Stopped in for lunch on a Friday. Not busy at all. Cute Mexican market with a great variety of grocery items, meat, and food to order. There are a handful of tables to eat there or they offer to-go. Hubby got a burrito with asada and I got a torta with carnitas. The carnitas was by far the stand out of the entire meal. We agreed we'd be back just for that. But both our meals were good. The salsas they brought to the tables with our order were also great! Friendly staff, clean tables and store. It's a little cramped with the groceries, but not too bad. I skipped the market, though the meats looked very good and fresh. I went to the restaurant part. No one spoke much English there. That was fine because I looked at the menu and knew what I wanted. The combination platter with a chili relleno and beef taco. It came with rice and beans. The sauce on top was different than I've had before. Bits of chunky tomato and a more spicy flavor. I couldn't tell if I liked it. The relleno underneath was tasty; lots of cheese and a nice egg batter. Beans were ok, rice crunchy like it was made much earlier in the day. The chips tasted re-heated while the thin salsa was good, but too runny. Unfortunately, nothing too memorable. This may be more authentic than most Mexican restaurants in the Boise area, but not really for me. Server tried hard but seemed like she was getting ready to go home. And a communication gap. This is in the corner of a (clean) grocery store so not much ambiance. Next time I'd buy a slab of their carne asada from the butcher shop and fresh tortillas. And check out the veggies. So I got a lot to unpack here! I've been reading a lot of reviews after a friend suggested this market because I often cook Mexican. Some of the reviews were scary bad. Some really good. I read "best food ever". All of the way to worms in my food and how bad one guy got yelled at by the butcher for asking about the difference in some of the meats. Oh boy, todays the day!! Weird that I might've been a little uneasy walking in.... probably...not really .. Anyway, my middle child had some extra time because a class got canceled and I enlisted her for lunch and a look through the market. The market was not huge and I saw no wasted space. We did a, once around then headed to the back of the store where the kitchen and the butcher counter was. After figuring out the menu we stepped up to order. Knowing that even through the language barrier we nailed it. Except maybe "do rice and beans come with that quesadilla" or "yes you can buy rice and beans too"?? Luckily I was with someone easy to talk to because the food took a while. Not that it dominated the conversation but we talked about some of the reviews I read then the conversation shifted to how this market was reminiscent of the Italian family markets that we enjoyed so much when we lived in Pittsburgh. The food pictures should speak for themselves but It was really good. Mel had the Carne asada plate and I got a chicken quesadilla. We stopped by the butcher on the way out for some chorizo. Except for being a little too salty, it is excellent food. Hubby was over in Nampa and stopped in to bring me some home. Adobado tacos, rice and beans. 2 small soft tacos, some rice and beans. Perfect for me. Don't know if the too salty came from the green or red sauce or the food itself. I like green on my pork and chant red on beans, rice and beef. For $8.00. Can't beat it. Food is good but the owner is mean and disrespectful the place smells really bad the owner tried to charge me for a drink i had with me they were a couple people and they were drinking but as soon as they left he called the cops on them I get drinking and driving is NOT OK but he shouldn't have sell them that much alcohol read more

BUYER BEWARE. MEAT PRICES ARE HIDDEN SO STORE OWNERS CAN QUOTE WHATEVER PRICE THEY WANT. Was visiting from California and needed some carne asada for a family BBQ. I bought the Ranchera Preparada. WAY OVERPRICED at $12.59 a pound and to add insult to injury it was not very good for such a high price. I was really disappointed that the meat was so expensive and not very tasty. The store owners have also covered all the display pricing so they basically can change the price to whatever they want. Buy at your own risk. The people were nice and polite but the prices just ain't right. read more

Best tacos i have had in Caldwell and only $1 each. This is a small Mexican market with a good variety of Mexican products and a little restaurant inside. The cooked food is priced modestly but the grocery stuff is all expensive. I am all for supporting small businesses but these prices are driving me away. They have great food, but I am so frustrated showing up during business hours and seeing the taqueria closed for the day. My last 5/6 attempts to get tacos here has failed due to being randomly closed. I went in between 5 and 8 pm each attempt... I have also been given the incorrect meats on food that I order, but it still tasted ok. It is also not uncommon to get an incorrect amount of what I order. Very few workers speak English, and I am not the greatest with my Spanish, so sometimes I believe there are some translations errors. The store has recently become more Unorganized with most of the isles being packed with boxes of product. The last time I went in I was asked what I wanted to order and I asked if they had any menudo. The person along my order mumbled something and then took down 3 other orders from other Spanish speaking customers and completely forgot I was wanting to order something I guess? Love it. We go here for tacos all the time. So authentic. Since we came here we've been looking for good tacos. None of the food trucks can match these tacos. We always get a bucket of guac and bag of chips to eat with them. Way to go Campos!!! read more

This restaurant has authentic tacos and burritos at very low prices. It is very clean and has lots of selections for mexican groceries you can not get in America. I was born in San Catarina and lived in Guadalajara most of my life and this food is as good as I used to get there. They have carnitas, asada, cabeza, al pastor, and lengua. They make their tortillas, rice and beans fresh and their produce is always fresh. I eat here all the time with my friends. read more

On November 14, 2015, I waked into this store for the first time with my 8 and 11 year old children at the recommendation of my mother. We went directly to the meat counter and immediately noticed two females eating while they were preparing food. I ignored it and proceeded to select the meat and cheese products. After getting the selected items, we walked to the candy aisle where my kids told me they thought it was disgusting the ladies were eating while preparing food. I explained to them that it was unsanitary and inappropriate and we laughed it off. The cashier, a teenager who apparently is the owner's daughter, overheard our conversation and went and told the lady we had called her a paisa. As I turned to go to the cash register a lady was blocking my way so I asked her if she needed something, She angrily asked me twice if I spoke Spanish. I told her I did. She then began yelling at me and accusing me of calling her a paisa. I informed her I had no idea what the word meant, and that I had simply told my children that them eating while preparing food was unsanitary and inappropriate. She continued accusing me of being racist, yelling at me and kept throwing her hands up in wanting to fight me in front of my children. I informed her I had come to buy items, not to argue and asked for the owner. She stated she was the owner and when I asked for her name, she angrily asked why and what is your name. I told her I was done talking with her and she finally walked away. I then proceeded to leave the meat and cheese on the counter by the cash register and told my kids we were going elsewhere. I attempted to resolve this with the main owner a few days later by phone, apparently her husband, who also yelled at me and told me his wife and daughter were justified in their behavior. My kids and I will never walk into this store again. We were attacked and treated very inappropriately and are quite frankly disgusted with their lack of manners. I and some friends looked up the work paisano to discover it simply means native, such as a Mexican cowboy. I learned something new, set a positive example for my children, and taught them how to deal with difficult and uneducated individuals who are not happy with their lives. read more
