Why the land was never transferred from the Parish to the City is a good question. Who knows how all that works. The important thing is that it's still a gem of a park and it avoided being developed into McMansions for now.

I took a chance in hopes that the playground would not be muddy. It was not! Despite the rain 30 minutes before the slides and tunnels were fit for playing. One of the littles took a tumble and hard fall. After a few minutes of shock crying he declared he was good and ran to play some more. There are plenty of trees for shade and there are washrooms. We didn't use them but the littles were able to expend energy to support afternoon nap time.

This park has a fitness section with lots of equipment to exercise with and a park for the kiddos. I like that it's a family friendly park, nice and clean with restrooms, a water fountain and books for reading. I'm definitely planning to visit more.

No Mom and Pop trinkets sold here. Many of the artists sell their ware in local shops all over town. When you buy from the artist here, you are putting money directly in their pocket. The New Orleans Arts Council does a great job of picking a highly talented group of artists. The overall selection is quite varied. On days when they have the art market you can expect a few food vendors, live music and the myriad of artists I mentioned above. However, there is a really nice children's park area and lots of open ground to run, frolic or walk your doggy. This mature park is shaded by several trees that add to the overall beauty of the park. I don't think this is an officially designated NORD playground since it's not on their website, so maybe it's in that quasi-category more of a park or playspot. There's plenty of parking and some street parking available also. There's a soft ball field for those participating in the leagues and gazebos around for those eating and grilling. The only thing I don't like is the loitering of the unsavory types in the parking lots. Especially when it gets dark outside. We all come to a park to unite and socialize, play and do it for the youths and our own health benefits. A park should always be a happy place not a one where it's intimidating or if you hesitate if it's too dangerous to bring your kids around.
