A barbershop that has you feeling like you're getting a haircut at a friend's house. Not only was Abel, the owner of the shop the guy to do my cut but his stories were hilarious and kept me entertained. Everyone who walks in through the doors is super friendly and just open to genuine conversation. Everyone chimed in and there was a lot of life in the shop. My haircut came out super clean and I got compliments from my family over the weekend. I'd definitely get my haircut here again. Plan ahead as they accept cash, venmo, or cash app. read more

Great place to chat a get a great cut! Went in for a beard trim and came out looking good my friend!! Abel is a great guy and his staff was very friendly!? read more

Has moved location. 532 Washington NE - SE corner of Washington and Lomas. Has some help now. Conversation still keeps you staying after the cut. read more

Great environment, cut, value, and time spent. There was 1 person ahead of me but took no time at all. I spend about an hour here for some great entertainment and a taper fade. I'll definitely return when in the area. I'd attempted 3 shops prior to this one on a Saturday at 14:30. All 3 were close, hours not posted, and inaccurate times listed online. There was an awesome pup that hangs out. He came by for some attention and moseyed on back to his bed. I'd definitely recommend. read more

I walked in on Friday, and they took me in pretty quickly (25 minutes). I got a real "old school" haircut with razor trim around the edges- felt great, and reasonably priced. I think I found my barber. read more

Stop looking, this is your new barber. Great haircut at a great price (seriously, I'm used to paying 3x his prices for half the quality back home). The shop has a really cool interior and the owner/barber Abel is super friendly and knowledgeable. You could tell it was a hangout spot - There was lively conversation the whole time and one of the other clients even mentioned he would come to get a cut when he was bored just to check in and say hi. Some other reviews say there was a bit of a wait. I had a reservation, walked in and was seated immediately, even though I was slightly early. The walk-in after me was seated quickly too. Say hi to Nova, the barbershop dog, and give yourself extra time to break in the fresh 'do wandering around Green Jeans, the stacked-storage-container makerspace that the shop is located in. Great eats, shops, and a taproom in a unique environment, all locally owned. read more

I thought others shave their own head so why not buzz your own? Well you already know how that turned out. Anxious and embarrassed yet also feeling proud for trying I went directly to Fonzy's for help. Everyone made me feel welcome. I literally had bald spots from my hack job and the second best barber after Abel in NM, Jonathan ;) totally hooked me up. I appreciate y'all more than you know. read more

What a delight it was to get a great haircut in a facility that adheres to proper protocol of this pandemic we are living within. Would I recommend Fonzy's Barber Shop? Absolutely! I hope the government allows facilities that operate properly within the procedures of the coronavirus like Fonzy's, to remain in business. They're doing it right. read more

I am a sucker for Yelp reviews, and went straight to "The Barber's Shop" in Nob Hil after seeing they were in Mens Health Magazine. However, I had to wait forever, there were only women cutting hair, and it was a really unwelcoming atmosphere. I drove a couple blocks up the street and ran into Fonzy's. This place is the best. He cuts everyones hair, he makes excellent conversation, has a fully stocked fridge, accepts walk ins, gets you in and out quick yet listens to what you want, and only charges $10 for a haircut! If you want to experience a truly "Manly" barbershop, go to this place. Don't waste your money on a gimmick somewhere else. read more

Fonzy's Barber Shop - Barbers Near Me - Albuquerque, New Mexico

only fair cut. Walked in, no one greeted me. felt like I was not particularly welcome.. Some biker dude in next chair mad dogged me on his way out, very strange. owner hacked away with some clippers. Disregarded photo of how I wanted beard trim. looks very similar to how I hack away at my own hair when I cut it myself. I left too big of a tip, not appreciated on any level. read more

We were visiting the area for a wedding and Balloon Festival. This shop saved me. My husband looked like the wolf man. Only downfall after getting the best haircut ever they're in Albuquerque and we live in California. Thank you. See you next year! read more

Horrible job. The man with the glasses and black hair, who is all the way to the right when you walk in, needs to take some classes. His personality was very odd and I believe he needs to go to haircut school again. I recommend avoiding this place. read more

My buddy and I needed to get cleaned up before my brother's wedding this last weekend. Being the forward thinkers that we are, we strolled in just over 4 hours before the ceremony and there were 6 ahead of us in a one-man shop. We needed to get cut, and we needed it now, but we aren't going to find a stylist. We couldn't wait, but why would you go to an empty shop? Fat forward to an hour, 45 minutes, 8 haircuts, and a beard trim later, and we're out the door and on the way to the venue. And for just a few minutes per cut, engine cane out of there looking clean. Conversation was flowing the entire time we were there, and the time flew by. I'm coming back next time I drive through on a Friday or Saturday! read more

Pretty bad haircut from the owner. Cheap, but you get what you pay for I guess. Never again.

I came in for a haircut and a shave. As far as the haircut goes, he did a perfectly fine job. However, the shave was terrible. I've never had a barber ask me if I wanted a straight razor shave or for them to use electric clippers, they just use a straight razor. The shave itself was bad as well, I was bleeding quite a lot and he also missed a spot. I would recommend this place for a haircut but NOT a shave. read more

Had a great haircutting experience here. Friendly staff that gives you a great cut quickly at a good price, so if you want to look good go to Fonzy's!!! read more

I actually loved my first few haircuts here. But then Abel started to complain how my haircut took long to do even though I would give him double/triple the regular fee. The quality of my cut went wayyy down and he kept complaining. Decided to find another barber after those last few uncomfortable encounters. read more

Best barbershop experience since I moved back to NM over 2 years ago. Clean shop, great lines, awesome personality and professionalism, and the new location is retry convenient being right inside Green Jeans. Appointment or walk-in, doesn't matter - just go. read more

A throwback to the days of old. Fonzy's is just that... It's a place where old men and young alike come for that two chair environment. We talk nonsense and download our worries on our psychologist... I mean barber. Abel is awesome at what he does, and I have never left with disappointment when he's cut my hair. I'm incredibly particular and this man doesn't miss a detail. The funny thing is that much like old school barbers you get the barber's cut when you go there. I'm glad I've found this little oasis and I have to thank my buddies for finding it. For the $10 price you get a good haircut and you also get a hot lather and straight razor neck shave. Sometimes you'll wait for a moment for Abel's expert hand, but all and all, its far worth the time and money. read more

Lemme tell you somethin, this place is luh-git. Stopped in here one day when I got off work early. Abel was super personable. His dog, even more! We started chatting, I had been away from the 505 for a few years. In talking with him I learned that we knew MANY of the same people. Instant connection. Aside from the social connection we have, his cut was perfect. I needed to get cleaned up for my wedding in a few days. He cleaned it up beautifully. Definitely my go-to. read more

Great spot. Super friendly guys who are pros at their craft. When you're there make sure to ask about Aunt Martha.

Very odd haircut experience, run by an oddball barber with limited skills and lots of annoying, uninteresting opinions. Honestly wouldn't recommend to anyone. read more

This is a cool, classic shop. Sit your butt in a barber chair that's a hundred years old and get a no fuss cut. Be prepared to wait- Abel is popular for a reason. read more

If you ever want to have an authentic barbershop experience this is the place to come. You can get your hair cut and a real strait razor shave for only $10. Great cut! Great conversation! Went in today as a walk-in (Friday). He does walk-ins on Thursday & Friday. Sat down to a friendly and fun conversation with a couple other people. Probably only waited about 30-45 min, but it flew right by because it was comfortable and entertaining. Walked out with a fantastic cut! read more

Fonzy was absolutely great cutting my grandsons hair. He was very kind and thoughtful. He wiped my grandsons runny nose. He used his cell phone to find Elmo on YouTube to distract him during his first haircut. Lastly he provided a baggie to put a piece of baby hair as momento. The experience was wonderful. Great guy with old style barbershop atmosphere. Thank you Fonzy! read more

It's a fun environment! I get great hairs cuts at a great price! And I don't need to make an appointment! Sold! I recently moved to Albuquerque from Ohio. I really enjoy going to the barber shop and getting cleaned up but am really bad about making appointments. I saw the great reviews and assumed I would need to make an appointment. However, when I called, I learned that it was walk-in only; I actually prefer this because I am bad about remembering to make appointments and often ended up looking shaggy in Ohio as a result. Another reason I like the walk-in policy is that, at Fonzy's Barber Shop, waiting to get your hair cut is actually fun. I really enjoy listening to the conversations that go on in this place; Abel is quite a character! read more

Fit me in at the end of the day and gave me a solid fade to go along with the solid service and convo. 10/10. Would return.

This place is the real deal. A great place for a guy to go for great conversation and a great haircut. Was in Albuquerque visiting family and needed a haircut. Not a fan of salons so stopped in here and waited my turn. Everyone including the barber was friendly and welcoming. Asked for a haircut and that's what I got at a more than fair price. Will go there again the next time I'm in town. Great find. read more

This is hands down the best barbershop I've ever been to. The owner, Abel, is creating a hangout environment where you also can get a top notch haircut. He has a fridge that is stocked and as much entertaining conversation as a person can handle. If you want the entire experience you can get a hot towel and straight razor shave for the same ten dollars. In my opinion a person can't do better. Sadly, I just moved to Florida and I miss this place as much as I miss my friends, family, and green chile. read more

Great cut, old school barbershop feel and good conversation. Made an appointment for late afternoon and arrived 15 mins early. The Fonz took me early and got me out quickly. He had a walk in come in during my cut. Obviously he knows his clients well as they caught up on current state affairs. I can understand why his business is so successful. He's created an environment that feels like a small town hang out. You know kinda like the show "Cheers". Ok kind of dating my age there. read more

Got my first haircut here yesterday and it's the best cut I've gotten in abq. I've tried soooo many barbers in this city and had lots of bad experiences -- unprofessional, dirty, rude -- but Fonzy's is clean and super professional. While I was there some regulars came in and you can tell they love this place. I do too now. I've never felt so welcome in a barber shop or gotten such a good haircut. read more

Best barber shop in Albuquerque! When I moved here I did a lot of research to find an affordable and professional barber - and this is the place. Able, the owner, is very friendly and has never given me a bad cut. As of right now, he usually charges a flat price of $10 and that includes a straight edge neck shave too! Warning though, it can be busy, so go during offtimes. read more

Great service! Really good Barber! Good atmosphere awesome place to just come hang out and get a haircut.

Awesome experience. Talked to me before and gave me exactly what I wanted as opposed to just give a buzz cut and out the door. Prices are reasonable, and great atmosphere. Just get there early, because they fill up fast. Definitely coming back! read more
