Wild Wing Cafe - Wings

Wild Wing Cafe

Been to Wild Wing cafe of Statesboro dozens of times with groups, in twos, and with the family and…read morehave never, ever had an issue that was not corrected when addressed. The only negative thing I can say about the WWCafe is I do miss the live music. Food is always great. The baked Spinach Dip is great, but they did used to give you more. The serving bowl has become a shallow saucer. Chicken feathers are the way to go if you are not wanting to gorge yourself! Burgers and salads have always been great. Regular fries or sweet potato fries are always hot and fresh. Dipping sauces great, and the wing sauce selection is fantastic. There are some many good flavor combinations that you can have a different sauce every time you dine there. Don't sit there talking and drinking, well after your food has been delivered, and then expect it to still be hot when you finally decide to get around to eating it. Cannot understand the keyboard warrior snowflakes who get on here and bash restaurants, yet they never once asked for a manager to rectify their issue while they are present. Good managers in restaurants will bend over backwards to make sure you enjoy your food and your experience. However, they are NOT mind readers. And true many don't get around to every table, BUT THEY SHOULD. HEAR YE, HEAR YE! MANAGERS DO YOUR JOB, VISIT WITH YOUR GUESTS DURING THEIR MEAL!! However customers should not get on here and bash any restaurant, and I'm not defending, nor do I work at a restaurant. However, just saying, it is your money, your time, your experience, SPEAK UP DURING THE VISIT, not hours, days, or weeks later on a computer! If you give the staff and management a chance to correct the issue in real time, you improve the experience for everyone. Good Managers can turn your feedback into real-time teaching moments for their staff. Bashing via electronic post after the fact does nothing constructive. You are not going to harm their business. There are too many positive people in the world!! Just my two cents!

Loc’s Chicken & Waffles - Waffle Platter

Loc’s Chicken & Waffles

I stopped into Loc's for a quick bite to eat while in the area and it was decent, but nothing…read morespecial. The place was clean and the service was good. It was easily situated in a plaza with several other stores and tons of parking. The food itself was just ok, it was somewhat warm and even the cheese wouldn't melt into the grits.

Was looking for a place to fill our bellies this morning prior to a Georgia Southern University…read moretour. Didn't want the usual Waffle House, IHOP, Cracker Barrel spots that you can find anywhere so we decided to give Loc's a go. Upon walking in it was a nice amount of people which was surprising for a weekday so immediately I thought this must be really good! Well after ordering our food at 10:15am...SOME of our items came out at 11:17am! Now when I say SOME I mean an order of shrimp & grits with only the grits coming to the table...Ummm isn't it a cohesive dish? We waited and flagged our waitress who had to "check" with the kitchen. In the meantime, hubby decided to place his cold grits back under the heat lamp. The waitress ran over to assist and said she will bring the dish back so that they could remake it and add the missing shrimp. Meanwhile...my chicken and waffle dish hadn't arrived. When it finally did, it was lack luster...The chicken was under seasoned and the waffle was lukewarm if that...let's just say the special strawberry butter on top of the waffle didn't melt! SMH. Sweet waitress apologized and begged us to try again. It's because of her why they received an extra star for this review.

El Sombrero Mexican Restaurant - Mixed Chicken and Steak Lunch Fajitas Over Rice. $11.25. Bell peppers, onions, tomatoes, cheese dip.

We had a satisfying lunch at El Sombrero Mexican Restaurant or "El Som" as the locals call it. I…read morethink this place is a rite of passage for people in Statesboro. This is the best restaurant I've been to in Statesboro yet. Here's what my wife and I had: * Mixed Chicken and Steak Lunch Fajitas Over Rice ($11.25) - cooked with bell peppers, onions, and tomatoes, and topped with cheese dip * Lunch Combo Special No. 1 ($9.25) - one chile relleno, one taco, beans and guacamole salad * Guacamole Dip - Small ($4.65) Everything was delicious. This is your standard Americanized Mexican restaurant, complete with complimentary chips and salsa (side note: the chips here are of the thicker, harder, and crunchier variety). I would say this place does the Americanized Mexican restaurant concept well and operates like a well-oiled machine (in business since 1989). Our entrees came out fresh and tasty, but the Guacamole Dip was a bit underwhelming. It looked and tasted like it had been sitting out a while. It was discolored whereas the guac that came with the lunch combo was fresh and vibrant. Service was good. We visited on a Friday for lunch and it was nice and busy, though not absolutely packed. Lots of families. This location on Buckhead Drive is the third and newest of the three "El Som" locations in Statesboro, having opened in 2008. It's relatively nice and known as the "Palace." The original location opened on Fair Road in 1989 and the second location opened in the Publix shopping center on Northside Drive circa 1993-1994.
