One of the best escape rooms I've been too! We did the abandoned factory and came super close to completing! Our puzzle master said if we had 5 more minutes we would've escaped the room. This was one of the more difficult rooms and definitely the most challenging. The lady organizing the teams was super excited and friendly she added on to our great experience! Came here with a group of four and did the Abandoned Factory escape room. Right from the start, things felt a little off. The employee who checked us in didn't give us the backstory at all, which was strange because I've done plenty of escape rooms and the story is always part of the experience. I only knew a bit of it from reading online beforehand. We were also told one of the mechanisms wasn't working, but the explanation was so vague that we didn't really know what to expect. Once inside, the room was very dim. It would've been nice to be given a flashlight, but we ended up having to use our phone flashlights just to see anything. A lot of the props and clues were worn down or dirty, making the letters and numbers hard to read. There was one puzzle that required unlocking something, but the lock already had a key sitting in it. When we moved the item, the key fell out without us realizing, so the lock stayed "locked," and we wasted a lot of time trying to solve something that should've already been open. To make it worse, the broken mechanism they mentioned ended up being something we kept trying to solve because it wasn't clearly explained beforehand. Overall, there were multiple things we were not properly informed about, and several faulty mechanisms that should've been addressed before we entered. This all affected our ability to escape. And on top of that, whenever we asked for a clue, it took them a long time to respond. It honestly didn't feel like they were paying attention or monitoring the room closely. Tried the subway escape room. We were having a good time until we got to the part where you have to get up and sit on the seats finding the right pattern for the next step to open. We were doing the right pattern for 30 minutes sitting up and down and up and down for a person with bad knees this was extremely difficult. The seat step was not working and we wasted so much time on this. We ended up not having enough time to finish the game. The game master admitted we had the right pattern it just didn't move onto the next step. No apology, no extra time given. I would not recommend this place. read more

Absolute DUMP. A complete waste of $150+ for 4 people. The four of us escaped the 4/5 difficulty Abandoned Factory in 33 minutes. Therefore, the place is grasping for straws to survive against the competition - Just Escape, Puzzle Break... Owners -- LET IT GO. I don't even think a complete facelift would help. I've been here 3x and the only half decent room was Prison Break. A blessing in disguise -- we actually had 2 rooms booked back-to-back here, but they called the day before and cancelled Bomb Threat due to construction. THANK YOU. I was upset at first, but after doing the Abandoned Factory, I am forever grateful... If you decide to do this room, bring flashlights. You can't see a thing, including letters/numbers on combination locks, crucial color coding needed, signs, etc. Last tip - BRING HAND SANITIZER. Woof. Can you escape is an ok escape room. The theming is good if sparse in some places. The timing is appropriate as well. When we went one of the puzzles didn't work and the game master even needed to call the boss. Some of the labeling is old and worn which, while in theme for an "abandoned factory", makes it hard to read. There are also some misleading labeling like an arrow on a gear crank handle that is apparently not supposed to indicate turning direction. There is a puzzle that is solely color based (no accompanying shapes), so beware if you are color blind. If you go to a lot of escape rooms you will probably not encounter any new mechanics. read more

I recently took my wife and son to this facility, where we undertook the abandoned factory mystery. I have done a few escape rooms and besides that, not to toot my own horn, but we are extremely clever and intelligent. The biggest gripe I have is that none of the clues intuitively indicated any connection to the next puzzle. Getting numbers nearly always meant a padlock, but aside from that, nearly all the puzzles were mere happenstance. You took the information garnered from one clue and had no idea what to do with that information. It was completely arbitrarily related to something else in the place, with no intuitive connection. In addition to this, there was a major set of clues that all seemed to connect to a gadget of sorts - this was the only clue really that actually seemed to fit, and after spending a lot of time applying the information to the gadget (I don't want to spoil with specifics), we were later told by the agent that this puzzle was a complete distraction, only there to make us waste time on it. I kid you not. In the end, we were unable to complete the challenge in time. We got about 75% done, and that was with the agent sending clues every time to the video screen. Every time we received a clue we all could not believe why there was a connection between the two, and in truth there was no connection; just arbitrarily applied information. I've been to far better escape rooms, and I would strongly recommend steering clear of this one. The challenges were not designed by someone who understands how to assemble a complex set of riddles and challenges to mesh within a story. Amateurs. read more

An absolute VITAL clue in our room (the bomb threat room) was turned the wrong way. We spent 15+ minutes on that specific clue, only for the staff member to say it was placed wrong when we lost. We came here with a group and had a fun time! They have a lot of different escape rooms here, so you can come back whenever you're done with the first day. It's $30 per escape room, but definitely worth the hour of fun! They have a great number of themes that are amazing! We ended up doing the factory escape and once upon a time. I do have to say that the props don't always work well. It can be frustrating when you're wasting valuable puzzle time trying to get the props to work. Hints were not useful at all during this trip. While we had a fun time, it is something I'm not sure everyone would enjoy. If you like escape rooms, I would definitely give this place a try. It's great for a group of friends or date night! If you're not a puzzle person, this could easily get frustrating. All in all, I personally would come back and try a few of the other spots. Maybe the Prison break?!? read more

I called and took a group of 5 kids (around the age of 10) as a fun activity to celebrate their last day of school. Although I was surprised by the cost, I was so happy with the service. We completed the Interrogation Room with a group of 12. I noticed that a lot of people couldn't find parking because the front lot is small, but we actually parked behind the Chase bank next door. Not sure if that's "allowed" but it was dark and we didn't see any signs telling us not to park there. There were brain teaser type of puzzles in the waiting area, which I thought was good for getting in the mood for puzzle solving. The whole place is a lot smaller than I thought it would be. The staff was friendly and helpful even though it was clearly a busy night. The room itself was very small and the premise was quite flimsy. It was not well-lit, which made it difficult to scour through the clues given. Some parts of the room were very challenging but some of it was easy enough that we can guess some of the places/ways to solve the puzzles without going through the proper steps to get that clue. The two extra clues we requested during the game didn't help much at all. The sound system was broken so we had trouble communicating. But overall, it was a lot of fun little puzzles to go through. The only suggestion I might make is that flashlight and bigger notepad for writing the clues might be helpful, especially for big groups. The price point was nice, not sure if we had coupons or deals because I did not make the reservation. I brought my family and a few friends here for my birthday. We did the apartment room. When we wakes in we were greeted with a warm hello, the staff was absolutely wonderful and very informative. It is a nice cozy atmosphere and you only Wait a few min and then you're brought right into the room. Our room host was Alyssa. She was fantastic and had a very nice personality, the room was so cool itself with AWESOME hidden secrets and clues. It was definitely one of the top rooms I've done in awhile. We are a family of 6 that was traveling for the weekend. We paid $210 for us to do the Abandoned Factory Room. To say we are extremely disappointed would be an understatement. One of the clues we solved but the door didn't open so an employee came abt 5-7 mins later and opened it. We got almost to the end of the mission only for there to be yet another issue with the props. The tubes has letters for the last lock code that had been worn off. Instead of a R it appeared as a P, and the O was half worn off and appeared to be an J. Without those letter we couldn't move forward. When we told them this there was no apology or effort to maybe give us another room or give us the opportunity to finish this one. My kids were more than Disappointed. Would have been a great experience if the stuff actually worked and was prepared correctly. Wouldn't suggest this place to anyone read more

My girlfriend and I did the Z51 room. We've done at least 20 escape rooms previously and this is the only one we've ever walked out of. The room consisted of multiple puzzles involving Morse code which we've never seen before and found too confusing and frankly unfun. The game masters were also inattentive and we had to walk out to get a hint, which basically told us to continue doing what we were doing. After expressing frustration and still not getting any help we left. It's a shame because this place has incredible reviews although to be fair I don't see this particular room mentioned in any of them. Update: I've come back 4 times since my first initial review. Anthony has been our guy to help us out every time I've been there the last few times. He's always helpful and I'm still 100% successful at this place! The prison break was the most fun! We came here last night and had a blast! Last minute me and two of my girlfriends decided to check this place out. We did the apartment, and no one else booked it so we had the event to ourselves (which we preferred!) we completed the room with 10 minutes to spare! It was such an adrenaline rush. Our hints were helpful, Jonathan was the one working with us and he was awesome! Afterwards he spoke to us a little bit about coming back and trying the other rooms (which we 100% wanna try them all) and he took photos for us with cute little signs. Went with my friends one night and did the Apartment room. The good thing about this place is that if you decide to do it spontaneously, you will have a lot of options to choose from. However if you do it on the website, you can't book a room less than an hour in advance. But if you call them (like we did since it disappeared while we were booking) they'll take you and you can pay at the door. I've been to several different "escape the rooms" and this one wasn't my favorite. It was alright. I honestly expected there to be more to it since it had a 34ish% escape rate. It was fun and thrilling at points but I thought there could've been more to it at the end when you find the red key to escape. Like maybe try to get the key out from the attached object? Instead of just ending the game right when you see the key. It was like an "ah ha what next moment?" but the game just stopped. I enjoy escape rooms but I am not sure if I will come back to this location again. Maybe it was just the room we did but I don't think it was worth the $30. read more

Went back again yesterday for a very special occasion (my brother's bachelor party), and was highly disappointed with a few parts of my experience with Can You Escape, and if it's indicative of the way things have changed, I can no longer unequivocally recommend this location. Us: 4 nerdy guys celebrating my brother's last hurrah by going out for dinner and then doing an escape room marathon. Our first stop was the new room in the Mineola location - a research lab. When we got there, the manager on duty looked like she couldn't handle what was going on. She asked me four times what room I was booked for. She didn't listen, and in a service industry like this, it's paramount. Next, we were taken to the room and read the rules. That's absolutely fine, and our game started: The Research Lab: 4 players. I'm the enthusiast with 70+ games under my belt. My brother has around 8. My friends were newbies and had never played an escape room before. Us: Escaped with 19 minutes remaining! The good: The puzzles were fun, and there are a few different puzzles that just don't exist in other rooms at this location. Lots of very interesting things to do in the room, but... The mediocre: The puzzles were repetitive. The method of giving information was the same each time. Finding a flash drive once is fine. Finding 3 of them seems slightly lazy. The not so good: There were some props in the room that was not working properly. For such a new room, that's not okay. The UNFORGIVABLE: The room was not reset properly, and an entire lock was not reset and open at the beginning of the game. There was no checklist and no oversight. I told the game master after the game, and she apologized to me, but that was the end of the conversation. This would have still been a four star review, until the very end when my brother went to use the bathroom before we left to our next location. She refused to allow my brother to use it, because "she had just cleaned the bathroom" and told him to go elsewhere. With that behavior, I hope others go elsewhere too. If this was my first visit here, it would have absolutely been my last. I hope the owner reaches out to me to discuss this. read more

11-25-16, 8:00 I came in for the new mobile Escape Asylum located in Mineola. Upon arrival the staff was very friendly. The young woman at the door was very sweet and perky. We were teamed up with two gentlemen and their three children (under the age of twelve). We immediately bonded and were excited to start our new challenge. We had exchanged stories of how my friends and I have been to this location four other times and had great experiences... When entering the mobile bus, the two employees were extremely rude and talked down to us. The setup took far too long because they were unsure of how to start the game itself. During the game you are allowed to ask for three hints; which we did ask for with no hesitation. You could hear the disgust and the condescending attitude in the gentleman's voice while "helping us"... if he was properly monitoring the cameras, he would have realized we had already accomplished the late "hint" he had given us... while giving the "hint" he realized he misplaced clues and had to give us the answer over the walker talkie.. After our hour (which we did not win) the gentleman came in and explained to us in detail how we did not work as a team and no one listened to one another... he was extremely rude and had no bedside manner. Being that there were three children under the age of twelve, he should have been perky and friendly.. "we went wrong right from the start" was my favorite line of his..... He should have been encouraging us to try harder for next time, not critiquing every step we did in such a demeaning manner. I must say I was a little disappointed in this Escape Room experience, I have done them previously on Long Island and preferred the other businesses. The staff was very friendly, no complaints there, but the immersive room had a number of problems. We did an escape that was themed on some kind of escape-from-a-zombie-virus-lab. There were 5 of us, all thin to average-sized people, and it was just too small. We kept bumping into each other, there wasn't really enough room to break up into smaller groups or work individually. The materials were worn out and gross--for example, there were translucent papers that were all curled up after so many uses, and a device where you had to put your hands into gloves to rotate a lock which was just sticky and hard to move. There were lots of buttons covered in tape that you weren't supposed to touch. One of the puzzles in the room not functioning properly even after it was correctly solved, so the staff had to override it. There were also a lot of kind of cheap props just thrown in taking up space. We escaped in the end and it was fun but knowing how other escape rooms are--much cleaner, bigger, no taped up knobs, I would recommend going elsewhere. As far as the covid situation, it worked out fine with masks on but keep in mind the people you ask to do this with--you'll be very close to them, no room for distancing. read more

We did the interrogation room and had a blast. We were in a large group and some of our members just gave up and did not for the last 15-20 minutes we were in there. We were stuck forever on one of the last clues thinking, what did we miss, and all of a sudden someone figures it out and we were once again racing the clock to get our key, Our flashlight almost ran out of battery and if that had happened, we would have not been able to complete the room. Also, kudos to them for keeping the rooms air controlled. With so many people in the room it didn't get hot, which I am so, so thankful for. I definitely want to try the prison cell room as I hear so much buzz about it. This place is definitely great for groups. I don't think this is good for kids, the puzzles are pretty tough and the material (the storylines deal with murder, etc) can be a bit much. Also, there are some skills that kids just wouldn't have learned unless they are some prodigy. Make sure you book an appointment. ~~There IS parking. It's in the back. A lot of people don't know about it. So, now you so know if you're reading this. ~~ Also, try and arrive early. While the staff do have to reset the rooms, they may be ready early, and there's a lot of people crowding the lobby. The owner was nice to us, despite us being a bit rowdy and hard to control. The parking lot that they had in the front is very small, so my family and I got lucky to get a spot. We walked in and the staff were very very friendly and greeted everyone in my group. They recommend using the bathroom before starting your room so even before going to the place use the bathroom because if there is another large group there, you'll be waiting awhile since there is one bathroom. We waited about 15 minutes in the waiting area (occupied by the brain games they had by the couches) to start our room- The Apartment. It's a decent sized room that held 8 people. Very fun and a great family activity to do. My issue with the room though was that some of their clues were very worn out and even some were broken. For one of the clues it was broken (like one of the pieces was loose), which interfered with my family and I figuring something out. Also their communication system needs fixing. There is delays in the speaker so the staff member that is helping you out with the room sometimes won't tell you things until a little later since their sound system is delayed. Also whenever the staff member spoke to us, the speakers weren't clear so we honestly could not understand what she was saying to my family and I when she was trying to help us out with the clues, which did get annoying. Often times we would have to take up time asking for her to repeat what she was saying. Overall it was a good experience and fun, if they fixed all their problems and issues with the rooms then I'd give them more stars. read more

I had so much fun here last night! My friends and I decided to try the new prison game they have. We were the second team to ever beat it with one minute left on the clock! We were paired with another group of 4 and placed in separate cells and had to find our way to each other. Whoever came up with this game was very smart. There are so many specific steps that you need to take to get out and it was all very intriguing. At no point did I feel claustrophobic because there is always an emergency key to get out. Simon Says - Don't Go Here. *Warning, this review has a minor spoiler about one of the rooms puzzles. But honestly you should go somewhere else anyway, so please read on, but if you want a shortened version just scroll to the end* I have been to about 10+ different escape rooms at different locations and was excited to see what this location had to offer. Usually Escape Rooms use two different kinds of methods for their puzzles, lock based and magnet/trigger based. This one had a combination of both which isn't a bad thing, unless the magnet/trigger doesn't work properly. At one point in the room you have to play "Simon" and look at buttons that quickly light up in a certain order and then press them in the exact order back, and a door should open. Simple right? Well we did that again and again and nothing happened. Maybe we had to get it right twice in a row and something would happen? Still Nothing. Three times correct in a row (no mean feat by the way). Nope. During the 20 minutes of trying our luck on this one part of the room, thinking we were doing something wrong or missing something so we decided to ask for help and used all three Game Master hints that we are allowed to ask for. Here is what the "Game Master" wrote us back Clue 1) - Simon will help you get out of here. Thanks. Not helpful at all, already on it. Clue 2) Think of different ways of Memorizing the Lights. We had four people memorizing and writing down each light combination, and we clearly typed it in correctly over 20+ times. Clue 3) Have someone stand by the door when the combination is typed in correctly. Ok, someone is standing there (Maybe they have to be on a pressure plate to trigger the door opening)? Nope didn't work. Finally, I decided to hold onto the door handle and keep pulling it (something that is heavily frowned upon as you might break something in other escape rooms), and when the code was entered correctly for the 20+ time the door opened. We also ended up closing the door by accident again and hand to redo the whole thing all over again which wasn't a fun experience. We blew through the rest of the remaining puzzles but ran out of time right as we were figuring out the last code to escape the room. When the "Game Master" came in at the end we asked about the final code and if she could let us know what it was to see if we were close, but she had no idea what it was and she had a very bad attitude overall. Now I don't have a problem with not escaping but I do have a problem with getting stuck on one puzzle for 20 minutes and having to use all three hints and still not get any help. The Game Master is there to help enhance your game and make sure that the room is running smoothly. If she had been monitoring us properly she should have seen that we were getting the combination correctly but just needed to turn the door handle while the correct code was being entered. A simple hint like "Hold the door handle" or something would have gone a long way. This also could have been fixed a mechanical way (enter in the right combo and the door swings open , just like everything else in that room) But not having your Game Master know the answers to all the clues is also not acceptable (maybe she wasn't aware you had to hold the handle?). I wanted to like this place, but due to either a malfunctioning puzzle or just terrible communication/knowledge by the Game Master it made it a very bitter experience and I won't be coming back to try the other rooms. If you are looking for an actual fun escape try "Komata Quest" in the city, Just Escape in Massapequa, or EscapeGameLi in Ronkonkoma depending on where you are. read more

This was my first time participating in an "escape the room" challenge today and I can confidently say that I had a blast. I went with a group of seven and successfully escaped the room with four minutes left to spare on the clock. We did the one of the more challenging rooms with approximately a 25% success rate and I felt so accomplished, relieved, and excited to be in that 25%. The clues were very well thought-out and logical. The three hints were definite lifesavers and Erica, our attendant, helped us very punctually with the clues. When we were having this frustrating problem with the directional locks, Erica posted a prompt on the screen (where the clues are given) to inform us to click the lock twice after every failed attempt. After more infuriating attempts, she came in to make sure one of the two locks worked. Then she stayed in the room as we unlocked the second one to make sure that it wasn't broken. Without her help, I don't think our group would have escaped the room! Overall, I highly recommend this place and I can say that I really enjoyed the experience. The sense of observation, cooperation, and communication felt very rewarding. I am definitely planning on going back here after my brain is fully rested from today! read more

She was attentive when we needed a clue it came quick, so we knew she was paying attention to us. We went in as a group of 8 and finished the 2nd hardest with a 26% success rate with flying colors. Karli and Jenna were the staff who helped us. very friendly and helpful. at one point some items were missing from the room and they were slipped under the door for us. I felt it was both well-maintained and challenging. we did the "Once Upon a Time" room which is probably best suited for 4 people, and though the 2 of us failed to escape we had a great time. the website and booking interface are really top-notch, which is something I appreciated. great to be able to see ahead of time which rooms were available, at what times, how many people they could fit, the themes/descriptions, and other key details. wish other escape rooms had that. small but comfortable waiting room. plenty of parking behind the building - don't be discouraged if the tiny parking lot in front is full, just go around back behind the Chase bank. with several different room themes and sizes, I'm fairly sure we'll be back. read more

I wish I could tell you I was able to experience this, however due to poor management I wasn't. They had a trailer set up this weekend at the Flanders Food Truck Festival. My 12 year old nephew was very excited to check it out. In fact that was the only reason he wanted to come. We paid $20 for myself and my nephew, were told to sign in, and come back in 30 minutes. The time was written clearly next to my name on the sheet. When we returned at our assigned time the room wasn't ready and we were asked to wait a bit and allow them to reset the room. We were fine with that. When they were ready they let in 2 groups ahead of us, one who was also signed in with us and another who claimed to have been also told to come back at the same time (who had not signed in.) Both groups were comprised of all adults. Needless to say we felt it was extremely mismanaged and not to mention if they're willing to disappoint a kid by allowing the adults in before the kid. I used to love coming here. I decided to come back for my 21st birthday and do an escape room. I made a reservation over a week ago and then get a call today less than 24 hours before the room they are canceling on me a refund was offered but to cancel with less than 24 hours notice is super unprofessional and beyond inconvenient and upsetting. On top of that when I was speaking with the woman on the phone she asked if I wanted to move to another day and I said no and she replied okay and hung up when I was in the middle of talking. I called back and said that I was not done talk and she sarcastically said oh sorry I didn't realize as if being on the phone with me was an annoyance to her. I then asked when my refund would be refunded and she answered and then hung up again. I was done speaking at this point but she didn't ask if I had anymore question or say have a nice day etc. None of the typical professional ways to say goodbye.
