We came here in June and it was a hot day, of course, but we brought our dog and went anyway! There was so much more than I thought there would be. They have a little grocery like shop, that sells charcuterie board ingredients, they sell snacks, bottles of wine, and coffee. There are a couple of swings outside and more seating under the shade there. So you could easily come here, buy wine (they supply the bucket for the wine), cheeses and some meats, and have a romantic picnic! The other food options you have are the lobster roll, which is the most expensive item at like $40 for just the small roll and some chips, but really is worth it - at least once! They have burgers, snowballs, soft serve, bbq, and crawfish. They don't let you bring in chairs, there really is plenty. And no cash, just credit card. You can bring your kids and furbabies though. There plenty of greenery to bring a ball or a frizbee and play with yoru peeps or furbabies. They have bathrooms as well. It is a great way to spend a few hours and I am so happy this space is here!

Definitely would recommend to visit if you never have been! So beautiful and spacious!

For me, I like a much longer trail; whereas, I don't feel like I'm walking around in small circle lol. Walking in mixed terrains makes me feel like I'm walking further. This park has a fitness section with lots of equipment to exercise with and a park for the kiddos. I like that it's a family friendly park, nice and clean with restrooms, a water fountain and books for reading. I'm definitely planning to visit more.

The Bonnabel Boat Launch is a great place to spend some time outdoors. Of course as the name…read moreimplies, there are several boat launch areas allowing you to explore Lake Pontchartrain by boat or jet ski- but this little area has so much more to offer! There is a relatively small, but fully functioning dog park. We loved to visit this park when Gypsy was a pup (and only dog)! She loved running through the tunnel and jumping over the agility bars. There is a well kept play area for children. Matthew isn't quite old enough yet to utilize the equipment, but I'm sure we will begin visiting this area frequently over the next year. They have a great walking path along the lake that is perfect for biking, running or walking with a stroller, as well as a few piers where you can cast a few lines and try your luck fishing. Finally there's what everyone comes here for- the views! Most of the time we just like to park the truck in the lot near the lake and just sit to people watch and enjoy the scenery. It's the perfect spot to kick back with a few drinks or some snoballs! I love the Bonnabel Boat Launch! It's the perfect place to spend time with family and friends enjoying each others company and the great outdoors.

There's also space to launch a boat or kayak if you want to do that. BEWARE OF ALLIGATORS!!!!!!! The signs aren't a joke! Especially if you are there with a pet, have great caution when near the water. I say this because many people take their dogs down to the pavilion by the boat launch because that's where the hose is located. Keep your dog on a SHORT leash and beware of your surroundings. Gators like to hang there right around the corner.

This place is prime for outdoor activities, family gatherings etc. I don't know what the policies are for use, but it's worth looking into.

And the other side (uptown) has a jungle gym for the kiddies and some open area. Nicely there is a short fence on the Napoleon side of the park with the playground, but NOT on the Magazine side so definitely keep an eye on runaway kids. These parks are bit better maintained than Samuel Square and don't seem to be as full of dogpoop. So that's nice. Now that the Napoleon construction is almost completed perhaps they will be more usable and less dusty.

The green spaces are open. Next to a library branch there's a full b-ball court often abuzz with pick-up games which also happens to be adjacent to a police precinct no less. Additionally just across the street is Ms Mae's if you get thirsty for adult beverages. It can be challenging to park given the enormity of things nearby. Also, almost ALL the Uptown parades roll right by here. I would totally use this park much more if I lived closer.
