one glass of wine was brought out & we weren't offered coffee or tea with our dessert until we were almost finished. I came here for Winterlicous 2023 with a party of 2 and had a wonderful time. The ambiance and service were excellent, and our server Paul H. was very kind. We had the caesar salad, 6oz filets, mashed potatoes and mushrooms for our meal. For dessert, we had the bread pudding and the chocolate sin cake. Everything was cooked to perfection, including the starter of warm bread and butter. Ruth Chris' steakhouse is a very well known chain famous for its steaks, and today's visit did not disappoint. We came on a Saturday evening at 5 pm and the restaurant was not busy at all. We had a party of 4 adults and a 4-year-old. Their Ruth's Classics prix fixe menu is good value. It comes with a salad or lobster bisque, a main, a side, and a chocolate cheesecake for dessert. We ordered 3 of those plus an additional entree. For the starters we ended up with one of each option - an arugula salad, a Caesar salad, and the bisque. Both salads were excellent - dressing was full of flavour and there was a good balance of crunchy to soft ingredients to give them a range of texture. The lobster bisque however was a disappointment. It was slightly bitter and lacking in body. For the main event, while the default steak in the prix fixe menu is a 6-oz filet, I upgraded to an 11-oz for an extra $23. That was certainly the right decision! The medallion was cooked perfectly medium rare and served on a hot ceramic plate. The steak was melt -in-your-mouth tender and the outer crust added an extra layer of texture to the dish. We tried both the mashed potatoes and creamed spinach for the sides. Both were flavorless fillers that are not memorable. The chocolate cheesecake was good. It's a round piece garnished with various berries (straw, blue and rasp). It's a satisfactory closing to the meal. On to the service. On the one hand, I'll give them credit for trying. On the other - trying doesn't always mean results. The restaurant was not busy at all when we were there, and there seems to be a lot of wait staff - but somehow whenever we needed something it always seemed like there was no one around. This is in stark contrast to other restaurants in the same price range. But they do try. We ordered 3 of the Ruth classics - so 3 cheesecakes. Our waiter comped us an extra cheesecake and an extra ice cream for the little one. It's a wonderful gesture to be sure, and we appreciate it. But THEN, after we were done with dessert, since we were there to celebrate my birthday, they brought out ANOTHER piece of free cheesecake with a candle on it! The same cheesecake that we just ate 4 of! It's too much cheesecake! Communication is important! Anyway - for good steak, come eat here! It's not fine dining - it's a steakhouse. I have only been to Ruth's Chris Steak House a handful of times over the years. This was my very fist visit to the Markham location. We went as a family to celebrate a birthday, so it def was a special occasion. Upon entering, we were greeted very warmly by the host at the front of the house. We were taken to our table which was a half booth. Not my fav seating, but other tables were reserved. My hubby assumed when he reserved a booth, that we would be getting a booth. I have to say it was not the most comfortable seating at all and the lighting was really bad. Only 1 light over the left side of the table near the wall of the booth. That was awkward to say the least. Which you will notice with my pics that have no filters used and the lighting is terrible. I have to say, the service was above and beyond what I expected - exceptional actually. What fell short for me here was the meal itself. We have been to several of the high end steak houses downtown (Hy's, Barberian's, Harbour 60 etc.). I was expecting a little more of that with this dining experience. This is what we ordered: Starter: Calamari - loved the freshness of the calamari and how light the batter was. I was not expecting so much of the sweet spicy chilli sauce to be on it. I probably should have asked and assumed as with most restaurants that any sauce would,be on the side. Main: Hubby and I both ordered Rib Eye Steaks. The steaks were seasoned really good, grilled very well, but I didn't really care so much for the pool of butter my steak was in. A little less would have allowed me to really taste the $80 cut I purchased. Our cuts were drowning in butter, not at all what I recall from previous visits at other Ruth's Chris'. I was tempted to send it back, but it was getting late and a school night for my kids. I also didn't want to hold up everyone else's meal. Sides: $15 - Fries - easy item to order right? Can't go wrong? They were a bit over done and honestly for an $80 cut of steak I was hoping to be wowed by some better quality fries - maybe handcut truffle fries. $42 - Lobster Mac & Cheese - I was mostly disappointed with this dish. I have heard so many people rave about this dish. First of all, it was so dark that if I had not tasted some lobster in a few bites of the dish, I wouldn't have noticed. Very little lobster and the portion itself for $42 was a bit insulting with only 1 small clump of shredded lobster. Not much cheese flavour came through from the "3 cheese blend". It was "ok" but I was not wowed by it. $18.95 - Kids menu: My kids loved their steaks. Tender 4oz cuts that were seasoned and grilled to exact temperature requested. Served with a side of fries. Their meals also came with drinks and a choice of vanilla or chocolate ice cream for dessert. I probably will, at some point go back to give them another chance. Overall 3.5 Service 4 Food 3 Ambiance 3.5 Ruth Chris is a high end steakhouse that serves quality meat on a hot plate. The quality is good, but I wouldn't particularly say it's the best or very exquisite quality I anticipate. For the most part, my steaks were cooked to medium rare, but due to the hot plate, I do find that every experience my steak gets over as I continue to eat it. That being said, the meat is usually quite juicy and tender. Seasoning can be inconsistent as I did have one steak to be well seasoned and the other quite salty. The lobster bisque was bitter which made it unpleasant. The undertone I believe came from the lobster offals which I do like, but it overpowered the soup and made it unpleasant. While I didn't enjoy, my dad did lol so personal preference. Bread was average. Dessert which I got was chocolate cake which was quite rich but delicate and creamy. Pretty good here. Overall for the price I am unsure if I will really go vack given I feel I prefer a lower fee for a decent steak in this case. read more

Our server, Bill was super friendly, considerate and accommodating. He truly made the entire experience so amazing. He was very attentive and always made sure our water was filled even though we drink a lot of water and fast. He also made fantastic recommendations and always helped us with a smile. The food was just alright. The lobster bisque was overly salty and we didn't really enjoy it. The Caesar salad was better but still nothing outstanding. Their steak was absolutely delicious. It was perfectly seasoned and came out on a plate that Bill said to be careful with because it was still hundreds of degrees in temperature. I got the chocolate sin cake and it was really, really dense. I personally love chocolate but this was still too chocolate-y for me. It was kind of like a giant block of soft chocolate. Now this is total speculation but when I went to the washroom, I noticed (and so did my friends) that the minority races were seated on the side of the restaurant closest to the door while the non-minority race was seated all the way at the back (the restaurant goes very far in). I do want to note that this had nothing to do with Bill's service as he was nothing but nice to us and also not the one who seated us. But the whole thing was kind of spicy... Parking is a breeze as there is a large parking lot nearby that's a very short walk away. Transit may be more annoying but I did notice a TTC bus that passed by as well as YRT. read more

We decided to check out the new Ruth's Cris in Unionville. What a great location with lots of parking nearby. We had reservations for 2 and had mentioned that it was a special occasion. We were greeted immediately and shown to our table. There was some sparkly stuff on the table which was appreciated. The drinks were good but the mule option is with Vodka as Bourbon is not available. Ginger not ginger beer. Good but don't order if you are expecting the traditional version. I ordered the medium rare Filet and my friend ordered the medium. The steaks were done to perfection and perfectly seasoned. Bread and sides were above average and dessert (cheesecake) was delicious. We recently visited for a special night out with a group of friends and had a wonderful experience. We all chose the three-course seasonal special, and every dish impressed us. The cranberry salad was bright and refreshing with a deliciously balanced dressing. The steak and shrimp combo was cooked exactly to our liking--tender, flavorful, and just the right portion size. It started with having an issue trying to figure out where to park so we called the restaurant and all we got were voicemails...at 7:00 at night....Our waiter was super nice but we only saw him in 15-20 minute intervals. Based on the food and ambiance, it was definitely 4 stars but had to dock off a star due to some mishaps. It started with them forgetting to pour water for my husband and it was just the 3 of us. This was partly due to the one server taking our order while the other server was pouring the water. He likely couldn't reach over and probably meant to come back. Then my husband had to remind the waiter that he didn't get his beer as we were already eating our bread. Both my husband and I got the same entree, steak & shrimp but I had requested for my steak to be medium rare with less butter and half way through the meal, we realize that I got his steak that was buttery and medium. Luckily for me, I ended up enjoying his order. Unfortunately my husband was looking forward to that buttery steak. Overall, the place had a great vibe that was warm and welcoming. We really enjoyed our meal. We love that the menu included a 4 course meal with a starter, entree, personal side and dessert for about $60. To start, both the arugula salad and soup were delicious. The medium rare steaks were perfect, sizzling on the plate for quite awhile. Tender and delicious, could be a bit more seasoned though. The salad was a bit too greasy for my taste. I asked the Waiter to put the dressing on the side, but he said it's better for the chef to mix them. I think it could already be mixed. I should insisted on dressing on the side. The main dish, the steak (fillet) is served on the sizzling signature hot plate () and knowing it's on going to be on a hot plate, I ordered the steak to be medium rare so it's tad bit over medium when i start eating it so it's perfect for my liking. I recommend folks to do the same, order the steak abit rare for your normal liking and so it continue to cook on your plate when it's on your table ... the steak is good! As for the side dish, I didn't expect much as it's mash potatoes and creamy spinach. It's ok as a side dish, the steak still the best! Lol! As dessert, it's a mini cheese cake, nothing particularly stands out but still it's a good piece of soft / flavourful cheesecake. 240$ Meal felt like a 100$ sit down at the Keg/Canyon Creek. I'm a huge red meat fan, we ordered the most popular ($173)Tomahawk on our first visit to Ruth's. The Entree for 2 ($173) 40oz- Tomahawk, Was a show piece presented sizzling, the meat so juicey and the meat so perfectly rare it was almost jumping off the plate as soon as it arrives. The fat pieces were wonderful. HOWEVER, I would not reccomend so much meat for just 2 people, we quickly became bored of the meat which was seasoned was simply salt and pepper glazed with butter and parsley, it became less and less enjoyable as time went on. It slightly smelt funky it was so hard to ignore it like old ground beef. If I were to come back I would order 2 separate steaks with the timing that it came right after each other. The sides, The Mushrooms($15) were watery, the flavor was just very settle. The Broccoli Au Gratin($15) was just Cheese on top of broccoli. They weren't bad but It wasn't enjoyably good, it was something I felt like something anyone could make. The Salad, was by far the best of the evening Arugula spinach salad with Candied Pecans and pickled beats was just tart and sweet enough to get your appetite moving. The amount of effort put into just the plate was worth it. I would recommend ordering it. The service was great, I really have to praise our waiter being professional and open. He was a lot of fun to interact and experienced. The ladies at the front desk not so much, they scolded us because we didn't have reservations when we came in to eat before 6pm. OMG! Amazing food and service. Both our hostess (Sarah) and server (Jeffrey) went above and beyond at our most recent visit at Ruth's Chris! We went there to celebrate my dad's birthday and ordered: 1) Small seafood tower ($90): there was shrimp, crab legs, lobster, and blue crab included in this tower. It was presented in a huge platter and served on top of a 'tower'. It was definitely a light and delicious start to our meal. 2) Shoestring fries ($15): not as crispy as I would've liked but they were still perfectly salted and delicious nonetheless! 3) 40oz Tomahawk steak ($170): this was what we came for! We ordered our steak to be cooked medium and the different parts on this cut was SO DELICIOUS and melt in your mouth type of goodness. They presented us with the entire cut and divided it for us at the table side. A notable mention is also their chocolate cake - we didn't order this but because it was my dad's birthday, they gave it to us as a complementary dish. It was sooo fudgy and chocolately yet not overly sweet... even my parents who aren't usually a fan of cakes really enjoyed this! It was definitely a nice gesture. In terms of service, Jeffrey did an excellent job. Our glasses were never empty, requests were promptly met (e.g., taking our pictures, packing our food), and he was so polite and pleasant. With the rapid development and growth of Markham in recent years there are a number of fine dining choices emerging along Enterprise Boulevard. Ruth Chris Steakhouse is an American chain restaurant which has locations in Toronto and Niagara Falls as well as Western Canada. The Markham location is one of the newest. The entrance is at the carousel doors facing the Goodlife Gym across the street. We were immediately greeted by the manager and our server. The place was relatively quiet at 11:30am on a Friday and we were seated near a window. We were told the chef had previously worked out of the downtown location. Immediately we looked at the menu and decided on the lunch price fix. Appetizer was lobster bisque. Rich and flavourful.The main course was a 6 ounce fillet with three shrimp. The steak was cooking as it was brought to the table. Talk about melt in your mouth experience. No doubt one of the best steaks in the area. We finished with a couple of cappuccinos. The food was amazing. The problem was the manager. We had dinner with some left over which we wanted to take home. When we asked to have it packed, the person who cleaned up our table almost dropped the food and grabbed it with his bare hands. I understand the reaction to stop it from falling.... but when we brought this up with the manager. His resolution was "put it back in the boiler, all germs will be killed". Although true, this is a horrible solution... with this kind of logic, if food is dropped in the toilet bowl, then just cook it again and it's good to be served. Afterwards when we talked directly with the manager, he tried to push us to think the dinner was an excellent experience. He kept saying "well aside from that, everything was excellent right?" When you are spending about $500 for dinner, everything should be perfect. This isn't the first time we were there, it was the second. The first time the service was horrible too. We only went back cause the food was actually really good. Unfortunately I cannot justify to go the 3rd after this kind of experience, even if the food was good. From the moment we stepped into the restaurant, we were greeted by Christina, brought to our seats by Sara, and were taken care of for the rest of the night by Keith! The whole 2 hours we were there, EVERY SINGLE STAFF member was so professional and friendly. It definitely made my first visit a very good one. Make sure you ask for the server to give you a "tour" of the menu! Keith did such a great job. He pointed out the Ruth's Classics at the back of the menu and that was really great. I would not have looked there if he didn't give me the menu tour. From the Ruth's Classics menu, you get a starter, side, and a dessert FOR THE SAME PRICE AS JUST THE STEAK! We ordered the ribeye steak and it was cooked to perfection. EVERY SINGLE BITE of steak melted in my mouth. I've been to many fancy steak restaurants in the past, but none has ever melted in my mouth like this steak did. Everyone has told me Ruth's steaks were amazing and I honestly never believed it or thought it was worth the money. Now I believe why it has such a great reputation. Came here last week for a birthday and the experience wasn't enjoyable due to service. To be fair, the hostesses were very friendly but it was a short encounter. We had a big group and can understand if service is slow. That wasn't the main issue we had though. Our server was very grumpy. She did not look like she wanted to be there and Ruth's Chris should be properly training their servers to be welcoming and positive. Although not everyone has it in them. We waited a long time after ordering, some of us were irritated. The wait was longer than an hour. Would have been nice if it came sooner but it's understandable. I asked for horseradish and when my server brought it to me, she just left it on the table without saying anything. Felt odd. They didn't really know who ordered what either, shouting across a long table"who ordered this one?" They didn't really note the pivots. As someone that's been in the service industry for a while, I'm very understanding of longer waits for big groups. Maybe my expectations were too high wanting a friendly server. When we asked for the bill, we requested separate bills and it was taking quite long. We followed up on how long it would take and our server said "we usually don't do separate bills for big parties, so it's gonna take a while, you're just gonna have to wait. " The auto gratuity was 21%. I would definitely not have tipped our server 21% simply because the service wasn't great. She probably didn't care too because of the autograt. We went with a group of 4. Ordered two cowboy ribeyes, one surf and turf, and a 3 course set meal. We also got a calamari and a creamed spinach side dish. The prices for steak are between $65-90, so our expectations were quite high. The bone in cowboy ribeye was $82. The meat was aromatic and flavourful but there was alot of tendon - we definitely expected better quality for the price we were paying. Places like Peter's, The School and Octagon have comparable prices and better meat quality. The steaks also don't come with any sides, sides are extra and quite price. The creamed spinach was $15, and other side's like brocolli and fries are also about $15 each. The side dish portion is enough for 2 people. The steaks do come on a very hot plate though, which was nice for keeping the steak warm as we ate it. The surf and turf was $64, came with a 6oz filet and 2 lobster tails. The filet was pretty good, very tender and no tendons. The set course was the most worth it, it was $60 and came with an appetizer (choice between salads and soup), a main (6oz filet with 3 shrimps, or fish, or a chicken), a side (choice of sweet potato fritters, mashed potato, root veggies or creamed spinach) and a dessert (caramel cheesecake). We had the butternut squash soup, filet with shrimp, spinach and cheesecake. All were great and the price felt much more reasonable compared to those who got the cowboy ribeye. Calamari was okay, it is dressed with a sweet and sour sauce, reminded me of a Thai dressing. Cost $23 though, which is not very worth it. Service was okay, reminded me of the keg - definitely not as high class as the fine dining steak places that range in the same price. The servers forgot to give us bread, but packed us some at the end. Overall, I would only come here again for the set course meal, not for their ala carte steak. read more

My Niece was kind enough to treat us to dinner at this location. We all opted for their Ribeye plus sides. Steak was cooked to perfection, dark pink (the way we like it) on the inside, slight 'bark' on the outside. Nice marbleing. Well seasoned. It was delicious. Service was relaxed and friendly but still attentive. In fact all the staff were friendly. A nice change from the stuffy attitude you get from some places. This place is pretty expensive for what it is. Came on Friday at 8:15. Made a reservation online. Made us wait 15 minutes outside which is odd because the place was pretty empty?! Service was good. Our waitress was super sweet and nice. She was attentive and brought us what we needed. She was always there to ask us if we needed anything. Food was OK. My steak ended up being more cooked than asked. The side dishes IMO are ridiculously expensive. I got Brussels sprouts for $17 and corn for another $16. And no gold flakes so I don't know what they charging. They were your typical veggies baked in loads of butter. The ambiance is nice though and they have a good list of wines. We got a free fudge chocolate cake because of a birthday. The cake was amazing though!! read more
