For starters, the place was very nice, but in the area we were seated it was very cold. There was a heater nearby, but it wasn't as strong as I would've liked.
This was a 5 course tasting menu inspired by traditional Catalonian dishes. For starters, appetizers, bread, tomato, olives, chips, and anchovies, were pretty standard. Next, "The Coast", snails, prawns, black rice, cod fritters, and meatballs. This was probably one of my favorite plates. I really enjoyed the snails and the prawn. The rice and meatball were pretty bland. The fritter was nicely fried on the outside, but extremely wet and mushy on the inside. Next, "The Interior", another one of my favorite plates, consisting of salad, roasted vegetables with smoked fish, and pickled mushrooms. I like the variety of flavor profiles and thought this dish actually had some flavor to it. Next, "The Mountains", traditional stew, venison cannoli, and pork cracklings. This dish was just okay, the stew was again bland, the pork cracklings is just a piece of pork fat, and the cannoli's are very salty. The last dish, desserts, was a let down as my Catalan cream still had a huge lump of unmelted sugar. If the sugar had been melted it would've tasted much better.
The service was very nice and attentive. This was the best part of my experience. Three times they excelled at this: 1) waiter brought me a bag hanger when my bag fell on the floor 2) tried to turn up the heaters when asked and 3) brought me another Catalan cream because the sugar was completely unmelted however, the second one was still unmelted like the first.
Overall, for the price, I expected more. I do not question the quality of the ingredients, but for me it's a pass.
