First time at this large grocery store / home goods. GPS in the car took me here when I told it I wanted a Wal Mart. Same concept. Wanted to buy souvenirs, but told by staff they don't sell any. At self-checkout, a package of pens gave an error message and asked for the cashier. She checked it and said there wasn't a price on it then asked me how much it cost. Told her I didn't recall so she told me I couldn't buy it then instead of doing a price check. Locked up carts without instructions on how to get one separated for use. read more

The food quality in this store has gone way way down in the past year and a half. Fruit and veggies that look like they have been previously frozen in shipping/storage and/or half rotten from being stored too long and yes this is your fault even if frozen in shipping or storage, don't accept it and buy and supply fresher produce! Steaks and stew meat so riddled with tough gristle and fat that it's not worth paying the small fortune to buy it and chicken breasts at a premium price that are discolored and smell sour upon purchase even 3 days prior to the best before date on the package - get better suppliers! Bakery items previously frozen that are only best before for same day or a day or two maximum if lucky, being put out stocking them too late and close to the best before dates? Upper management for this store should be embarrassed and ashamed and as it is all three departments with issues I can only assume the department managers are being told what to do by the store manager and that these types of food practices are okay. It is obvious that the meat is a poor grade and all three department products are being frozen during shipping or storage and stored way too long before being put out for purchase. This is one of my favorite superstore locations in Calgary. They always have fully stocked shelves and plenty of employees willing to help. The produce and Bakery is always fresh and parking is plenty. Overall, highly recommend and will definitely return. read more

Let's run through the checklist of things I hate about this place before yelp removes it.. 1) Read your expiry dates. This place will sell you old food. Check for mold too, I've seen that. Depending who is at returns some of them will be snobby, some won't care. Typically they'll just ignore you and talk to their coworkers until you've passed the initiation phase and deserve their attention. 2) Get ready to suck in your gut down every aisle just do you have room to move. This particular superstore is constantly packed with ignorant, stunned people. They'll stand directly in your way and have absolutely no concept of common courtesy. They'll bring their kids and won't pay attention while they're throwing shit around or getting in everyone's way. 3) The produce sucks. It goes rotten quicker than Walmart or Costco. And there are way too many pieces of bad fruit or veggies. There are way too many people handling the fruit roughly and throwing it back. Again, stupid people. No one cares. Why would they? It's clearly all about them. 4) You can count on one hand how many employees aren't zombies walking around in a trance. Have fun getting help. They can barely help themselves. Not all are bad, some of the cashiers are very nice and speak to you like a human being. That's appreciated. 5) STOP SELLING ME A FUCKING CREDIT CARD I DO NOT NEED OR WANT. I'm here to give you money already when I should've just went to a Costco or Walmart far away from the NE. Just take it. Stop approaching me mid-aisle and badgering me two or three times. One young girl began arguing with me that it was a good deal and I should want it until I had to tell her to get the fuck out of my face. 6) This is the dirtiest superstore I've been to. Worse than the one beside Sunridge. Good example: some hyper little kid spiked a bag of flour on the ground on the opposite end of the aisle from me. As I passed by later when I was finished...still there. Employees just walked around it. 7) Stop letting people bring their full sized fucking cart into the self checkout and scanning 200 bucks worth of groceries. Slowly. So...fucking....slowly. I could go on and on. Seriously, avoid this place if you have a choice. Take a nice leisurely drive out of the northeast and go somewhere better. read more

My expectations are always so low when I go into Superstore and this visit was no exception. Here is a quick summation of what to expect. Me in aisle 5 (baking) scanning the shelves for vegetable shortening. *Sigh* none to be found. *idea* runs to aisle 4 (oils) still nothing. *Sees a worker, first one in 20 mins* Runs to her... Me: Hi there, do you know what aisle has vegetable shortening? Worker: Aisle 5 Me: Checked, wasn't there. Worker: Aisle 4 Me: I checked there too. Worker: *embarrassed* oh, sorry, I don't know what vegetable shortening is. *Scurries away* Me: *shocked emoji-face* If you like reading the small print on documents, this is the place for you! Under closer speculation, about 80% of the price tags have "when you buy in groups of 2" or other some other catch. Why didn't anyone write a review yet for this ? Were you all waiting for me :P . I see a lot crowd visiting this canadian store including me. Anyway glad to be the first to review it. It is at a very convenient location which is near by to calgary transit and has ample of parking space. I visit this place very often for my groceries. They have different sections and one for asian too. So I could get many of the necessary goods(indian groceries) which are not available at other places for such a low price. Even they have pretty many options in rice. Always the prices are much lower when compared to anyother store either in downtown or surrounding area. Vegetables are fresh except on few days.( usually they refill during fridays). They have lot of varities in snacks,bread,cakes,seafood,chicken. We get here chinese okra, bottle gaurd, Indian karela, Eggplant, Indian okra and many other distinct varieties in all sections which makes it unique from other stores. Never to worry about the price as it is always the best price on any good. Some suggestions: 1. Rice- Nessa brand is good and cheaper to. Comes to $9 for 5Kg which has a good quality than other brands. Go on weekdays if you want to get one. This is a very fast moving one. 2. You get coconut water here in cans. 3. Carry your own bags as they charge you for the bags they give you to carry the purchased goods. Sorry for throwing light mostly on Asian goods because I got to try only those. This is the closest store to Marriot Couryard and Riadissan. It is great that it opens late until 11 pm. I would say they are similar to a Walmart. For a traveler if you forgot any necessities from home, this is a good place to go and not that far from these 2 hotels in Calgary nor the airport. It is super convenient as there are no other grocery stores near the hotels. read more

i went to this particular superstore because it was the closest grocery store to my house. this was my first time shopping there and i only got a few item like milk, bread,oatmeal etc. I myself love oatmeal so i was eating the oatmeal for a couple days after my trip there and i looked at the date and realized it was 2 YEARS OUT OF DATE!!! i was eating oatmeal that expired back in 2014.Did i mention it also gave me the worst stomach cramps I have ever experienced My first thought was how could this have gone unnoticed for 2 entire years, especially at a grocery store. My advice to anyone that lives in that neighborhood is to shop somewhere else because you never know how old your food really is. Make sure you closely check the dates on all the food you purchase. I did my shopping at Superstore Westwinds this morning, I go early as to avoid crowds and get my grocery shopping done fast. As usual no cashiers open only self serve. Please wait for an attendant was the better part of my shopping experience. At long last everything was finally rung in and it was time to pay Please wait for an attendant is what I got. I waited while they took care of other customers even though I was waiting longer. I waited most of my morning so much so I came home with no groceries at all . I understand that things can go wrong but this is a constant here . If you have plenty of time on your hands do shop here. I will be doing my shopping elsewhere from now on. read more
