I LOVE this Costco! It has everything California doesn't have! The food court here has poutine fries and hot dog + soda combo is only $1.50 Canadian which is only $1.11 USD! Just when you thought it's a deal just got better! I got an order of the poutine fries by default of course! Coming to Canada and having poutine fries is like going to In-n-out when going to California. You gotta do it! An order of poutine fries was $5.99 and boy it was a big portion and really hits the spot! It has heaps of cheese and gravy, I'm literally drooling on my phone as I type my review! I also love that they have chicken strips and fries on the menu too... The service here could be better. It's such a high volume that they just call your number, give you your food, and next! I've been coming to this Beacon Hill location since it opened, and I think it's time to drive further for a different one. The customers at this location are the rudest you will ever experience!! They will steal your parking spot even if you were there first, they butt in line, and they smack into your cart with theirs when they're rushing through! The pharmacy cashiers are all lovely and friendly, they are the reason I didn't give 1 star! read more

Loosing points as the business is too busy to handle the hoards that come out. Immigration Canada must have let the word out that you don't need to speak English or French. Very difficult to get lined up at the tills with incompetent traffic control saying you to non existent cattle lines. People can sort out which line by gushing for themselves. Soon they will Ave ushers to help you get your charge card out of your pocket. Siren goes off each time the safe room door opens to alert all managers of civil unrest. I like Costco but this one at Sarcee (Beacon Hill) is getting too busy. Guess I will travel further to fin a less polluted location. read more

Each Costco that I visit has its only regional flavor, and this Alberta outpost is no exception. Best of all, was the opportunity to people watch. This is in regards to the floral department at the North Calgary Costco - be aware of what you are buying! I have had pretty good luck in the past buying roses in the 2 dozen sets quite often at this location. I am not sure if someone now working in that dept is careless or is sabotaging the customers but after I bought my roses, I brought them straight home and took them out of the package. Immediately, half the heads of the roses fell off rendering them useless! They had been clipped obviously with shearers but looked just fine when wrapped up tightly as a bunch. I called into the customer service at the store about a replacement bouquet and had to speak to 2 people. It was a waste of time - the situation was not handled well and I will think twice about buying flowers from here in the future. read more

The review is for the cafeteria. Absolutely horrendous service and food. They gave us the ice cream cups for our drinks which is half the size... we asked for drink lids so it wouldn't spill in the car. They ran out of lids. I asked for ketchup, relish and mustard for 5 hot dogs they gave me 3 ketchup 2 mustards and 0 relish. Just horrible and disappointing that they are not up to the same standards as other Costco locations. I've never experienced this at any other location except this one. Disappointing. read more

I freakin love Costco! I really, really do. Every time I need something in mass quantities, Costco is definitely my first choice. And this new location is sooo convenient to all us North-Calgarians. When I run low on margarine, meat, boxed juice, laundry detergent, anything large, I refuse to buy it at Safeway or somewhere like that. I need to go to Costco for all my wholesale needs. I went shopping during the Covid global pandemic. I bought a lot of stuff to stock up. The cashier made a mistake on entering cash onto the bill which I didn't give her. Then I paid the rest by credit card. I was rushed out of the checkout by the cashier as well as the second security checker. They didn't even check that my bill balanced. Now the Loss prevention manager is trying to make me pay the money that they didn't receive because of their cashiers and second level securities mistake and have frozen my Costco membership. My review today is for the service that I received at the phone kiosk in Costco. My amazing salesperson was Andrew who even suggested that I call the Bell loyalty dept. and ask for a better monthly rate. Who knew a phone call could save me $180/year! That's no joke! I settled on an iPhone 6s Plus. It's really nice! Although it took a little while to set everything up because of a slow internet connection (could have been because it was equality day) it all got taken care off and in the end I was smiling because I was a happy, satisfied customer! It's always busy in Costco, no matter what time of year it is. Parking is a zoo unless you go there right when the store opens or during suppertime. Our family has bought everything from vacuum sealers, utility shelving, office supplies, and clothing. We've also tried their framing services--the staff are pleasant and informative and offer reasonable prices. There are often great deals on fresh meats(ground beef/pork, ribs, frying chickens(three in a bag)) and fish. The cheese and deli meat selection is excellent; and the quality of the produce and fruit have been consistent (I cringe when other stores try to sell moldy strawberries and hope that you don't notice). The cafeteria is okay for the hot dogs/Polish sausages and choice of soft drink for $1.50. However, I don't recommend the fries (which are a bit soggy) or the fried chicken wings(they were still quite fatty underneath the skin; the cooks didn't bother to render out the fat). Overall, this location is pretty good--just be prepared to navigate through a sea of bustling shoppers... read more

I have a love hate relationship with Costco, mostly love. But I always regret coming to this location because no matter the day or time, it's ALWAYS busy and people are always in a rush. Here's a Tip: don't go to Costco if you're in a rush, because you're just going to get annoyed and irritated at how everyone else is so slow. Overall, they had good stock and shelves are nicely organized. Isles are more crowded so you have to move around people continuously. The staff are really helpful and super nice. Less to be said about the staff at the cafeteria which could care less you exist. They are so rude and basically will say nothing to you... They treat you like an inconvenience and hate their jobs. You can ask a question and no one replies, they just move to the next person and you are left standing there wondering if someone will serve you or not. So weird. I would rate Costco-Sarcee Trail 0 if there was a zero star. Bagging staff was extremely rude, defensive and combative. I was at the checkout with a bag of Bounty paper towels, and she asked if the "buggy" was mine, to which I replied yes. She proceeded to put the Bounty paper towels into the "buggy" which belonged to the gentleman behind me. The man said the cart was his, and the bagging lady took the Bounty out and said in an angry tone, "That's what I said if the "buggy" was yours." I said it was mine. She proceeded to put the Bounty back into the cart. I said it was mine and so forth. She continued to talk in an angry tone making it sound like I was an imbecile in front of other customers in the lineup. When she said the word "buggy", what I heard was "Bounty". In a marketplace with multiple lineups and people talking left and right, in front and behind, it is hard to make out and differentiate words that sound alike. Besides, why would this staff call the cart "buggy". A buggy is not a cart. Far from it. I came from British Columbia, and I never heard Costco staff referring to the cart as "buggy". This staff was impatient, quite rude and sounded condescending! I wonder how many customers, never mind people of colour, had been treated the way she treated me. read more

I started shopping at Costco in 1988 when the first location opened in the SE. When the NE location opened, I did most of my shopping at that one. I live in the NW, so have been thrilled that the Sarcee location opened. The service at this location is by far the best. I've actually commented to service desk on multiple occassions how impressed I was with the efficiency of processing lines of people. If you haven't shopped at Costco before - come with a list or be prepared to walk out with a cart full. You have to know your prices, but most things are priced well. Limited choice, but if it's in stock - it's probably a good deal, or great value for the quality. Meats - you may find cheaper cuts elsewhere, but for the quality they provide, the value is excellant. Bakery is awesome. Slab cakes always in stock, order 1 day ahead if you want something special. Everything is always fresh! Apple Pie - it will look delious & will taste the same! Produce is always a great value. Fruits & veggies are fresh & tastely. Need pet supplies, cushions, treats - limited variety - but what they have is great. Can not address everything - books, movies, office supplies, wedding gifts, eye glasses, home reno items.... the list is endless. Clothes tend to be a great buy and usually lots of stock. Holiday items are tremondous value... Christmas comes to Costco in August, and many popular items are gone by end of Nov. Cards, wrapping paper, toys, decorations.... again the options are endless. I love the prices, delicious samples (so you're not stuck with gross food you weren't sure about) and the hot dogs and/or pizza waiting for you at the end of your Costco marathon. I hate that you can never find parking, the hoards of people on weekends (no there's never a "good time" to go on the weekend) and that they don't consistently carry products (what do you mean that awesome dip from last week isn't sold here anymore?!). The best time to come to this location is on a weekday, usually around dinner because it's empty (the parking lot is still full though, WHY?!) or you could just take the ring road to the location near Cross Iron Mills because that one is rarely busy - even on weekends. Costco...good for Americans and families. Or you just want to stock pile in case of an apocalypse. I generally come to this location as they have the liquor store, but have been informed the one on Heritage does too now, so may start going there. This one is always busy!!! My husband and I have literally tried coming all times of the day and it still sucks. If you go during the day, you get "mommies" who are with the girlfriends, a stroller and huge shopping cart, taking their sweet ass time. If you go in the evening, every one and their dog is there and don't even think about weekends unless you have absolutely nothing else to do. Dinner time like 5pm is the only half sane time to attempt this. Great selection and great prices. We buy most of our meat here and store it in the deep freeze, as well some gluten free products they now carry. Do not go here hungry or you'll buy have the store. read more

You can always find a great deal on an item or find things you don't really need. It's impossible to come to Costco for one thing or even a few things... I challenge you. Lots of pros... It's Costco after all and they carry everything. The cons to this location is they really need an express lane for people who are buying under 10 things. I finally stepped foot in this Costco location for the first time today and what a treat! It was early afternoon and everything in the universe must have been in sync. I didn't have to park a mile away, there was no waiting at the membership service desk and they spat out a new card in no time. Shopping was quick and painless, with virtually no issues finding anything. There were lots of food samplers out to make the journey more enjoyable AND the time from entering the line to pay for the groceries to walking out the door with the cart was probably under 15 min., assisted by a high energy, friendly cashier no less. I wouldn't be crazy enough to think that an evening or weekend could be as wonderful an experience, but workday hours rock. read more

As part of my transition into adulthood I decided to get a Costco card. The $55 upfront fee, and the knowledge that I could only pay with cash or debit (as I don't have, need or want an AmEx) were kind of off-putting... but I went for it anyways. First Important Point: If you are paying (yourself) for prescription medications anywhere but Costco, you're crazy. Their prices just can't be beat. I went in today for an over-the-counter medication which was $37 at Shoppers Drug Mart and London Drugs... Costco sold it for $18. Even if I only took it twice a year that would almost cover the entire membership fee. Oh, and the other great thing about the Costco pharmacy is that while you wait for your prescription you can score some free samples of everything from yogurt to coffee to quesadillas! Second Important Point: Even for a single person, you can make back the $55 fee in savings just through regular household items. I buy an ANNUAL pack of toilet paper and paper towel, in addition to more-or-less-annual packs of garbage bags, laundry detergent and dish soap. The savings on these items is huge. Third Important Point: Shop smart and you won't end up with waste. I buy the pre-cut fruit trays (unit price is less than half of similar products at Safeway), eat what I can and freeze the rest for smoothies. Heads of cauliflower are ridiculously cheap too. If I'm making ratatouille Costco is my first stop for eggplants, bell peppers and tomatoes. Silver Hills whole-grain bread comes home and goes straight into the freezer (it toasts like a dream). Protein bars are less than half what my local health food store charges. I only buy things that will last a long time, get eaten in full right away, or can be portioned and frozen. Fourth Important Point: Preserve your sanity and go after work. Unless you're a masochist, don't even think about going on Saturday or Sunday. Campari vine tomatoes, my reason for coming in weekly even though you are crazy ass expensive, I can't live without you, or your cousin, little cucumbers in a bag. Fix these problems and I will be yours forever and ever...for ever, ever? 1. MAKE AN EXPRESS LANE FOR THE LOVE OF CHRIST. Sometimes I am literally there for one thing and I end up waiting over 15 minutes to check out. 2. Remove crusty rude sample-givers, one yelled at my son for taking a sample when she thought I wasn't with him, but I could see him and I was trying to stay out of the stampede for the free yogurt sample. I complained about her to the acting manager and she is still there. So now I just avoid her altogether and just give her the nasty eye. 3. Create a change room or two...I was so lucky to find a woman put up her own makeshift change room using twin beds and proceed to try on a bathing suit, seeing much more of her than I ever hoped to see...ewwweeeeee!!! You can imagine the looks this crazy ass received; I guess she wasn't aware of their return policy or on the other hand I would be concerned if they allowed returns on items that have come in direct contact with a crotch, meh. This is pretty much like every other Costco out there - crazy busy at times, and full of goodies. This one also has a gas bar and a liquor store - and the parking lot can be nuts. Its connected to the rest of the Beacon Heights Shopping Centre - which is a tangled mess of roads and speed bumps - but there is additional parking - which is helpful. Inside there are the usual free samples - I am always amazed how people hang out for stuff to finish cooking in the tiny toaster ovens, so they can have a free pizza pocket square or hummus on a cracker. Its like people have been starved for food. This Costco like all the rest offers some good deals though and if you can handle the crowds, check it out. read more

Show up earlier than Saturday afternoon. That is the fact. We showed up on Saturday afternoon mostly because we're lazy and slept in but did need to get some groceries. Here's the thing about Costco... I like the prices and the meat department. I hate the line-ups. There are always line-ups at this Costco. The next closest one is probably 30 minutes away and would be just as busy. The other think i don't like is the fact that they squeeze the check-outs so close together. You literally are butt to butt with the customer at the next check-out. You have to stagger yourself with them so you are not touching. I hate it and I'm not claustrophobic. This Sarcee Trail Costco location is just like any other Costco..same great bulk deals etc etc, BUT! They've got the gas bar, woohoo cheap gas! As Christmas is fast approaching, this Costco can get PRETTYCROWDED on the weekends. They've got a huge parking lot, but tis the season...parking spots can be hard to find! I find that one of the easiest ways for me to get my bearings on a new place is to go to Costco. One can very well survive shopping only at Costco. Do I need pants? Batteries? Bread? Bananas? Gas? These are things I buy regularly at my home Costco, and I will likely need to buy at the new place too. And though the prices here are generally higher than back home (this is Canada, after all) the quality, sizes, and brands are roughly comparable. Honestly, I'm so over the bad vibes at Beacon Hill Costco. Today I got yelled at in front of everyone at the checkout by Dano. It's totally fine to enforce a policy but you can do so without yelling at a person. He yelled at my 60+ year old father and yelled at me in front of a slew of people. We did not raise our voices or treat him disrespectfully but he flew off the handle. I have no interest in being spoken to so disrespectfully. Our bill was $530 dollars and they threw in a free verbal assault. Thanks Dano for an absolutely dreadful experience. You my friend should consider a different line of employment or perhaps anger management classes. You were so out of line and I've never been spoken to like that before nor have I had the audacity and just plain lack of regard for human decency to speak to someone like that. I have so much more I'd like to say about this horrible employee but I'll leave it at that. I hope noone else has an experience like I had today, however I doubt that this type of behaviour is uncommon for this employee. Costco has great products at great prices. Some of my favorite deals are the Ghiradelli brownie mix, coffee beans, yoga workout gear and Liberte 0% Greek yogurt. The only downsides are that you will often get addicted to a product and then they stop carrying it. Totally annoying. This location is less busy than many in the city but still very busy. This is a "club" so you have to have a membership to shop here. I think it's definitely worth the money. This Costco also has a gas bar and a liquour store. read more

Huge roast to the Cafeteria first off. I have to pay $120 for a executive member ship- then weekly I am in there shopping for groceries for my family spending THOUSANDS YEARLY! This evening I decided to get dinner for my young kids since it was getting late I simply asked for a plate to cover the pizza for my kids so nothing would drop on it. I even offered to pay for the plate! I was told that according to the manager this wasn't allowed! Then I got a ice cream for my youngest she wanted a cone but again I just asked for a cup to put it in for whatever she doesn't eat so it won't spill in my car again the response was " my manager said no". So I went to your customer service and was a Karen and expressed my concern. Customer service advised me that both of my claims are valid and several people have complained. COSTCO BEACON HILL DO BETTER! If it's really going to bring down your revenue then put options on the order screen that will allow for a extra plate and or a cone in a cup if that is what the customer wants! Love having a Costco near us in the NW now. Friendly typical busy Costco. .found the pharmacy to be good and busy also. Store is clean. . Well stocked for almost all things.. great demos .. good fresh produce deli section. Pumpkin pies cannot be beat and I make a good one but why bother when you get an extra large one for 5.99 who can beat that? And it tastes homemade not sickly sweet and right amount of spices..only downfall not available year round. . I'm sure it would sell great if it did! Cakes are delicious. .we used the carrot one for our wedding. .not first wedding but better cake and better. Hubby lol love the gas bar too really reasonable prices especially when there's a gas hike all over the city. . Glad we renewed our membership! Tire Service Centre was great. Researched and bought my specific tire on line. Made an appointment to have the tires installed. 45 minutes later, they called and said it was completed. They bring your vehicle around to the front door and hand you the keys. Drum roll time, tested it for vibration and smoothness, yikes!!!!! It was ball bearing smooth ride at 90, 100, 110, 120, 130, 140kph which is plenty fast enough for me. I was ecstatic about the results. I have dealt with all the k tire out fits and was always disappointed. I dealt with Red Deer Costco for tires with very good results too. Nice to see a business do a good job. Thank you. . read more
