The pricing they advertise for services is not accurate. Winterization was over 20 percent higher not including parts.

We purchased a travel trailer in 2021. It was never properly set up for delivery, we took it back for a water leak multiple times. The first summer we had it the trailer spent more time at CW than at our house or camping. We were able to use it once that summer. To top it off we are currently looking for a different trailer and find out we were grossly overcharged for this piston trailer and on top of it the other dealers we have talked to said that they would never use the bank that CW used to finance our trailer. I looked the bank up and the best rating I could find was1.08 out of 5. We were stupid to purchase from them. Never again. Not even for accessories and parts. I'll drive a little to someplace more reliable and honest. read more

Attending the Camping World Camper Show in Minneapolis; we found a camper we wanted. After signing paperwork, we were told the printer wasn't working, and we couldn't get a copy until the following week. The advertised price was $26,999, but things quickly went downhill. Working with Brent and Zach from the Monticello, MN Camping World location, we were informed that we owed over $20,000. This was incorrect since we had a $10,000 trade-in and $4,000 down payment. $26,999 - $10,000-$4,000 = $12,999 + tax. Arriving for the walk-through, the price became $33,499. We did not agree to this cost as correct. I had taken pictures at the show, for proof. Brett didn't seem to have answers and continued to look for our paperwork from the show...then, it mysteriously surfaced. After Brett's much shuffling of the paperwork, he added in a service agreement for $3,600, which was originally included; but not anymore. To make matters worse, we were misled about the loan term being 60 months, but it turned out to be 17 years! The numbers also didn't add up; and further reviewing the paperwork, we realized the taxes were based on the incorrect amount of $33,499. After reporting this mess in more detail to the Camping World headquarters; the original loan was scrapped and we were allowed to go through our own bank, without the extra unknown "fluff." BUYER BEWARE, efforts are made to finagle you to sign over to Camping World a POWER OF ATTORNEY. Overall, a stressful and frustrating experience with misleading prices and terms. We do not recommend Camping World. Camping World has a "F" rating on BBB and have several negative reviews on TikTok. read more

They wanted to add on an addition $1495 "set-up fee" on a used camper that was only $7500. That's a 20% increase in price. NOPE, I'm not dealing with a business that makes money by gouging its customers with made up fees. read more

if I could i would give them a big fat zero. we opted out of a camper purchase we put a 1000k down it's been 2 weeks and yet to see our refund, they actually took out another 1000k out of our account by "accident" . Why we opted out of the purchase is we were quoted a payment when time to sign papers it was 300$ more a month . Needless to say it was a horrible experience. Good luck, especially if you want them to pay for it. Definitely don't buy a Heartland. You're just wasting your money. You will be buying a Lemon. Horrible Experience!!! I went in to Camping World on the 4th of July and purchased an RV. They took several hours before I could tour the RV, despite me asking to see it. They said they were getting it brought in and inspected. We had only seen it from the online add we responded to. It was our first RV purchase and finally got to see it in the showroom and quick walk through of features etc. The Tech had a hard time getting the generator working and said it was because he had it flooded from running for an hour. They got it working so I made the mistake trusting what they said and that it was a one off. I drove it home we loaded it up for a family weekend up north. I started the generator to run the AC after several attempts to do so. On the way up the radio and screen went blank 15 miles into it. 15-20 min later the alarms started going off and we shut off the AC and generator and the alarms stopped. As it heated up in there with my family and only cab AC, they began talking about smell of urine and stench. They climbed into bunk over the cab and found mouse poop and urine under mattresses. And started looking in other places and found more. Started getting more stench from the drains. One of the cabinet doors would not stay latched. We stayed a couple days living with the various issues spending as little time in it as possible. We came home days early and contacted Camping World via phone, text and email. The service department finally called on Monday afternoon and said they were going to come pick it up to fix things. When we told them that were not interested in keeping it and intended to return it he said he would get back to us. No other contact from them has come, they didn't pick it up, haven't called or offered any solutions. read more

One of the worst experiences I have had, we bought a camper from them online and had them transport it closer. We were assured and payed for it to get a new battery and propane filled along with being cleaned. When we stepped inside there was bugs broken pieces and missing safety equipment. It showed up to a different camping world in horrendous shape being left to the great management at the Fargo camping world. Steven and his crew did a great job getting us on the road. If you have the choice go to Fargo Camping world don't even deal with these jokers at forest lake camping world. Will not to business with them again. read more

We bought a camping trailer and 3 weeks later still had not gotten the new license plates and title. Called Camping World several times and got big runarounds. We went to DMV office and title and license was still in previous owners name. Paperwork had not been done. Went to Camping World and spoke with manager, Dan. He was able to take care of everything and told us we would have new license plate and title in a couple of days. We were able to discuss our concerns and how we felt we got the run around getting answers. He told us this will be addressed at the next staff meeting. Dan also gave us his direct contact numbers and told us to hesitate to call him. Would have given Camping World a 5 star if it hadn't been such a mess trying to handle over the phone. We walked out feeling better about Camping World in general. read more

Do not recommend doing business with them. They are scammers. They are not up front on pricing First of all. They lied about the interest rates, they try and pressure you into their warranty coverage, They charge you $1,495.00 for service to go thru the campers to make sure they are "ready" to go. This is farthest from the truth. We picked up our camper drove 6 hrs to our place and found nothing but problems. Water heater was bad, pouring water out the back, the line for the furnace were capped off, lines for the propane were not hooked up, can't run the water heater on electric, it's broke, could go on and on. Called and was supposed to get a call back and nothing, called on multiple occasions and no one would return our call. They are scammers and would NEVER recommend to anyone. read more

We bought a a Camper at the Camping show in February. Mike was a great sale man. After that it went down hill. The deception started with the finance people immediately. They changed our down payment 3 times with no explanation. They state the options that were included we found out a week later were not in the tune of $15,000 of extras added on after the fact. When we asked for the final paperwork they stated that we would get our final paperwork the following Thursday and we would have time to go over all of it and it would all be explained at that time. On Thursday they gave us the packet and said thank you know body was available to go over it at that time. On Friday I went in to find someone to go over the paperwork and explain what was wrong and they stated that it would all be corrected. Since then it has been 1 lie after another with no refunds or no call backs no response to my emails. We cannot even get our camper that supposedly we bought. Have has started making payments because the bank has started sending statements. No response from this company. Just excuses or no one is available. read more

We were not impressed with the checkout process for the store. We found something on the shelf, went to pay and there were no cashiers in the area. We had to have the receptionist page someone to check us out. The person that arrived got half way through the transaction and picked up a phone and started going into some long explanation on why she couldn't find something. She pointed to the credit card reader and receipt when it prompted and later printed. No thank you for shopping with us, or acknowledgement at all. We purchased a $150,000.00 motorcoach from this business and it was the worst money we ever spent. Gander RV never took the time to inspect the coach of simple defects and the coach flooded the first time it was hooked up to water. Since then it has been a eight month disaster dealing with a poor dealership and a factory not willing to make it right. If your going to spend $150,000.00 like we did please pick a better dealership than Gander RV. Pick a dealership that cares about thier customers. read more

I went to check out the store in Forest Lake with my son. We each had a $25 off any purchase coupon. They would not honor the coupon from both of us because they said it was "one per household". The coupon clearly says "one per customer". I asked for the manager on duty. She was a smug, rude lady, who has zero customer service skills. She said they changed the rules to one per household and they would not honor the coupon in my hand that said one per customer. Also, there is a big banner over the front door that's says, "Live Bait". Their Live bait selection consisted of Angle Worms, that's it. Not even night crawlers. No minnows. What a joke. In summary, Gander Outdoors does not honor their deals, they hire rude employees, advertise something they don't have, and the store was all torn up under construction. Hmmmm, I wonder why they have to pay people $25 to come into their store. We drove a few miles down the road to fleet farm and I dropped over $300 on gear. Frustrated as bad as it gets. I bought a new passport over 2 years ago. Had to bring it in many times, at least 10 times. I bought as much insurance and everything I could get so I would have no issues. I have yet to have my issue fixed the first time. Employee turn over is very bad training doesn't seem to happen. First issue, recliner broke...took over a year to fix I took it out the first time they never put it back together. I got to my destination spot and everything was all over upsidedown. Next I bought tire and rim insurance, $1000. It took 15 months to get some money back not everything I paid. I did everything they asked, dotted every I and crossed every T. No one wanted to pay. Regulator worked on and off, they wouldn't do anything so I had to buy my own. I fixed on my own many little things they don't have staff to get you in within a few days always takes weeks an once in it takes two to three weeks. Last fall the furnace wasn't working, they said they fixed it. I went out camping in northern Minnesota. Didn't work, so I just had it fixed again paid my $50.00 deductible again...hope it works this time. My wanted holding tank cracked brought it in to have it fixed, they said nothing was wrong, well it still leaks as bad as ever, I'm leaving for two weeks again with not being able to use my water, they filled the tank with water but when I tried to use the pump water all over. Oh they also some what fixed the recliner after four attempts they put in one screw in each recliner, moves all over yet. This is not just one camping world I have been to many as I travel all over the country. I am a landscape photographer and this is my home. If you can find a better RV place to go I would advise. Maybe they all are like this, I don't know. If you choose to buy a new one expect to fix it on your own. Don't expect any quality done, they have NO quality control.....get it in as quick as possible and get it back out, bring in the next one. I am really kicking myself for buying from them. Also with communication, good luck....I have kept calling and they say they will get back....yeah right...it is up to you to keep calling them and hope to talk to the person working on your unit. Many more issues but I have gone on long enough, so I'm out on my next trip for two weeks with no water....how fun. We purchased a 2021 new RV from this location and as much as we love the trailer, the service sucks. We were promised things from the staff and management, yet it seems that after we signed the paperwork they don't care about us or our problems. Problems being the sink has a leak (they are sending someone out June 1st - a month after delivery). It was delivered without our screen door (not sure if they are getting it to us because they don't know either). They told us they were going to deliver our trailer but those plans fell through the cracks until we went in and asked for answers. Now just have to wait see what our next problem is read more

Walked in on Thursday to look at a couple guns. I waited by the counter for someone to wander by and help me. Two employees walked toward me from the opposite end, looked at me, then went through a door into the back room. I figured maybe they didn't work in guns and were getting someone. 5 minutes later nothing so I left. Told the cashier on the way out I wanted to buy a rifle, but sine they obviously didn't want the sale, I was going down the road to Bill's in Circle Pines. His response was "Oh, sorry about that". Not, "Can I get someone to help you". And no, he wasn't busy ringing people up. All this while there were no less that 6 employees working on things around the new campers that are now in store. I watched 2 guys walk over to the campers and each had 2 employees go over to help them. It's pretty evident that someone shopping for a camper is their preferred customer and those looking for anything else are on their own. Which, for guns, makes it a bit tough as you aren't allowed behind the counter. If you just want to go in, grab something off a rack, OK. If you need any help, and you're not there to get a camper, don't bother. read more

We purchased a new, large travel trailer from Gander on Labor Day weekend. A week later, we went back to do our "walk thru" and just two of the issues we addressed at the time of the sale had been taken care of. The unit has a broken recliner sofa, no legs for the table, a broken entry handle and missing remotes. We assumed when we scheduled the walk thru these would have been addressed, but they were not and the service and sales people all just kind of shrugged and said they were waiting on parts. It is now 6 weeks later and, while our payments are due, we have yet to receive the keys to our trailer or any access to it (it is locked in their storage lot). We have had just one conversation with our salesperson on when to expect the issues will be addressed and we will have a useable unit and it came after a response to our call to see about the progress. His answer was: "It's raining right now and so I will call you when I can go out and look at the trailer." (No paperwork to look at?) When he returned our call, he said that it would be maybe 2-3 weeks. That was 3 weeks ago. It is obvious no one is following up on these fixes, and we are left with a monthly payment and no trailer. (Although our salesperson told us we were welcome to take it... with no table and nowhere to sit and no remotes.) Meanwhile, our plans to test it out on nearby camping spots before we hit the road for a long-haul trip are gone as winter is almost here and the campgrounds have shut off water and other services. We would not recommend Gander RV to anyone -- and we haven't even gotten our trailer yet. Terrible sales department -- heavy handed and less than honorable. Can't wait until we get to deal with our first service issue. read more

Please save yourself the pain and agony of trying to deal with this outfit in Forest Lakes regarding RV sales, service, and most importantly "customer service" No one there cares. at all. they do care about the sale but once that is completed you are on your own. numerous calls over a 4 month period and no one cares. thank goodness we purchased a warranty so that will cover all of the costs repair on brand new RV. Was underwhelmed by the inventory for camper accessories. Was also not pleased with the assistance by the customer service/parts employees. Was standing in line (no one in front of us) and they literally whispered to each other about who had to help us. Seems like a lot of RV options but will be doing my shopping online for camping and camper supplies I guess. Update: thanks for the reply. My husband and are traveling to Detroit Lakes, MN from North Carolina. Our hot water heater stopped working. We stopped in to see if someone could help us. We received the best service. Brandon from service parts first assisted with the part that we thought we needed. However it didn't fix it. Ryan came out to try to help as well. When he couldn't figure it out he sent Wade from the service department to help. Wade saved the day and our vacation. My husband and I are Customer Support managers so we understand what it means to have satisfied customers. With the efforts of Brandon, Ryan and Wade we are able to enjoy the rest of our vacation. It's not a top shelf gun store anymore people. It's now Gander Outdoors with different options, people and departments. They have come a long way in the last year. Fishing department is well stocked for every season. Decent amount of options in all others plus the boating options through overtons are great. If your looking for the old Gander Mountain it's gone this Gander outdoors is nice, clean and full of options. read more
