I genuinely can say that Dr. Halweg's knowledge, expertise, diagnostic help, and treatment plans have kept my boys alive through serious mental health issues, ADD/ADHD, ASD, anxiety, and times of depression. He has always been very conservative with his suggested treatments, starting with changes in diet, daily habits, supplements or exercise before we tried prescription medication...which I appreciated. When necessary, his knowledge of medication and how different parts of the brain work or react has been critical to pinpointing any changes or expectations. I always think meeting in person is more engaging, but the fact that he offers telemedicine options has been incredibly helpful through Covid or other locational moves such as college for my kids. Dr. Halweg also has always treated my husband and I as welcome participants in my children's sessions too, since we could provide insight for better care. Dr Halweg will get to the bottom of an issue, its root causes, and offer suggested treatments or strategies better than anyone else we've used during our almost 20 years of therapy for our family. He knows brains and behaviors, and sweet Aja is a welcome bonus to all interactions!

I was essentially told I had to decide that minute (like literally THAT MINUTE) if I would accept an upcoming appointment in a few weeks. I'm in treatment with a different acupuncturist - it's been 8 months after all - and I needed a moment to think about this. I wanted to review my care plan and goals after not hearing from this practice for so long. Very much caught off guard. I asked if I could have time to think (I wanted about an hour), and was told no - I would need to decide right then THAT MINUTE - and she needed to proceed down the waitlist. I felt extremely pressured to make a decision on the spot, in a very vulnerable aspect of health care - fertility and women's health. I was about to say yes, and then after thinking about it for the three seconds I had and how unprofessional this all felt - my answer turned to a hard "no." This practice made me feel like a mark, a number, an insignificant person on a list to get through until they hit their client booking goals. It's 2026 & I've been looking for the right place to do a review on this dr 20 years ago. After all…read morethese years I am still wondering what we did wrong during our second visit with him and after my husband's second total knee replacement on the same knee. Dr. Suga just dropped us as a patient, just like that, even saying good luck, take care and all this good stuff before the surgery. After rehab, we tried to make an appointment to see him but he wouldn't speak to us and after a while they wouldn't pick up their phone. I knew he had just opened up his business, & I would've gone there for an explanation but I sort of suspected, till today, that this dr didn't really care for my (spouse)answering all the questions directed to my husband at the time of our first visit. I may have sounded like a domineering wife to him but I knew my husband to be forgetful, especially the trauma he had gone through with his first TNR. I must say I am surprised Dr. Suga is still doing business. He was not there when my husband needed him the most after surgery, not even a phone call to check how he was doing. Anyway, we are blessed to find a real PCP. Dr Suga, was it prejudice, was it insurance, do you not like women? What was it???

Dr Suga gave us (daughters) no indication of this termination. In fact, we learned about this when we called his office to follow up. He had his receptionist, "Maria", relay to us that, "He will not speak to you (or your father)". Not only did Dr Suga suddenly ended his treatment, but he couldn't even explain to us what happened. I believe that Dr. Suga didn't like us sharing our thoughts/ideas for our dad's care (eg. Dr stated that our dad was "depressed" and "lazy" when we felt his symptoms could be from a stroke w/speech and gait issues). We suggested an MRI and Dr Suga reluctantly agreed. The results confirmed a Subdural Hematoma. In the end, Dr didn't do LTC forms as he said he would. This would help us get the appropriate services and financial support for our dad's treatment. And Maria said, " Dr Suga will not be filling out the forms ... and he will no longer be (our dad's) PCP". It's been about 6mos since Dr Suga terminated our dad. It's taken us time to start from ground zero while "on the fly" helping our dad get his medical care. Gratefully the new PCP is caring, sharp, professional and welcomes the family as part of the team. We look to a PCP that has our dad's best interest in mind. Unfortunately, Dr Suga did more harm than good.

We are promoting Cannabis as a medicine (Medical Marijuana). We have a NEED FOR POLITICAL ACTION. SEE HOW YOU CAN BE INVOLVED. ALOHA. ABOUT Dr. David J. Barton M.D.: David J. Barton MD has been a physician for over 28 years. He is board certified in Pain Medicine by the American Board of Pain Medicine. Past board certifications include General Surgery (1992) and Plastic Surgery (1995). Lifetime member of the prestigious American Society of Plastic Surgeons. Present member of the American Academy of Pain Medicine and the International Cannabinoid Research Society. Military service: United States Army Reserve, General Surgeon, Medical Corp Officer, Major, 1990-1999, with temporary active duty in Desert Storm. Current Chief Medical Officer of Malama First, LLC., a non-profit organization for the enhancement of healthcare and well being in native Hawaiians. E-Mail: hawaiipain@gmail.com I was a practicing plastic surgeon until I developed neck pain and cervical disc hernias. I had two level neck fusion surgery which made things worse, a not too uncommon result of cervical spine surgery. I have lived in the "Pain World" for over 15 years. I retrained in Pain and Palliative Care at the University of Utah in 2003, completing a rigorous fellowship which allowed for my third board certification. I was an orthodox Pain Doc until I came to realize that there are a lot of holes in regular "western" or what I call "corporate" medicine. A lot of conditions and syndromes do NOT have good or satisfying treatments, and people and families are left to suffer. Too many of my patients just lived month to month on a handful of different types of medications, all of which were narcotics, or heavily controlled substances, leading to dependency. If the goals of improved functionality and well-being are of prime importance, then any substance or effective treatment technique is valid. There is NOTHING morally superior about pills and patches and pharmaceutical drugs, versus a plant that is well known for its safety. Some can even claim that "Herbs" are ordained of God. That is the bottom line: it is safer than nearly all the usual medications out there! I am not advocating that patients start smoking pot. There are other delivery systems and modalities which are quite promising in the reduction of pain, including ointments, lotions, tinctures, and edibles besides the use of vaporizers. The truth of reality is that the majority of patients prefer to smoke cannabis, which allows for easy tit-ration or metering of the dosage. Shortly, I will have up on this website a lot of the scientific and medical studies which show the exciting world of cannabinoids, and how they "fill the gaps" in the medical world of pain. I have an old website at www.ecpain.com if you would like to learn more about pain, and the various wisdom of coping with it. Another bottom line is the fact that those who suffer with chronic pain and other disabling conditions will do whatever it takes to obtain relief, even if it does not follow the dictates of the Federal Government, or the personal opinions of some law enforcement individuals, who might feel some special privilege in acting against medical cannabis patients, the law and the Will of the People of Hawaii. All Hawaiians must stand for what is right in protecting those who are the most at risk and least able to protect themselves. There is enough shame and fear in the world, let alone the world of disability and pain. There is a great deal of suffering in the world. Most politicians and regulators do not see it. Perhaps they are just not compassionate. Medical Cannabis can be the best answer for many of these poorly treated conditions.

Dr. Roh and his team of SUPER AMAZING PROFESSIONALS took EXCELLENT CARE of me and have my utmost HONOR and RESPECT with regards to all aspects of my treatment!!! -- On January 9, 2001, I had sustained a low lumbar injury following an outpatient medical procedure (spinal tap) to "rule-out" Meningitis. Something went array, blacked out, woke up in ER. Long-story-short, I been living with a low lumbar injury for close to 25 YEARS and the inevitable outcome from wear-n-tear, age, etc., started to show it's "ugly head" around beginning of October 2023 while I was working in Kauai (memorable experience). Pain, gradually started getting worse every week, down my right buttocks, thigh, whole right leg was swollen down to toes to the point I was unable to stand, walk, or let alone drive. Driving was my job! I had a Class B CDL since April 2012. I was even an Operations Trainer for an AWESOME "Employee Owned" Tourism and Transportation Company. I want to give a "shout-out" to Dr. Jeffrey Roh for thoroughly explaining everything to me pre/post-op stuffs. I think he was talking to me while I was recovering from anesthesia and I was getting kinda emotional. Mahalo nui loa again for taking AWESOME CARE of me!!! I would also like to express my sincere gratitude for Dr. Roh' team. I think I remember majority everyone's name (maybe). Here goes: Robert, for letting my wonderful wife (yeah, she is) and I in a little early through a side door and for making us laugh at such a nervous and anxious moment. Serena or Sara (front desk) for check me in early and being really sweet. Rachel, IV Nurse for sticking my hand. It didn't hurt at all. Gentle as can be! Ched, for making me laugh, feel really at ease, and bringing me over to the Operating Room. Ashley, for explaining the anesthesia process and what you were going to do with the tube you were inserting in my throat to help me breath and keep constant watch of me during surgery. You were so gentle inserting tube in my throat I didn't feel anything afterwards. No pain or any discomfort. Martin, for being Dr. Roh' right-hand man and you're the Spinal Nerve Specialist and would place sensors all over my head and body to detect anomalies during procedure, something like that. Maiyu, for taking care of me post-op and offering me some Water, Apple juice, and Sprite, even though I could've sworn you said "Rice" and my wife kept saying, "Not Rice, she said Sprite" and you were both laughing. But it wasn't registering in my brain maybe due to anesthesia and I kept thinking "Rice" but I was hungry too lol Also for Maiyu assisting my wonderful wife and I all the way to the car and helping me get in. Above and Beyond = AWESOME. Mahalo Maiyu!!! Also, the one Nurse who made everything so funny before leaving the clinic. I was literally laughing on the "inside"- Luckily, I don't remember your name. But, you were looking for your phone in my recovery room and all over the place. Including your own bag like 2 or 3 times. And I could see you getting flustered. It seemed like an eternity because you just wanted to go home. Then, you slowed down looked in your bag and it was at the "bottom" -- Yes, idk why, Mahalo for making me laugh!!! That Anesthesia was gooood :) OH, and Mahalo to Maddie for calling me yesterday, to check and see how I'm doing. She said she didn't meet me the day of my surgery because she was off. She also recommended I call to make telehealth appointment with Cheryl for follow-up with Sara. I can't believe I remember most of your names. I'll re-read and check my post later. Hopefully I not way out there. I'll explain how, i had been suffering from severe chronic pain to my lower back, neck as well as left ankle this pain after seeing every specialist in Sydney Australia which is where i am from all I was told was that my pain symptoms are too complex and the only treatment they could offer me was Opiods(Narcotic) painkillers, which i began to take everyday this i did for about over 5 years with some degree of success! However one day in late August 2017 i just woke up with this crazy all i can call is Suicidal 10/10 pain to my neck, back and left ankle just like as if a sharp knife was being stabbed into my back! I imeadiatly went to my spinal surgeon who right away trasfered me to a private pain clinic in a majoer hospital, There they just continued to dose me up with more oxycontin doubble what i was taking then endone a faster acting opiod as well as a few Morphine shots all to no avail i was in so much pain i just wanted to die like jump out the window or something my quality of life was zero and i was desperate! So thats when i decided to seek my own reseach on this kind of pain and any treatments as my body had just come to a stage where it just would not accept any more pain meddication. During this research i fortunately came accross Dr Micheal Pasquale clinic and read that he was using this cutting edge pain management treatment called Ketamine Ifusion treatment for pain that no longer reponds to opiods! I was so desperate that i rand them and Dr Pasquale immeadiately agreed to treat me. So the following day I was on a plane fron Sydney to Honolulu for this treatment! Basically i can say that Dr Pasquale saved my life as when i got there and prior to strating the treatment i literally was suicidal not because i was deppressed but just because of my constant unbearable chronic pain! So what happened i started the treatment for the first two days enjoying the 4hour treatment experience however a few hours afterwards my pain would come back although not as bad b may 7/10. However after the third days treatment that was it my pain levels had dropped to just 2-3/10 and also I was able to half my high dose intake of the oxycontin from 320mgs a day to just 160mgs a day and then everyday just got better and better! My treatment was suppose to be fo 7 days but I decided to extend it by 3 more to ten! It was truly a miracle treatment on the internet it explains that Ketamine is whats called a dissasocative. Anasthetic so how it works to my understanding is that it during those 4 hour everyday disconnect the body from the brain and help the body and brain to forget all those chronic pain pathways that it has created. Anyway thats my understanding of it! The one thing is that there is no guarantee has to how long the treatment will last it could be 6 months or a year or indefinately this treament reacts differently to each person! But i believe or would much prefer to go and have this pleasent Ketamine Infusion treatment one a year even if I have to fly halfway around the world to have it instead of being addicted to morphine and opiods which come with all its side effects! I sincerely reccomend seeing the team at Ketamine Clinics of Hawaii Dr Anthony Michael Pasquale to treat you if yiu too are suffering fron severe pain Ketamine really works! Kind Regards, Daniel.C

After finding Advanced Psychiatric Therapeutics I'm so glad I kept advocating for myself. During my first zoom consultation with Dr. Jeremy Roberts I could feel how much he cared. His compassion and kindness was evident. After the hard work that Kristen, the office angel, put in working with my insurance company, I was approved for Spravato. I'm monitored closely by Dr. Roberts and Kristen is always checking on me and making sure I'm in a good place. Walking in the office feels like walking in a friend's home, there's no "doctor office" vibe at all. The most important thing I feel is a sense of safety, knowing that I'm in caring and competent hands. Anyone living with TRD knows that it's not an easy journey and perfection doesn't exist. But to have my life back and to see a good future for myself is a true blessing.
