They run tons of specials so it's pretty affordable as far as places of this nature goes. You can find great ticket gifts and easily get a lot of tickets. We've done the maze, golf, laser tag and bumper cars. All are great but people rarely do bumper cars so there's not a lot of people to do it with. Games are always running well and the place is very well kept up with.

No tokens or money is needed for none of the games. There's a microwave and refrigerator section for the food in a duck off area of the hall. There's a table and everything to just sit the food on. There's a pop corn machine as well for the kiddies to enjoy!!! Of course parking is very limited. That's the only bad thing About the hall, however the hall itself makes up for this problem. It's not really worth going across the river just for this park. I may have missed that…read more"something" and would love if somebody would send me a note and tell me otherwise, but there isn't anything in this area to do. I did see a couple of coffee shops on my way to this park, but other than that I don't see hordes of people coming over here to this area. I would say you are better off not coming across the river and just go to the 3rd floor of the Riverwalk Mall and let your children play in the indoor play area. There is a nice food court and bathrooms really close by. Based on the previous reviews, and google searches of "things to do with kids in NOLA" I had high expectations of this park. What I saw when I arrived was a junk yard of misfit toys and beat up playground equipment. I know I'm being very critical of a playground for kids, but this is a poor excuse of a playground. In order to get here you need to purchase a ticket for the Ferry. The ferry leaves every 30 minutes and only costs a few bucks. The ride takes about 5 minutes to get across the river. Then it's about a 15 min walk to the park. I wouldn't say the area is unsafe, but I would suggest staying on the main roads if possible. The playground located on a street corner in the middle of a neighborhood. The playground is fenced in which I thought was nice. There were lots of toys inside, some of which were broken. The toys seemed to have been dropped by locals who just didn't want them anymore. There were a few swings, and a play set with a slide. There was also a rather large mulched area where kids can just run around. I will warn you, if it has rained recently then the playground is rather muddy. Over all it was a nice time for my little one to run around outdoors, in an enclosed area. Bathrooms - These seem to be few and far between in this town. The day was saved when I found out there was a coffee shop next door called "One Stone" that had a kid friendly bathroom. There was a really nice changing table in there with spare diapers and wipes. Had it not been for this saving grace we might have left just as soon as we arrived. **Be sure to read my review of "One Stone" as its worth visiting if you come over here for the park. Would I come back? Maybe. "One Stone" was pretty cool, but there are so many closer and better things on the other side of the river that there just isn't much of a draw to come back over here.

It seems like they offer a lot of activities for all ages, and even a pretty large pool out back. It's apparently able to be rented out since the 3 events I've been to in the last year have all been private dancing events. I've been twice for a ballroom dance competition for kids called the Mindsteppers competition as well as a dance recital. There's plenty of parking nearby since where the neutral ground would normally be, they've created angled parking spots. It's the only place in the city where I've seen this, and honestly it's kind of ingenious and this city could use more parking like that as well as more community centers like this one.

The lazy river is artfully done, giving a nod to Louisiana wildlife and nature areas. There are a lot of skillful and friendly lifeguards around the area. There are several different food pavilions, restrooms, locker areas, and areas to sit. There is also a fun water slide, giving homage to the infamous alligators with albinism who have taken residence at the Zoo and Aquarium over the years. This would be a fun place to relax with your kids during one of the summer sessions. My friends and I attending the adults-only Sip and Dip event held on Fridays during the summer. It was very affordable for a private cabana for six with early access. Be sure to reserve your tickets for the event early online as it does sell out. It got a bit crowded toward the end, and they did run out of regular floats, though some preferred the thick floating noodles offered. Every Friday night has a different theme, so there is something for everyone. They bring in Dickie Brennans for the bar, and they were wonderful with decently priced drinks and quality alcohol. They were also creating with the mocktails. I certainly will return for another Sip and Dip either later this summer, if able, or next year. Absolutely worth it!

My first time at Cool Zoo was for the adults-only Friday night party, Sip & Dip. This event is 2X a month during the heart of the summer and features theme nights with DJs and of course since this is NOLA, people get creative and might dress in theme. I went on 80s night and the music was so fun and I loved people wearing neon, 80s tshirts and even hair and make-up. Refreshments stands are spread out among the park and they do a themed cocktail and sell beer, hard seltzer and soft drinks, along with typical concession food and popcorn. I had the cocktail of the evening, the Purple Rain and while it was eye-catching, it was so sweet and possibly strong, too, that I couldn't drink more than 1/4 of it (and it's a huge cup, fairly priced at only $13). The grounds are beautiful with fountains and an area with slides and water features that you'd normally see children dominating (with perfectly good reason) but it was actually fun to see adults having at it on the slides and at the water sprayers. Then there's the lazy river, which is a decent size, warm and full of jets to move you along. We ended up not using flotation devices and swam/walked through it. My main issue and why this event isn't personally my cup of tea: it's too crowded. It sells out but I think they sell far too many tickets. We arrived 15 min after it started and there wasn't a lounge chair nor seat at a table to be found. Cabanas are so cheap here but they sell out immediately ahead of the event, likely the day that tickets go on sale. The only way I'd return was if I could get a cabana. The lazy river is completely packed 45 minutes into the event. We were lucky enough to get a locker (which also sell out so imagine being there without a space to put your things??? how is that fun?). People are in general nice enough to hand over the inner tubes but good luck ever getting a place to sit if you didn't line up in advance of start time. I keep going back between 3 and 4 stars for the main reason that everyone who works here is SO nice. The staff really made everything bearable for me, as they were so welcoming and helpful to point out where the lockers were (there's another set behind the set you initially encounter). I just think this isn't the event for anyone who avoids crowds of people. And the crowd that was there that night were totally fine (at least early in the evening). They just sell too many tickets for me to enjoy it.

Only in the New Orleans area are you going to find a playground right across the street from a…read morecemetery. Talk about your circle of life. Anyway, this is one of the better playgrounds on the Westbank. I think it's pretty new: put up within the last three years or so. I actually found myself here when a friend's kids were looking for a place to play and they seemed to enjoy it. It has all the basic type of playground fun such as swings and things to climb on. The equipment is well maintained and, as Jeremy mentioned, there is rubber matting around the equipment so that the precious angels don't hurt themselves. SIde note: do y'all remember when we were kids and our equipment was either on dirt or concrete? If you acted up and got a skinned knee, you knew not to do that again. And don't get me started on those metal slides that would bake in the sun all day to a nice 200 degrees that you then had to slide down in shorts. No but seriously, the rubber is probably a good idea. There is also some nice green space out there, if you just want to sit and hang out while your kids play. This is a really nice addition to an otherwise quiet part of Huey P. Long Avenue.

There are three separate play structures- two for preschoolers and toddlers and one for ages 5-12- as well as a set of swings, a seesaw and the safest merry go round you will ever see in your entire life (I'm serious- the thing is a single piece of plastic like a giant bowl with molded seats- nothing to get caught on or anything.) Because all of the playground equipment is brand new, it's in great shape. The ground material in the playground area is soft wood chips- watch out if you have a thrower (we have to tell our munchkin to not throw the wood chips every once in a while- it's apparently really, really tempting) There's lots of room for kids to run around and burn off excess energy, and there are benches for parents to sit and chill while watching the kids go wild. There's an art thingy recently added- made by local school kids- at the side of the park, so yay! for extra visual interest! The biggest disadvantage is a lack of shade- so during hot summer days it's not a good idea to head to the playground. Go in the mornings or late evenings in summer and save the afternoon trips to Gretna Heritage Playground for the cooler months of the year.
