We decided to go upstairs to order, when we stood at the kiosk upstairs nobody was there, so not too much of an issue, we just bumbled downstairs to place our food and drinks orders. Servers polite and efficient. Went upstairs to wait for our food, to be fair most people that come here get their food delivered to their seats in the cinema part, as that's part of the charm, but we had ours outside in the drinks area. Tables were well small and had to juggle about and put our drinks on the floor, to fit the food on the table. Burgers were of a good standard and really fresh and tasty. If you like them well done be sure to ask as they were very much medium and people that aren't a fan of the pink might not like. The chips I didn't really like. No fork was provided. Tasted all fine though. We went through to the screen and we had a tiny delay as they were still cleaning up. But, considering people eat their dinners in there, I'd rather wait a minute than sit on a slice of pizza or a chip! Seating well comfy, really enjoyed the actual film and setting, it did feel quite special. For about less than £2 more than a normal cinema I will go here again, absolutely!!!!!

Hatfield House - Hatfield

I visited this house a few years ago which was only a few miles from my high school in…read moreHertfordshire and realized its historical significance. This was the house where Mary I, Elizabeth I and Edward VI were raised. London in Henry VIII's time was riddled with disease such as typhoid, cholera and smallpox, hardly a place fit for little royals where childhood mortality was common. King Henry VIII choose Hatfield house for its proximity to London but far away enough from its scourge. Located in the North Downs, you could see the Thames and from London, you could see Hatfield House. Henry could signal his intention to visit his children and the royal household at Hatfield would make preparations to cater for his arrival with his royal entourage. The journey on horse from London to Hatfield would take a day by the way of Saint Johns Wood. Now you could get to Hatfield from Central London in probably an hour. On a clear day you should be able to see the London Eye from Hatfield if you know what you are looking for. This house was a crucial incubator of the protestant faith. King Henry had the best scholars of the time to instruct his children so that they can continue their reign as protestants. Without Elizabeth I being a strong protestant, England might have kept the Catholic faith as the country's religion. Her eldest sister Queen Mary reinstated Catholicism as the faith of the land when she reigned after the death of Edward VI and the brief reign of Jane Earl Grey. It was reverted to the Church of England when Elizabeth I became Queen. So, if you are ever within spitting distance of this place you should try and see it.

Hatfield House is a lovely day out from London. It is about a 25 minute train ride north of London…read more Hatfield House is the family home of the Marquess of Salisbury, and was built by Robert Cecil (Chief Minister to James I, and son of William Cecil) from 1607-1611. The house is gorgeous, and has loads of beautiful furniture and art. Also on site is Old Hatfield Palace, where Elizabeth I spent much of her childhood. Elizabeth was out on the grounds at Hatfield when she learned that she was now queen, following the death of her sister Mary. Hatfield has somewhat limited opening hours, and is closed (except for the grounds and for special events) during the winter. Check the website (great info) for details. I recommend going at the weekend: during the week you must take a guided tour of the home. The guide was knowledgable and entertaining, but we had to keep moving ahead of the group behind us, so did not have time to savor all of the wonderful things about Hatfield. I will definitely go back.

SUICIDE ATTEMPT DOESN'T WARRANT A EXCHANGE....? Disgraceful…read morecustomer service. Not helpful in anyway. I'm stuck in stand still traffic because police have stopped traffic on the A1 because of a suicide attempt and June who I spoke to couldn't give myself and my husband who had booked the cinema as a surprise a refund. So I'm currently in standstill traffic, sad news that someone wants to end their life and June couldn't even give me another date to book and also refused to give us a refund. I'm not even asking for money back, I just want another date! This is disgusting service in this day and age. These tickets are expensive and have no decency to book us another date and time because the film has started, thank you so much June for just adding to this ordeal!

My first film was 'The Lobster', which felt like an appropriate choice for an independent cinema. The Odyssey took many years of fundraising and private backings before it could open, but it was worth the wait. There now stands a plush art deco venue with two levels of seating much like a theatre. The upstairs has rows of seating as you would expect, but downstairs is tables and chairs for a more relaxed feel. At the back there is a bar serving alcohol, hot drinks and snacks. Only downer is the popcorn which is nothing more than ready bagged stuff at a markup (I love cinema popcorn). There's only 1 screen (but a big one) so many films only show for 1 or 2 nights and sell out fast. It's a bit more expensive than the multiplex in neighbouring towns but it is far nicer. A real treat. It may have taken me a year to come for my first film, but I'll be sure to go back sooner.
