I've always passed by the fueling stations when we visit Costco but never stopped until today. Out…read moreof all the local stations which seemed old and run down, I'm apprehensive about visiting some of these places out of concern for what is coming out of the old underground tanks. This was a newer build, plus a trusted brand so we stopped to fuel up while in town visiting. Today we learned why the lines are long. Prices are a bit lower plus the bonus points on the card. However being a first time user, there was a slight learning curve to use the pumps. Using the membership card is required, but this pump wouldn't take the actual card, I had to use the QR code on the app. And there is a precise process to get this to work and be successful. QR code, then payment method in timely fashion. For the uninitiated this can be a challenge knowing there is a long line of cars waiting at the ready, making a nervous experience if not prepared. I got it working after several attempts, a few curse words, and crazy looks. The pumps stack 2 vehicles at a time, luckily even with our delays, we finished at the same exact time as the larger vehicle in front of us. There was an attendant in a yellow vest at the ready to assist when needed. The place is very clean, line moves fast enough.

No Costco Gas stations by me so this was a treat. It's pretty efficient if you follow the set up…read more Of course there are some idiots that stretch the hose to capacity and fill on the opposite side. This of course makes it impossible for people to squeeze thru to get to an open pump. Despite that during non really busy times it goes quick.

My trainer would scream "WE DON'T WORK HERE!!!" (In full uniform) in the old woman's face. It made me feel 2" tall-and because he was the BEST?!? I'm not making waves... Just not the best example of hospitality. When you're training with the best, anything that threatens his boss is met with veracity. They have an open door policy "but it's just a numbers game" for managers trying to beat the curve and other regions. DEI? It's a PR ploy.

During my visit, there was a surprising amount of manpower wasted just directing customers to different lines, instead of actually moving people through checkout. Employees were repeatedly telling shoppers where to go, which line to switch to, or where to stand, yet the lines still moved slowly and felt disorganized. It created more confusion than efficiency. If they turn the front aisle vertical to the cashiers the problems could be eliminated and the workers could be used wiser. Costco is usually a masterclass in logistics, so this was disappointing. With better flow or clearer lane management, the same staff could be helping customers check out faster rather than acting as traffic controllers. Costco is still good value but the checkout experience here takes away from what should be a smooth, high-volume operation.
