The food is great. One of our favorite spots for Mexican food since we moved here. The staff is always helpful.

The European Delicatessen is truly an Eastern European Delicatessen. You will not find grocery…read moreitems from Spain, France, England, or Italy but you will find staples from Romania, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Hungary, and Poland. When I lasted visited I was looking for French holiday chocolates. Obviously, I didn't find any. More specifically, the French holiday chocolates are called Papillotes. Papillotes are wrapped like little presents and have decorative ribbons and tassles at the end. We did find similar chocolates in the bins by the meats and cheese. Those chocolates were good not as good as French or Belgium chocolates but its as close as we're going to find in the Boise area. We have not purchased any other items but perhaps when my Mom is back in March, we'll purchase some Mortadella for her to try. If you're looking for Eastern European grocery items, then this location is for you.

Yesterday, we experienced another unpleasant situation with the quality of food prepared in the…read morestore. We purchased fish that appeared to be leftover from the end of the day. The employee who served us stated that it had been prepared that day and identified it as flounder. When we returned home, we shared the fish with our entire family, including a child. We ate only about one-third of it. By the next morning, everyone became ill, experiencing fever, chills, bloating, and diarrhea. We could not eat anything the following day except water and bananas. This was a very unpleasant experience, and we are concerned that the fish may have been expired, improperly stored, or undercooked. Upon closer inspection, the actual piece of fish appeared to be very small, while most of the surrounding coating had a grayish color and a spongy, sticky, and undercooked texture. It almost seemed as though additional filler had been used to increase the product's weight. The taste was not fresh at all, and it had an odor similar to an old fish tank. The fish seemed old and may have been stored in the freezer for an extended period of time. The surrounding substance resembled soggy breading or undercooked batter. Overall, something seemed very wrong with the product. Customers should be especially cautious when purchasing this type of food for their children. We had to throw the food away, resulting in a complete waste of money. This situation appears to have been caused by poor judgment or unprofessional handling of the product, which is very disappointing from a customer standpoint.

Update: The…read moremanager(s) are doing what they can to make this right. That alone earns stars back as they didn't just ignore me. They no longer process "bone in" cuts for cow shares, and admitted I should have been told of all of this. They also apologized for the roasts/hunks of meat disguised as roasts, and again- are willing to try and make it right. They've earned my respect for that alone. I'm leaving my original review up only for educational purposes. ****** Ordered 1/2 a cow from a farm that uses this company as their butcher. I had simple requests- bone in steaks, roasts instead of stew meat/ground beef and canoe cut bones (one extra horizontal cut) for My dog. More than half the "roasts" appear to be chunks of mismatched beef shoved into webbed bags (which give the beef an off taste when cooked) leaving me with chunks instead of roasts to smoke. The steaks- all boneless (I can live with this if if was the only mistake) The bones- not even attempted to do as asked. If it had just been that and the steaks- I could have dealt. But the roast issue? Pretty not ok. I spent way too much on this beef for this to happen. If you messed up- and didn't follow my request- why not communicate ahead of time. I now have to find a new vendor for beef next year because I'm not sure I want to deal with this again.

Very clean retail outlet with friendly staff. Much like Hoagland meats was a year ago before they sold out to Reno meats. Basically the shit they eat on Fallout. Higher prices and terrible quality from Nevada feedlots.
