Drove all over town and the south valley on a Wednesday, only to find no barbershops taking walk-ins. Ended up cruising through the university area, and lo and behold, Campus Barbershop came through! They got my nephew right with a clean haircut and straight razor shave, perfect for paying our last respects to an amazing Tía. The barbers here are pros--sharp skills and even sharper advice for a young man learning to grow and maintain his beard. Quick, professional, and chill vibes. I've come here for the last few years and the outdated, judgmental reviews can essentially be ignored. Here's why: This is a modern, clean and organized barbershop that allows you to schedule appointments and pay ahead on an app. You can also call ahead. They are always happy to help and acknowledge every person that comes in. The free app is very convenient (you pay a little extra for the appointment conveniences, otherwise it's first come, first serve for walk ins...and explains why you might get pushed back, they prioritize those who put in the extra effort and appointment fee). Great atmosphere. Friendly conversation. Abraham and Zack do excellent work but if they're booked up you can walk in and count on any of the barbers here to leave you with a good haircut. No one leaves looking worse than when they arrived. read more

One of my favorite barber shops in Albuquerque. Everyone here does great cuts, is experienced, and friendly. Admittedly the business aspect of the business could use some work, but if you want a consistently great haircut look no further. Pros: -Great haircuts. I mean, that's what I came for. Basic cuts and complicated detail work all come out very well. I've asked for advice on cuts, and they've always been honest. Put simply, I've never walked away unhappy. -Cost. $14 a cut from any of the barbers. About average price compared to other places I've been, but the value of the work is higher. -Location. Straight across from UNM. This and the cost factor make it great for students. Neutral: -Atmosphere. This is neither here nor there for me. The barbers here are pretty genuine people, and a little rough around the edges. They'll drop f-bombs and talk about some weird things. But so will I. I love them, in the same way I love my Italian uncle Joey who won't stop calling people retarded. If you're okay with an honest, no-judgement guys zone, come here. If not, don't. Cons: -Scheduling. Scheduling is done by a clip board that keeps track of reservations, and walk ins. This may not be immediately obvious to people who walk in, and causes some confusion. Each barber has their own reservations and schedules, and the place is usually busy. If you don't sign in, you won't get a cut. It's just too hard to keep track of otherwise. Reservations typically come first, so I recommend calling ahead. -Cash only. There are lots of ATMs nearby, so this isn't a huge deal. read more

So I used to go here regularly before I moved out of town. They used to have good barbers who took time and care. When I came in for my appointment kinda got the vibe that Zach was not into the idea of working. The haircut lasted 15 minutes, he didn't seem to really listen to my request, didn't put a paper liner around my neck, and he didn't offer a lineup or product like my past experiences with other barbers here. When he asked how I normally styled my hair, I said "the way I'm currently wearing it" and described it as the hair "fanning in all directions". He responded with, "so you comb it all forward". I then corrected him saying "kinda but only the hair closer to the center goes forward, and the hair on the sides goes outwards". He responded by asking how I wanted to have it cut. I told him I wanted to trim a little bit of weight off of the crown b/c it was way longer than the rest of the hair on top and weighing it down, 0 mid-fade a fade on the sides and back, and we will see if I want it thinned out because I want to retain most of the length. Anyway he ended up not listening and my hair went from 6 inches to 2, the fade was blended like a middle aged white woman from Supercuts attempted a fade. Long story short, stay away from Zach. Was a real bummer bc this was my first haircut since the beginning of the pandemic. I've done a better job myself. read more

4 chair barber shop, 3 barbers working, one walks to the back and doesn't return. I'm the second of exactly two walk-ins. Other two barbers work on the same two haircuts for 45 minutes. Two more guys walk-in. At that point one of the barbers finally reveals that the walk-in ahead of me will go next -- and it will be another hour and 45 minutes before they can get to me because of appointments. Thanks for nothing. If you have a couple hours to waste, go somewhere entertaining -- and AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. read more

This place is a joke at best. My roommate recommended this place since it's close by and they offer a good cut at a decent price. Out of the four times I went, they were closed during posted business hours three of the times. The fourth time I went, I called ahead per their recommendation. Showed up and was told to have a seat and that I was up next. Two other dudes walked in while I was waiting and were seen before me, so I got up and left. I will never attempt to come here again.
