This South Bay neighborhood has their Christmas-Holiday spirit on point! It is a freebie and as with most residential Candy Cane Lanes they can get swarmed and a bit overrun and times with people. This is a park and walk vs. drive through experience I would say and depending on what time you arrive you may have a small walk to actually get to the heart of things. Each of the homes in the somewhat smallish area designated as Candy Cane Lane does a wonderful job sharing their individual displays. Some are themed up and some are just beautifully decorated from roof top to street side. I am sure at one point nearly every home in the immediate area was a participant and over time it has dwindled a bit. If you live are in the area or maybe making a jaunt to or from LAX this may be a good way to swing into a place that will wash that bah humbug right out of you. read more

Dec 14-26 @7pm Fyi because of the delay opening was beyond over crowded felt like Disney.. it wasn't as fun to see an enjoy ...will try later on again since we are not far.. very much recommend to go on a week day if your able to! weekend will always have more ppl. Torrance is a drive by experience great for bigger kids but any toddler n younger won't be able to enjoy since their seat are rear facing so El segundo is great because they can get close up look and since the block is close you don't worry about traffic... we have been doing it for over 17 yrs now.. and it's become tradition for our family to walk down to see it.. and now I have a 1yr old who loves lights ..cant wait to see his face when he see there lights and art work!!! Fun, family friendly atmosphere. Some of the houses were real show stoppers! I am new to the area and wanted to do something that the locals enjoy. I would definitely come back every year. This is a community event that a residential neighborhood opens it's streets with welcoming efforts of creating a festive environment for their neighbors as well as visitors from out of the area. Too often you hear of certain communities up in arms about creating events like Halloween Trick or Treating for "their" residential neighborhood and holding outsiders to both disdain as well as socio-economic (yeah, racist and prejudiced) criticism of "them vs us" It's refreshing to see the Christmas Spirit here not fall victim to those ugly politics. It's a nice aesthetic stretch where they turn the street into a non-transit corridor, with police actually blocking / barricading the area for people to walk freely without any cars coming and going. The adjacent streets are sprinkled with holiday cheer as well. There are all sorts of pockets within the Los Angeles area and the South Bay Beach Cities who play host to a rather informally organized showcase of spirit, and it's appreciated that it's family friendly and free for all to enjoy. I'd say for all who attend or may attend in the future, just keep it respectful to the residents who host. Don't step on their lawns. Don't damage their displays out of accident, over-zealous engagement (don't touch!), or malice. Park legally and don't block driveways nor box in other cars. It's family friendly, so refrain from profanity. Leave the attitude, drama and any aggression at home, avoid conflict. Don't litter, keep the area clean and put your trash in your bag or pocket. We came here on a weekday around 6pm. Not overly crowded but there were a lot of people. It was my first time after hearing about it for so many years. My little nephews had a great time. The homes are beautifully decorated, lit up, giving perfect holiday cheer. Everyone visiting were enjoying themselves. Why not? leave your crappy attitude at home! It's the holidays! Parking is available in surrounding neighborhood(be respectful of people's property), they have security to keep everyone safe. Absolutely WONDERFUL! what a great little treat to have at our disposal, just down the street in our little town. we went to Sleepy Hollow in Torrance last year and that was amazing, but, quite expansive. i don't even believe we were able go through the entire experience. this Candy Cane lane in El Segundo is perfect in its's size as well as its' attractions. short and sweet is an interchangable description to match both this Candy Cane lane and the town of El Segundo itself. located on the northeast most part of ES, close to the major streets of Sepulveda and Imperial Hwy, it is situated in a cul de sacon on Acacia that is blocked off. perfect for all the families walking around so as not to have to worry about traffic with the kiddies running around from sparkly house to sparkly house. easiest way to navigate: from Sepulveda go west on Maple then north on California to Acacia. from Imperial Hwy, take California south through the little loop, west on little Imperial (avenue), south on Center then east on Acacia. this time of the year, you can probably also just follow everyone else. this Candy Cane lane has been around since 1949. that's a pretty long tenure. lots of cute little attractions at each residence. there's a huge train set that covers an entire front yard, a couple movie screens showing christmas movies, a north pole airport "replica" similar to the one Santa uses on his Christmas Eve flight and so many beautiful light combos. and with the blocked off street, you can just stand right in the center and just absorb it all. get here early to avoid not being able to find parking. it's all residential parking in the area. even if you park a little ways away, the houses outside of the designated Cany Cane lane were just as wonderful. this was a great experience that we highly recommend. read more

Nice Christmas tradition that's fun for the kids and family. There is really only one long block that is fully decorated. The block before and after have a few houses done up also to whet your appetite! One of the houses was giving up popcorn, another house candy canes, and hot chocolate. At the end of the street there was a long line of about 50 people waiting to meet with Santa. There are two vendors on the street selling flashing light toys which was fun for the kids in the dark. Overall it was fun. You'll need to park a few blocks away and walk in. read more

This has become our yearly tradition to get out there with the kids and enjoy the Christmas lights. One would never have guessed this tucked-away cul-de-sac near the airport unless you heard about it. Park a block or two away and hot cocoa or cider in hand, meander your way to 'Candy Cane Lane' by following the crowd. Kids friendly and there's even Santa on certain nights waiting at the end of the road to take pictures with on his sleigh. Grab a mini candy cane from his cheery elf on your way out to check out more lights on your way back out. Each house is nicely decorated, some more extravagant than others but all had a personal and creative touch! (see pics posted). A couple was at their front gate, making balloon figures for a donation -- kids seem to love it. There's even an outdoor movie theatre playing some classic Xmas movie. It's not the biggest Xmas streets lights but nor is it the most crowded. Plus not far to drive for the locals on the Westside. Not too bad of a tradeoff and we'll continue coming back year after year. read more

Happy Holidays, fellow Yelpers! As the holidays approach, I thought I would write a review on Candy Cane Lane in El Segundo that I recently stumbled upon. My neighborhood has Christmas lights, but it definitely is not super jazzed up. When I was a kid, my parents took me to the random neighborhoods that had the best Christmas lights ever. (Who knows how my parents found this without Yelp???) But, as an adult, I have found similar neighborhoods with mixed reviews. The other famous Candy Cane Lane in the Valley, I have been to. But, it was sort of disappointing as it was hard to walk with no sidewalks and too many cars. This year, I found this Candy Cane Lane in El Segundo due to Yelp and thought I would give it a try. First off, parking can be a little tricky as there is LOTS of people. But, be patient and drive a few blocks over and you will be sure to find spots. I parked about 3 blocks over. As you approach Candy Cane Lane (the address on Yelp is pretty accurate), you can enjoy other houses around the area that also has amazing lights. But, the finale is the one block of Candy Cane Lane. When I went there, you were not allowed to drive through the block. But, this did give people more opportunity to maneuver around as there was more space because we could walk on the streets. This was an added plus because there is ALOT of people in just one block. But, the houses are amazing!! Each house is decorated to the nines. At the end of the block, there is a Santa Claus that take pictures. But, warning, the line is SUPER long. Also there was a house that was selling desserts, coffee, etc. (I believe they said that they were donating to a local school sports team). So, bring cash if you want some snacks. I would definitely check this place out for the holidays. It's great for kids and adults. It's also free as an added bonus. read more

There are other houses in the area with lights, but it isn't as focused and grand. Great for family (many people bringing babies/toddlers/children/puppies), so remember to bring a warm jacket since it is winter time. The holiday season is my absolute fav time of year and one of my fav activities is to watch Christmas lights. One of my friends told me about this place, and then I Yelped it and knew I had to make a trip this year! My boyfriend and I came on Christmas Eve around 6 PM. It is easy to find, follow the address on Yelp and it will take you right there. Parking is a little tough but we actually found parking quickly and not super far away. Be prepared to walk some though. I don't know if they do this every night, but on Christmas Eve, the street was blocked off. You cannot drive, only walk. Which is sooo much safer anyways! Knowing it was Christmas Eve, we thought it would be packed. But it wasn't super bad around 6 ish PM. Lots of families and little ones! This street is super super lit and I love it! It was so much fun walking through the street looking at the amazing lights. AndI love how the actual street is called CANDY CANE LANE! Love it!! All the houses were decorated which made it even more magical. On this night, it was actually very cold in Cali so it felt like Christmas Eve and it was just an amazing experience. I would def recommend adding this to your Christmas festivities list! We have added it to ours. Can't wait until next year! read more

Extremely disappointed in the changes that have been made to this event. It's a family favorite but when I went tonight the street was closed to drive thru traffic. I have an elderly mother on oxygen who loves to see the lights but can't physically handle the walk. Unfortunately we drive about 25 minutes to visit the area only to find out we were not able to drive thru so we saw a few displays but not the homes that go all out. read more

This would be my first time going to Candy Cane Lane. I loved it! The houses look so beautiful with all those lights. I'm so amazed at how creative some people can be. We took the little ones (my 3yr old niece and my 8 yr old nephew), they were speechless. which was a good sign. Lol. The parking situation is a bit hectic since it can and will get packed (as the days get closer to Christmas) but we got lucky and found parking a block away from there. The kids didn't mind the walk since we got to see some nice lit up houses on the way. People are friendly and everyone is respectful. There are not street vendors which is cool I guess. I would suggest bringing a cup of coffee or hot chocolate to go along with the scenery. Make sure to take attire that will keep you and the kiddos warm. Definitely a place to go check out. read more

Due to the rain, we missed Candy Cane Lane at night this year and instead went during the day. This did not allow for us to see any lights, but we were able to slowly and meticulously enjoy the decorations. I also was able to speak to a homeowner and thank them for their hard work and dedication. He said that meant a lot to him because they do work hard for our enjoyment. So.... If you can't make it at night, don't rule out checking out this lovely Lane during the day. Bonus: The block across the street (not blocked off) is in the Spirit too. Now you get 2 whole blocks of Holiday Fun. Remember to keep respectful of people's property. Almost every home has a fence up now because of people messing with their expensive ornaments. Whew! Finally something very positive to reflect on!!! Like some of the reviewers previously stated, it's only one block of Christmas lights and decorations, but it's so worth checking out!! And even more so, if your already familiar with the city of El Segundo. Enough said. Actually, the one block or "Candy Cane Lane" as it's known during Christmas time appears to have unofficially extended; When driving off Center Street and turning onto Acacia, driving down you'll see almost most homes are all lit and decorated!! Once you get near the end or towards the cul de sac, you'll see that it's blocked off. Obviously so one can walk and enjoy it, especially for those with little ones :) Those houses put a lot of energy and care into every detail of creativity when it comes to decorating! And it's not those boring Christmas inflatables that some people throw on their lawns and plug in with a timer. A lot of heart goes into it, it's like walking back in time when people back in the day used to take their time, put their thoughts, hearts and souls into it. And yes, that is Santa Claus there with a line of kiddies waiting to say hi and tell him their Christmas list. One of great few things to enjoy that the city of El Segundo (and those residents) do for the community and holidays!! read more

What a Marvelous and Magical place! If you are having trouble getting into the Christmas Holiday mood - this is the place to go. Hey! This is the place if you are in the Christmas Holiday mood. I came here on the first day of the season. The fire department was there giving tours to little kids of their truck. The police was there taking pictures with little kids and showing them their cars. The homeowners were super friendly and they all did an amazing job in their decorations. When you go - wear comfortable shoes, bundle up and if you are the hot-cocoa person - I encourage you to bring it along. The streets are close so families with children do not have to worry about kids being run-over by a car while you admire the beautiful Christmas lights. On this particular day I went - they had a tent at the end of the street with Santa! There was a line of kids taking pictures. The sled was collecting can goods. This is a family friendly, joyfuly, relaxing, magical and full of warmth for all. I highly recommend. The only reason for the one short star (which it should really only be half of a star is.... my family was expecting to be able to buy hot chocolate there. But, its really not a big deal. But, we were really hoping for it. We even had prepared ourselves with single dollar bills in the hopes that some neighborhood kid had a "hot chocolate stand". read more

Candy Cane Lane remind me like Hasting Ranch Christmas Lane in Pasadena but is better organized and more focus in one area. Every house was very well decorated, at top they also have a Santa Greeting section as well. Which make it completed. There was a bit of people but isn't too bad. There were pretty of parking in surround area. So close to the Airport, make a must visit if you in the area. This would be a nice treat for those who just land the airport. read more

I had a good time walking with the family. Yes, bring your own hot drink because it gets cold. Don't forget the strollers for the little ones and Santa is waiting at the end of the street. About the houses, there are some that won't be decorated. But those that are, some will blow your mind. To me the one with the train stood out the most. Inspired by a Dave Berg "The Lighter Side" feature in a MAD magazine issue of yore, whenever I see a house massively bedecked in Christmas lights, I comment about its inhabitants, "Boy, they must be really religious!" Maybe you had to be there to read the strip yourself, but if my foggy recollection sufficiently conveys Berg's ironic wit, Candy Cane Lane on Acacia Street in El Segundo must be considered one devout destination during the winter holidays. Two of the houses on the one-block cul-de-sac had a Charles Schulz "Peanuts" theme, two others paid tribute to Mickey Mouse, and my favorite, of course, had a "Toyland Express" electric train circling a plot on the front lawn. A few houses displayed ice-blue plastic rods with an inner LED chaser circuit that simulates flowing water. One house had several of those on the right side of the roof, and red ones on the left running skyward that suggested a roof fire. Clear lights, colorful lights, floodlights and motorized displays worked together on the block, barricaded to allow spectators car-free, carefree passage. It was a pleasant diversion on the way to Manhattan Beach Fry's a couple nights after Christmas. However, some of the neighbors appeared to have shut down their displays earlier in the evening, or possibly right after Santa had come and gone. So I was specifically told to come in off PCH & Prospect -PV Blvd that way it is way less crowded. Hint was from a local and after we tried it this was the result. Also a group of friends and I tried coming on Nov. 29 since reading the reviews, the same time last year the street was set up. However going so early this year we were told that the actual lighting of the neighborhood doesn't officially start until December 8. read more

I am not a child anymore but thanks to Candy Cane Lane in El Segundo I got to be one again, and this experience proved to be almost magical. Each house is a Christmas wonder and we walked the whole street in awe at some of the Christmas displays. This is truly a place to see during Christmas time if you have children... Or if you are still one at heart. The inhabitants of this street should get a reward, for they do all of this for free and to allow other people to enjoy themselves and get in the Christmas spirit. I'm in my twenties and this was my first time experiencing something like this, i've only seen so many Christmas lights on one block in movies! Free parking if you find a spot, free event, they don't sell food or anything and "Santas" at the end of the lit up block. I think this is a good place for families to bring their small children or if you just want to get out the house and do something fun but free. It's a beautiful site and people didn't act crazy or anything. There likely will be a line to see Santa! It was very, very cold you'll do no harm in bringing like two sweaters and a jacket to go on top of those. The block is located in El Segundo right beside the 105 freeway. Our 1st time here. I really loved it. Every house was deced out. It was great. I liked the walk. It was better then being in the car. It's harder to see in the car cause traffic has to keep moving. It's not like the one in Valencia but this place sure was great. A+ in my book. They have the street blocked but it wasn't hard to find parking. They have Santa at the end of the street and hot cocoa but we missed that. Once house had a movie theme playing a Christmas movie. The experience was great and it's a great place to come to see great lights and set ups of Christmas. Lights were still on when we were leaving at 9:45pm.
