What stood out most to me is how much he respected my real-life stressors and not just symptoms to treat with medications. When I faced a difficult situation at work, Dr. Imanaka didn't hesitate to advocate for me. He helped with timely documentation, never downplayed my experience, and always made sure I understood my options without pushing anything I wasn't ready for. He's incredibly responsive, compassionate, and professional. I never felt rushed or dismissed during our appts. He's also one of the very few psychiatrists I've had who actually engages like a full human being, not just a clipboard with a prescription pad. For the last two years he has been treating my ADHD and insomnia, I have always felt supported with genuine care and respect. If you need someone who actually shows up for their patients and treats mental health care with respect, see Dr. Imanaka.

I was at a loss, especially as I depended on the medications prescribed to me by this individual. Unsure as to what I could do, I started reaching out to various providers to start seeing someone new. It took me a month, but I finally came across Dr. Blaisdell. I left a message with her, and I got a quick call back that very same day. And I have been seeing Dr. Blaisdell since that day. Dr. Blaisdell is a very warm, yet practical individual, and she helped me to navigate some of the toughest times in my life. She always listened with an open heart and mind and provided me with advice, suggestions, and resources that would help me through difficulties, as well as the activities of everyday life. She doesn't believe in overmedicating someone because of issues, but instead she tries (and successfully) so to reach a balance between medication and therapy. I truly appreciate her very pragmatic approach and I have been a lot more stable and feeling like myself ever since I started seeing her. I would like to thank Dr. Blaisdell for her time and energy, her expertise, and her commitment. I feel safe. I feel comforted. I feel like I can go on.

I was reaching out to her again because I've been under her care since March 2019. I had a major depressive episode. I had suicidal ideation thoughts. I had to step down from a supervisory position in my company. Thankfully at that time, my social worker sister called me everyday and I recovered. I was able to step back up into my supervisory job. I am in the healthcare field and when Covid started and lasted so long, it impacted my company tremendously. By March of 2022, I started to experience depression once again. With both episodes, FMLA done to give me time off and protect my job. Last week I reached to her again due to anxiety and panic attacks. Yesterday with in the first few minutes of the session when I explained that I had looked into the requirements of filing for FMLA with the new automated intake system, her tone of voice changed. She told me she doesn't do FMLA anymore. She said it's really difficult to find a new practitioner who is willing to a new patient in short notice. At the same time within pausing for a beat, okay to $25 for the session today and right away the charge came up the screen. It took me by surprised. I paid it right away. Then she referred me to a provider. She is doing all of this during the session, emailing me his information and the session came to end. I started to feel a sense of hopelessness again after the call but logic return. Started thinking clearly, did Google search and found there are available doctors taking new patients. With two MDE, I am in a very fragile state of mind, having a difficult time with toxic coworkers. I understand about boundaries and setting limits, so when Dr. Blaisdell-Brennan told me she couldn't help me this time. I was okay with it. But, the way I felt she was addressing me was just very disrespectful and unsettling. My username here on YELP is not my real name so there will be no record in your business, Dr. Blaisdell-Brennan. You have the right to respond to this review but don't try to discount it. I am taking the time to write this review because I know how hard it is to find trustworthy medical professionals, how important it is to be able to trust a doctor who is going to prescribe powerful medications to you. The health care industry is broken. As a patient or someone seeking help for a loved one, you really need to take the time to do the research to find a practitioner who can help. Mental health is so important and getting it back may take a long time. Find someone who will partner with you to do it.

Speaking with Ryan of Assess Hawaii is one of the best interactions I had in my 14 years of managing my son's diagnosis. I have been making calls to search for specialists/therapists/schools and scheduling appointments for my son...those calls were all straight-forward and transactional - I can't complain because it gets the job done. But when I called Assess Hawaii, I was assisted by Ryan - he was extremely pleasant, informative and efficient professional. it felt like speaking with someone who already knows me and my son. Ryan faithfully followed through (even after hours) and made sure we are scheduled the soonest time possible (perfect, just before school starts). Not only that the scheduling was prompt, but he was also able to explain in full detail the whole process. Assess Hawaii's efficient scheduling/intake process (with the help of Ryan), may seem simple, but done with extra care and lots of warmth, eases the stress and gives a refreshing feel in making doctor's appointment. :)

We proceeded with a PRP injection, which I learned that there was actual homework/prep work for me to do BEFORE the treatment that the hip MD didn't even tell me about! Such things like stopping NSAIDs, drinking, fasting, etc. to help make the PRP injection more successful. I would not have known this if it weren't for Dr. Ferrante. The injection went smoothly and I experienced significant pain relief. I will return to do the other hip now that I know how successful it is. I know PRP injections are expensive, but definitely worth the price (insurance doesn't pay for them thru a MD anyways). She made me feel comfortable (as comfortable as you can- these injections are sore) thru out the procedure, and increased my trust by providing me with a lot of information about what to expect before/during/after, and of course following up. Of note, when I came in for a hip follow up, she noticed I had a wrist brace on, and took initiative to inquire about this new injury and brainstormed a special taping to help offload/support the area (again, something that the orthopedic PA didn't think about) which also provided more stability/less pain for my wrist. She offered another treatment option for it if occupational therapy didn't help.
