My son and I went in as he was building a computer for his brother. There was one gentleman that was helpful. My son had everthing figured out what he would need to do this. We spent a lot of money. We went to the back as I was going to buy my son some extra stuff as a surprise. We were meant by a worker who asked if we were almost done. We felt ok we are being rushed out. The kingston store is trash drove and hr to get cables and a 3d printer, only for half the store to be closed due to staff on breaks. Will not be back this is the 2nd time it has happened When asked for assistance, the gentlemen I use the term loosely.was extremely rude. And refused help. The guy that is usually behind the cash is your classic computer nerd and makes even shopping for simple and mundane things a little bit of fun when you go to check out. The prices are fair for most things, but small things like cords and converters are usually found for better prices online. Overall, this store is a decent place to stop if you want something quick, or you just want to go and get a feel for something like a new mouse or keyboard. I used to shop here in person years ago, but I'm a little too far away to make it in these days. It's ok though, because I've managed to work out a special deal with them where they will ship me almost anything I want for a nominal shipping charge of $7. They have a wide selection of tech at competitive prices, and some of the stuff they have is just far cheaper then you could hope to get it here in Halifax. read more

Terrible repairs. My charger port had been knocked out of place and they charged me $100 and 2 weeks without a computer to hot glue it back into place. When it inevitably broke again they offered the same service. Went to Best Buy instead! read more

There products seemed fine and well priced but this store needs to learn a lot about customer service. After 20 minutes of trying to get one of the several sales people attention I gave up and came home and ordered the two products I needed on line. Yes it will take two days to get them but I might still be in the store waiting for service at that point. read more

15 years ago, Canada Computers may have had the best game in town. They don't anymore. Prices are still very competitive, but I've routinely found better prices at NCIX. NCIX gets stuff to me super fast & also ships for free, Canada Computers doesn't. Of course this alone isn't enough to make a point of signing up for review websites to give poor reviews, but bold faced lying to customers, definitely is! Recently, I searched for a new phone to replace my 4 year old dying one & settled on the ASUS Zenfone 2 Laser. Anyway, before going into Canada Computers in Kingston to buy it, I naturally searched online & of course, NCIX had a sale & it was $10 cheaper & of course, with free shipping. I thought I'd go into Canada Computers & ask if they do price matching since I was already nearby & I've been a customer there for 10-15 years. The sales guy "William H." gives me a tentative "yeah" & I tell him what I'm after & who's got a better price than them. He heads to his computer & proceeds to take 3-5 minutes to do what should be less than a 15 second search "zenfone 2 laser NCIX". Took me about 3 seconds to type that in right here. So what he was doing seems to be looking for any reason to get out of the lie he just told me about price matching, by telling me another lie about model numbers not matching since as stupid as it is, that's the best he could come up with after wasting all that time. I looked around at the screen, & "said they appear to be the same phone to me". He agreed, aside from the supposedly different model numbers, "they appear to be the same". He made no effort to go get one of theirs & point out the differing numbers in question that he somehow has memorized. So I figured "w/e, I'm here, I'll get it & if I decide to go with the better business I'll just return the Canada Computers one". So here's where it really gets awesome, not only did I (of course) quickly & easily check the model numbers as soon as I got home which were EXACTLY THE SAME (ZE551KL-15-3G16GN-SR) but I also went & checked the Canada Computers ridiculous return policy. For some reason a brand new in package completely unopened phone will cost a customer 10% to return. So that's $28. Who else has such bogus fees? I've never known a store to charge something like that on unopened electronics before. There may be others, but this is the first time I've ever heard of it. Obviously I'd never returned any unopened products to Canada Computers before. :s If they don't do price matching, they should be honest about it. There's a not insignificant chance that I would've actually bought their phone anyway & a guarantee that I wouldn't be completely boycotting an entire store due to the actions of one employee or writing online reviews like this. I know Yelp can be a place where whiners come to whine, but for a store that lies like this I think it's justified & worth the effort. Even if they just don't match online. Tell the damn truth w/e it is! You're better off in the end. Yeah I could go back, take a printout of the NCIX ad (which is still the same price as I write this) & shove it in their face, with a "WTF?" & try to get the price matched risking that they still wouldn't do it. It's only $10. That's why I would've been likely to buy it anyway even if they said they don't match, because IT'S ONLY $10. $10 isn't the problem, bold faced lying to customers is the problem & it's not worth $10 to me to go back in there to try to right their wrong, but it is worth $10 to warn others. Congratulations Willy, you won $10 & lost ALL MY FUTURE BUSINESS. Canada Computers is no longer the first place I look for computer products. It is no longer a place I look at all. 15 years ago I probably wouldn't be saying that, but nowadays, there's just way too much competition out there making it way too easy to find something much better than what these guys are doing. A Google search of "Canada Computers reviews" produces some very unfavorable results. A computer shop (of all places) should know the power of the internet by now. Worst service ever received. Brought my computer to get a diagnostic because the fan was noisy and now the computer was returned is in an unusable state. Wait time was 2 weeks. Computer was in fine working state besides the fan being loud, when returned after diagnostic was ran, the computer is unusable. Returned to the store to speak to the manager and he was unfriendly and unhelpful didn't even give us the money back for the diagnostic. Tried to make us believe that the hard-drive failed because it was bound to happen, suspicious that it failed in "competent" canada computer employees hands. read more
