I have eaten here countless times and the food and service has always been good. But this time the service was bad. It wasn't crowded at all and the service was very slow. I've been here when it's been super crowded and the service was fantastic so I was surprised when it was slow the service was bad. Visiting Buckley and came to Campestre. Ambiance was nice and staff friendly, & service fast. Living in California, Texas & Arizona I have to give the food 2 stars. Cheese enchiladas were ok. Salsa chunky not much kick and then they brought some kind of mayo sauce for the chips, yuk. Chips were warm. read more

Very nice restaurant - good food - friendly staff - good price This restaurant is right off the West Virginia Turnpike and WV 3 on the southeast corner of the intersection. There is a large parking lot that covers three sides of the restaurant. It appears that this location has a drive-through if you don't want to dine in. The outside and inside of the restaurant are absolutely beautiful. We were staying at a nearby hotel and this place was recommended to us. We walked in and were seated immediately. The restaurant has a bar as soon as you enter the front door. Most of the tables appeared to be booths. We were in a booth across from the bar. The booths are large and the seats are comfortable. The waiter was very pleasant and delivered chips and salsa and took our drink order. We ordered the 3 tacos. We also ordered churros for dessert. Both the dinner and the churro came out quickly, were delicious, and were all presented very well. The waiter was very pleasant and the price was reasonable for the food, staff, speed, and ambiance. The good: margaritas were awesome The dish inside the pineapple was great. The text queue for awaiting seating was great too. Waiting they kept us spaced apart and asked people to wear masks. This was close to my hotel. After driving for hours to get to this area i wanted to grab my first meal of the day. The restaurant seems fairly new, the inside in neatly decorated and the bar area is nice made out of stone. Tremendous visit. I always saw this place as it was being built and said that it would be another typical Beckley restaurant... I was wrong. The interior looks like a high end restaurant, something that should have high prices but they are very reasonable. The food was served quickly and the staff was very friendly. We were passing through town and made a stop over in a nearby hotel. It was rather late and Campestre was open later than other restaurants in the area. We placed a carry out order. Pick up was on time. Food was solid, not fabulous, but reasonably priced and decent for carry out. We had super burrito, and enchiladas supreme. Both were good. . We stopped here on our way home from a vacation because we were staying the night in Beckley. The COVID 19 precautions made us feel safe. They had their menu on a qr code on the table. The servers were all wearing masks and people were seated at every other table. We had the regular queso with the salsa and the white ranch like salsa. The chips were crispy and fresh. I went here for lunch and it was very tasty. When I visited, I had the fish tacos. I was a little concerned that the entree only comes with two tacos but they use a whole grilled fish filet in each taco and about 1/4 of an avocado. Even though I finished my meal, my co-worker ended up simply eating the fish in the taco because she was so full. I was pleased with my choice. The only odd thing about was that the meal came with a very generic side salad that did not feel very Mexican at all. The service was good and the ambiance is nice. This place feels like a Mexican restaurant. When you eat in you get chips with salsa and some ranch flavored sauce. I will be back and I may even be adventurous enough to try the pineapple dish that looks so photogenic. read more

After three attempts we finally found a business open for business. Had a real good idea where it was having been up and down the main drag a few times already. Walked in and was greeted and seated and chipped in short order; salsa has little texture, flavor or warmth, the cream stuff has better flavor. Asked for waters while navigating the menus and we opted for Papas con Chorizo (like mexican poutine) for starters and Fajitas Rocas for dinner. Service was fast and the help was polite. The papas consisted of waffle fries with queso and chorizo. Interesting taste combination but could have used a little bottled heat. Dinner salad came out shortly and it was alright; lettuces, cukes, tomatoes, carrots... and came with a packet of ranch. The fajita was uninspired: decent mix of steak-chicken-shrimp, peppers, onions and stuff accompanied by a pale, bland plate of rice with matching beans. Tortillas were warm, soft, and moist; house margaritas were cold, salted, and wet. Some days good enough is good enough. read more

Took me a couple passes before I could find the right drive in the dark fog. Sat at the bar for a good 5 minutes before anyone checked on me. I was the only one in there so you couldn't miss me. Food was alright. Taco salad had way too much sour cream! Almost couldn't eat it. Chips were good. Salsa was too. Wasn't impressed with the ranch dip. read more

Every now and then, while traveling, you find a treasure. This is one of those treasures. We decided to give it a try based on a recommendation from our hotel. We could not have been more pleased. Seriously, if you eat at one Mexican restaurant, you have eaten at most. The differences typically aren't great. THIS is the exception. We sat at the bar, so were fortunate enough to receive fabulous, friendly service. Speaking of the bar, the margaritas were terrific. The dinner starts with chips and salsa, with a unique white "salsa" or dip that was terrific. My wife had a beef taco salad. She said everything was fresh and full of flavor. She was very happy. I ordered the Pollo Yucatán. I will say here, this was probably the best dish I have ever had at a Mexican restaurant, anywhere. I grew up in Southern California, have travelled extensively, including Mexico, and this was the best. The spices and flavors were second to none. My only observation that I would change is the atmosphere of the restaurant. I wish it was a little more designed for adults, with better lighting and ambience. It is more designed for family dining, which is fine, and I'm sure that works for them. But I wish they would open one in my town with an adult atmosphere. I am only sorry we will likely not be in Beckley again, but for those who are, don't miss this restaurant. read more

Campestre is located in Beckley near I-77. The food and service are excellent. We have never had a bad, or even "just acceptable" meal. The food is served hot and fresh, and drink refills are brought to the table quickly. The only areas where improvement is needed are the dusty blinds and windows (including the dead bugs!!). read more

Came in here during a road trip with my friends to snag some dinner. We really loved how quick and easy the service was. We were sat immediately and then only had to wait about 15-20 min for our food to come. They give you free chips and Salsa and we loved that. The price is right for the food. Uh-oh, Jose! I'm downgrading this restaurant from my previous four stars to one. The young man who brought us water and chips could only grunt. I suppose grunting is universal, but it doesn't qualify him as bilingual. And then he set the drinks on the outer edge of the table next to my arm; You know, the one reaching for the chips. He was not well-trained. My wife had a taco and enchiladas; I had the taco salad. I suspect they purchase their meat already ground, and that the processor uses a mechanical device to remove the meat from the bone. Why? Because all the beef had bone chips in it. It was unnerving because the first one you bit into, you hoped it wasn't your own tooth. There was some relief in biting into the remainder of the bone chips because you realized that you weren't biting into your own body parts. My taco salad was, uh, well....more like meat and lettuce soup....except, of course, for those little bone chips. What would you call those in a salad? Mexican croutons? Anyway... the shell dissolved and became part of the soupy mess. What a disappointment it was from our previous visit. We thought we had found a gem. Oh, and one more thing: Nobody asked us how our dinner was. They brought us our ticket and vanished...vamoosed. Went here last night because I was going stir crazy being inside..mask in tow! Everyone there had theirs on and social distancing as well..well on to the food part of the review..my friend had the build your own of 3 choices and picked the beef burritos and beans and rice..she said it was excellent with big portions..I had 2 steak quesadillas with jalapeño and sour cream and paid about 14 for them which is kinda high compared to other Mexican joints in town..service was very good and prompt and cheese dip was a very small portion for 5...but it's close by and my friend seems to love going there so I guess I will tag along in the future. read more
