The best breakfast in Alamosa! Campus Cafe is a small local joint with friendly staff, great food, and even better prices. Many regulars rave about the breakfast burritos...which are huge! I recommend adding chile to anything you order (burritos, eggs, potatoes, etc...). I prefer the red chile, but the green is good also. If you're not in the mood for chile, the pancakes, waffles, or biscuits and gravy are good choices. Whatever you eat, you MUST top it of with one of their famous cinnamon rolls!!! Keep in mind that one cinnamon roll is enough to feed at least four people. .. and if you're full, the staff will happily pack it to go. Campus Cafe is also open for lunch until 1pm. My lunch recommendation is the cheeseburger and fries with red chile. One last thing. .. don't be scared off if there happens to be a long line on Saturday or Sunday morning... this is normal. They're usually quick and even if you need to wait for awhile, you won't regret it! read more

It's definitely better to go during the week unless you don't mind waiting quite a while to get a table. *****Update 7/29/16***** The food & service are still great but I do wish you could make a change or two to the omelettes (they won't make any changes) - I really wanted to either swap the bacon for ham or add chopped tomato to the ham & cheese omelet and ended up settling on the bacon tomato Swiss omelet - and I do wish the bacon in the omelet was chopped instead of being a whole strip. Delicious food with fast and friendly service. We had standard diner fare with the daily special for breakfast and biscuits and gravy. The toast has to be homemade as it was a huge slice with great flavor. The cinnamon role is the size of your head and way too much for two people but we still regretted leaving any on the plate. A great restaurant clearly frequented by the locals which is a great sign in itself. We will definitely be back next time we're in town! read more

Campus Cafe is Alamosa's iconic breakfast spot. An old-fashioned diner- the cafe is cozy and always crowded- often with many of ASU's student-athletes. Anything topped with green-chile is delicious, but the highlight is the cinnamon rolls. Warning- do not attempt to eat one all by yourself! One roll is enough for a family! They are huge and come with the most delicious buttery frosting. Definitely a caloric splurge, but worth it! read more

Omg this is my new favorite place to go when I come in town to visit my son who goes to ADAMS STATE. The food was delicious!!! And may I say the cinnamon roll makes me want to jump in my car every day and drive 3 hours just to have again!!!! The prices are insanely cheap for the portions are huge and so much FLAVOR! This place is really close to where you head south on 285 in Alamosa. We were stopping to buy gas and saw this place on a side street. This place is an extremely casual, hole in the wall sort of restaurant. The patrons appeared to be all locals and they were fairly busy when we stopped in for a late breakfast/early lunch. My son ordered the cheddar cheese omelet, with potatoes and white toast. I ordered the chicken fried steak, which was served with mashed potatoes and mixed vegetables. The mixed veggies were the least appealing item, and they seemed like frozen veggies they just nuked. The chicken fried steak was hot and tasty, the crunchy coating nicely seasoned. My son's cheddar omelet was also really tasty and his toast was obviously homemade bread. It was a large slab of bread that he mentioned a couple more times during our trip. Overall, the food was like 'homemade' - with the main items freshly cooked and perhaps taking a short cut here and there with other items. However, I gave them 4 stars because they are exactly what they look like from the outside: really affordable diner food. My chicken fried steak special was only $5! Our total bill, including tax was only around $16 (tipped in cash). That's a sweet deal for breakfast and 2 beverages. I would definitely go back to this place if I stopped in Alamosa again. read more

Cozy very bustling grandmas kitchen type digs here! Very reasonable prices about 10 - 15% less than iHop. More of a workers man type breakfast place. Food is def on the home cooking level. Great green chile. Good place to walk/ in (parking is limited) unless you opt to park in Safeways lot across the street. And heck yeah! This place was everything I dreamt it might be. And so much more. I didn't try the cinnamon rolls but my omelet, my hash browns and even the toast were all excellent. The service was tremendously friendly. She was apologetic for being slow (which she wasn't) and when I asked for a cup to take some ice with me she filled it up with tea to go. What I didn't expect was that it would be packed on Easter Morning. My first reaction was how LOUD it was - so many people packed into a close space having a great morning. What I also didn't expect was to see a shrine to Adams State cross country. As a former coach, individual NCAA trophies are coveted yet there they were lined up across shelves and on the wall. A bunch of us stopped here for lunch recently after visiting the Gator Farm (so cool!). Adults and kids alike give it an enthusiastic thumbs up! From the burritos to the eggs/waffles/pancakes to the giant cinnamon roll (this isn't my usual fare so I had the English breakfast---eggs, fresh sliced tomatoes, bacon, fruit, bread--I enjoyed it)---everyone was pleased and the portions generous---especially for the price. Rolled in on a Sunday at about 10 am to find a decently busy, but not packed restaurant. Despite this, we were able to find an open table right away (which was still dirty and full of plates). After waiting about 15 minutes, the waitress finally came over to take drink orders. Waited another 10 minutes for her to clear the table, after which we waited another 10 minutes to get a menu. After looking over the menu we had to wait another 10 minutes for her to take our order, then what seemed like an eternity for the food to come out. In that time span we watched 6 tables come in, sit down, eat, and leave. When the food FINALLY came out it was mediocre at best. My breakfast burrito was completely forgetful (I think it had bacon in it) and my girlfriends strawberry pancakes were a chewy, soggy mess with whipped cream and canned strawberries (what, can't get fresh berries??) tossed on top. Two hours later we finally received the check and when I expressed my frustrations to management, they told me "Too bad, we've never had anyone complain in the past." I'm not one to ask for handouts, but in this situation I definitely did not feel like the bill was worth the experience. I asked how they intended to make it right and management's response was, "nothing, pay the bill or we'll call the cops." Really??? This is how you respond to frustrated customers??? Give me a break. We spent nearly half our morning in the restaurant and what did we get for it? A mediocre breakfast and a restaurant staff unwilling to do ANYTHING to make us feel like coming back. Here's a pro tip, do yourself a favor and completely skip the Campus Cafe. There's a brand new IHOP down the street, as well as plenty of other breakfast options in town to take care of you. read more

I was told that this place had good cinnamon rolls the size of my face and let's face it--who can resist that?!?!?! Well, first off, the old guy that's in the office (the owner?) is a huge DICK. We ordered a cinnamon roll with butter & icing to go and he pointed to the chalk board and said rather rudely, "these are our specials." On top of that, their cinnamon roll wasn't even good! Great location near campus but could be a little difficult to find for a tourist. I went there for breakfast while doing some business at Adams State. Good home cooking with fresh ingredients and lots of good sounding stuff on the menu. I have eating here for several years and the food is always good and consistant. There specialty is a cinnamon bun that is so large it takes at least two to eat it. They have breakfast specials that will leave you pleasantly filled for $4.00 dollars. Coffee is good and the service is great. If you don't get there by 8:00 or earlier, you will have a hard time finding a seat. All of the bread items is home made and I believe most of the produce meat and eggs is bought locally. read more
