This Canadian Tire is the one that's closest to the Calgary Airport. On the last day of a given business trip to Calgary, I usually end up with some extra time and am in no hurry to hang out on the other side of Customs for long periods of time. So I hop in the car and either go to Chapters (near the other side of the airport) or pull up to the Canadian Tire Gas Bar and then stop in the main store and look around. Since I'm heading home, I usually have home projects on my mind, which makes it a dangerous time to come here. I have to remind myself to not pack any flammable liquids, not to buy anything that violates California VOC standards, and to make sure that anything I really need fits into the suitcase, and most importantly, I can explain it to Security if they open things up. read more

I don't know if it's a chain problem but it seems like Canadian Tire is lacking in employees on the floor. It's rare to see someone that can help and when you do they are usually clueless about what you're looking for. Their prices are OK and when they have sales they offer good prices. Their return policy is great though (3 months). I'd say ditch the Canadian Tire money. It's a waste of trees to make a bill that's worth 5 cents. And money that's only usable at their store. I just donate my money before I walk out the door... such a waste of trees. They seriously need to revamp and do something different or else they'll be following the tune of Zellers and Eaton. read more

THREE TERRIBLE and costly experiences: 1. Took my truck here to have for an electrical issue with my trailer wiring harness fixed. They kept it all day and when I went to pick it up they told me what they thought the problem was and that they don't do electrical. I was then handed a bill for 3 hours of shop time. Total waste of time and money! IF YOU DON'T DO ELECTRICAL AND YOU WERE INFORMED IT WAS AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE WHY WOULD YOU EVEN LET IT IN THE SHOP? 2. Took my truck in to get my summer tires switched over. Waited 6 hours, $160 when I was quoted $130 then I got out on the highway and they didn't balance the tires so I had to take it back and wait for 3 hours for them to fix the balancing issue. 3. Took both family vehicles in for another seasonal tire switchover. Bought rims for my wifes car and had them installed. Once again $160 for changes on both vehicles and then my wifes car shook terribly soon as she left the parking lot. Once again waiting for 3 hours for the problem to be fixed. All in all I would recommend that you save your money and your time and go to a shop that will respect your time and money by doing the job right the first time. This store had no stock at all of the product I was looking for, online showed stock and even which Isle to find it in. Behold Crappy tire!!! no stock at all...nothing even in the area. I began trying to find someone to help me and I find an employee hiding in the corner on the phone "Do you have someone to babysit this stupid garden center??? People keep asking me where stuff is, I don't know!" then she proceeded to hide in the corner and text. Needless to say I left angry and won't be back. read more

It's like a drug - the cheap tools (when they're on sale) and excellent location get me every time. I leave empty handed and pissed off every single time but I keep going back with high hopes that I'll have success. It's infuriating. Today was the last straw, I will never EVER go back. This time, I promise. Last week I went to get a car battery and wiper blades. The guy at the desk was fiddling with the computer and ignored me for an exceptionally long time (I know he knew I was there). I finally had to raise my voice to get his attention and even then he wasn`t able to find what i needed (which should have been super easy, it's a Honda Civic - not exactly a rare car) and promptly dismissed me. Today I went to buy a wrench - I needed to get a nut off a threaded piece that`s cemented into a hose. Except...they have all of the wrenches locked up, along with most of their other tools. Try to find someone to help you...ya right. I asked one guy and he said it wasn't his dept. I asked another guy and he said he was too busy. I went up to customer service and asked if there was anyone who could help. The girl sent over the guy who said he was too busy. He sighed and stopped what he was doing and opened the case - then hovered over me impatiently (not helping or even asking if I needed help). I tried about 4-5 of the wrenches but none fit right away so rather than continue with this kid breathing down my neck I went to Rona (Totem) on Edm Tr. The guy there not only helped me find the right tool but wrestled with the damn nut trying to get it off for me!! THAT`S customer service! In fact, that`s above and beyond. Went to Canadian Tire for a leaking tire. I have always gone to Canadian Tire for Tire issues and never had problems with them before. Went there today and was told that they don't do emergency tire repairs anymore that I would have had to make an appointment. How can you plan for emergencies... Horrible. I will never ever go back to a tire place again who does not do emergency tire repairs on their own tires. read more

I wish I could choose zero stars. Always a disappointment. Never have what I need. Today I was asked for my knapsack while my wife was allowed to keep her "exceptionally large" purse. I said, "not unless you can provide me with a signed form of liability for my property". The manager began to engage his chest into my face as if he were a bouncer at a low end strip joint. Then, when I instructed him to back away he pushed me. I just wanted a can of paint but instead got high blood pressure and a bad taste in my mouth. Never....ever....again. read more

Seriously the worst customer service I have ever received. We went to return a star shower Christmas light. It broke within two weeks of getting it. We went to the returns desk and said hello to the lady working there, she ignored us for about 45 seconds while she angrily typed on her computer. Then came over to us and still never said anything but grabbed the box and receipt and just mumbled more to herself than to us that they don't take back Christmas decorations after the 24th. Then told us to find a manger and threw everything back at us. I understand this is store policy and not her fault but there is no reason to treat people so disrespectfully. If you cant even say hello to a customer then you should not be working in a customer service job. Weather you like it or not lady part of your job is to be a pleasant human being no matter how your day is going, you don't get to treat people like garbage because you had a bad day. Aside from her terrible attitude the return policy is ridiculous. I purchased a product from you that is defective and you are not willing to do anything for me. no exchange because they are sold out, no store credit, no refund. The only option I was given was to get a similar product that cost $30 more and pay the difference. read more

If there is a zero rating that I can choose, I will choose zero rating. The staff and the manager are both rude in this location. We bought 4 tire whims at this location at $300.00 and a wheel lock at $9.99. The staff told us that the wheel lock should fit into the whims and if not, we can return it. Of course, it does not fit. When I brought the wheel lock back to the store, the staff looked at the wheel lock and just simply said the package was open, so it could not be returned and refunded. I was thinking if we did not open the package, how could we know it does not fit. So I tried to talk to the manager, the manager just took a glance on the package and simply that we could not sell it again if the box has been opened, so there was no return and refund, then walked away immediately. I tried to talk to the customer service again, but they just did not listen and said their return policy is "an unopened item with a receipt not over 90 days". I was very unhappy with this location, and I won't be back again for this Canadian Tire location. read more
