READ THIS - don't get married here, don't work here, dont send your kids here, don't live here for a summer. It is unfortunate I am writing this because the mission of Camp Wing and crossroads as a nonprofit is a good one but the mistreatment and unprofessional in the workplace they allow is not a cause worth supporting. It is 20K to have a wedding here and it could not be less worth it just for the price point alone. There is nothing special about this venue and there are many that look the same if not better for less money. Is a longtime member of the Duxbury community I feel it is important to have it be known what has happened to this place. I know many people that have worked here and have been a part of this Camp short and long term. I am even someone who sent my kids here for years but there has been disturbing things I have learned about this place. The cabins in which the overnight counselors sleep in are cramped, filthy, and uncomfortable. The food they feed to the counselors from the dining hall is absolutely awful and left multiple sick from not eating. There are many allegations from day camp employees about the unprofessionalism as many of the directors and coordinators of the day camp. I know multiple kids in the community that have worked here and said no one they worked with that summer was planning on returning the next summer either because of how awful their bosses were. When I sent my kids to this camp, it was a community and now it has been ruined. I know there has been a recent turnover in the past couple of years of a lot of positions at this camp, but it is unfortunate to see what they have done to a once great place. read more

Camp wing Duxbury was a great experience for those who are generation alpha or generation z. The facilities are updated and considering past camps I have visited are much more updated. There are possibilities to live as a permanent home at the camp site if there was a theoretical zombie apocalypse. The size and capacities of the areas are good for groups of individuals. The only change would be to the living spaces as they are quite crammed compared to the size of the buildings and area. Also having a security gate and fencing would be a great addition. As when I stayed there was a bear on the loose and there is no gate really to stop it. read more

I looked at this place as a wedding venue. We didn't book there, but overall thought that they were a great place and would be a good choice for a lot of couples. Ceremony area: A couple of options here-- our favorite was the "circle in the round," an area in the woods with benches set in a circle. Very beautiful. There are also an option for looking out at the lake. Reception: The main reception area is in a lodge that is kind of dark, but has lots of possibilities for decorating. I recall them saying that for a Saturday wedding you could even get in there Friday afternoon, so that's awesome. the building can easily hold 300 people. It has a full kitchen and a single stall bathroom. Lodging: The price of the wedding includes lodging options, and there are a LOT of choices, ranging from the ultra rustic of cabins to the slightly less rustic stockades to the clean and simple infirmary. No linens included, but you could easily house all your friends and family at the camp site. Other random things: There are lots of cool camp activities that you can opt into (for a bit extra fee), including dragon boats, swimming, a rock wall, archery, high wires etc. Overall: The folks here were really nice, the price was reasonable ($2500 -- although that only includes up to 100 guests), and the location is beautiful. read more

I grew up dreaming of getting married at Camp Kiwanee in my hometown. We'd held birthdays there, I learned to swim, I went to my first dance there. But by the time we were engaged and looking for venues, Camp Kiwanee had become what I can only describe as a wedding factory. They had strict rules and regulations on what you were able to do -- and it didn't seem so fun anymore. Enter Camp Wing. A place where you can -- gasp!-- use candles! Light bonfires! Bring in your own alcohol! Party as late as you want because there's no one around to hear you scream with laughter! As soon as we visited the site, we knew this was the only place we'd be going to see. It was a blank canvas that was excited to see what we could make of the space, and would let us have a wedding that reflected us, not the standard "This is what a camp wedding looks like." For one thing, the venue coordinator, Will, inspires endless confidence and is nothing but a pleasure to work with. He is on top of everything and will work with you to make sure you are aware of the limitations of the site and its full possibilities. By the end of our wedding weekend, every single person who worked directly with him was a little bit in love. Aside from that, the place is gorgeous. We were shown more than three perfect ceremony spots (opting for the indoor barn because I don't like backup plans). We were able to deck out the hall to be precisely what we wanted. They brought in long tables, set up the chairs exactly as we wanted, and essentially made things as easy as they possibly could. Having the whole place from 5 PM Friday was a godsend. Our wedding guests all ate pizza in the stockade and then rolled up their sleeves, tramped through the rain back to the reception space, and hung bunting until midnight. Saturday morning, my husband and I woke up, drove to pick up the cupcakes and the continental breakfast for our overnight guests, then joined everyone for danish and archery before I retreated with the bridesmaids to the Union House. (Oh... you need the Union House.) There we drank mimosas, I showered, we ate lunch and laughed. Then I got ready, with our photographer there to capture not only my joy, but the beautiful space and waterfront views. It rained, by the way, until half an hour before the ceremony. (We also had a second hour of archery that afternoon for guests who arrived Saturday.) During cocktail hour, our friends and family played lawn games like cornhole and bocce, our flowergirl played basketball with our officiant (her father), and Island Creek Oysters made sure the raw bar kept everyone full. That we did not need a separate bartender meant we could serve only beer we loved -- Founders and cheap wine, plus a caramel apple cider vodka drink. The afterparty happened earlier than expected and Will set up the fire pit for our smores. The bridal party and their partners trudged through the woods afterward to get back to the union house, where we drank one last glass of champagne, joked about the ceremony, and slept well in comfortable beds. Also, if you do have alcohol or leftover barbecue, Will accepts good beer. Just, please do not leave it behind because they have young employees and it's better to not leave that out. read more

We reserved the camp for the entire weekend and had a blast from the minute we got there until we left on Sunday. Will and his staff were there for all our needs and then some. I rented the Union House for the weekend as well and it was a great place to stay the night before the wedding with all my girlfriends ( and a few special guys) and to use as a place on Saturday to get ready for the wedding. We got married at Camp Wing in 2015, and couldn't say better things about the experience. It was the unique, fun, adventurous, epic wedding we had imagined. The Camp Wing itself is beautiful, with a lake and tons of fun activities. We had over half of our 200+ guests stay in the cabins, and they all loved the experience of all being together for the entire weekend. We were able to transform all of the various spaces into a beautiful, rustic chic look. Will and the rest of the staff were an absolute pleasure to work with and helped us use all the various spaces in creative ways. His communication was excellent, and we felt in such great hands the entire time. The other incredible benefit of working with Camp Wing was that the proceeds from the wedding get reinvested in to the Camp's incredible mission of serving youth. For those of us who have slight hesitations with spending money on a wedding, this truly helped us feel like the experience was worth it. People continue to comment to us that our wedding was one of the most fun weekends they can remember, and it was certainly the best weekend of our lives. Our daughter and son-in-law were married at Camp Wing last September. We arrived Friday afternoon settled in and had a full weekend. College friends stayed in the stockade, the groom's family in a nice house on the lake. They had so many choices for the ceremony site and chose the perfect site for them, in the middle of the woods, at the camp ceremony ring. All the photos were beautiful! Summer camp weddings are more work than a more conventional wedding but everyone had a great time! Will Palmer was there the entire time and helped us when ever needed. I got married at Camp Wing in May 2015 and loved it as a wedding venue. Aside from the awesome outdoor set-up and beautiful natural accommodations of the camp, the venue as a wedding location was smooth and easy. The staff there were amazing to work with and did a lot of background work throughout the day that was was amazingly helpful and somehow super undercover. Will was was great to work with as the main contact for the wedding. He had everything set up for us just as we discussed and was one step ahead of us during the day. All of our wedding guests loved how our wedding used the indoor and outdoor spaces, and the site was great for families with kids. We also enjoyed having the site from Friday night through Sunday morning so that we could spend more time with our guests. We didn't have to rush into seeing and greeting everyone in only a few hours, and that made the weekend much more laid back for us. We got married in front of the pond, in a small wooded section, and it fit our 140 guests really nicely. The reception area that we used also fit our larger wedding size perfectly. We had a lot of our guests sleep in the Stockade area on camp which was amazingly fun and our guests appreciated the low-cost on-site accommodations. These bunk rooms have heat, electricity, and normal sized twin beds (not cot sized) for guests. It's also nice that the money that you are paying for the wedding goes to the non-profit Crossroads for Kids (http://www.crossroads4kids.org/). Overall the location was perfect and the staff were amazing, and our wedding was easy, fun, and beautiful. read more

Excellent "Relaxed" Wedding Venue We held a wedding celebration party here with almost 200 guests. The original plan was to hold it mainly outside with the fire pit blaring, but Mother Nature did not cooperate. :( Not to worry, we were easily able to move to plan B and hold the entire event inside. Plenty of room for seating, the caterers, and activities. Our guests all raved about how much they enjoyed the whole setting. The staff was extremely accommodating throughout the process. We can not say enough good things about Will Palmer and his whole team, the site was absolutely breath taking and his staff was so kind and helpful! They went above and beyond what was expected to make our day perfect. Our guest have been raving about the senery, the buildings, the camp activities, people just couldn't say enough!! They made sure everything was open and available to us and when there was a small issue they fixed it imediately! When it came to the wedding the forcast was grim and Will and his team jumped into action, sweaping out the barn and getting the benches in order. The next day when break down and clean up took us over the depature time he was understanding and helpful. He eased our minds and worked hard to make sure everything went smoothly, I can not thank him enough for everything he did for us down to the smallest details. read more

I can't say enough wonderful things about Camp Wing and Will! My husband and I got married there in September 2016, and Will and his staff were incredibly helpful every step of the way. From suggesting vendors to helping us plan accommodations/activities/timing, they were amazing. The venue itself is beautiful, offering a ton of options for the ceremony and fun activities throughout the day/weekend. Our friends and family had a great time! My only suggestion is to make sure friends who stay in the most "rustic" accommodation options know what they are getting into -- some loved it, but others probably should have opted for a hotel. At the end of our wedding weekend, Will and his staff were also super flexible. My husband and I realized we didn't have enough room in our car to take all of our supplies home, and the Camp agreed to hang onto them until after our honeymoon. Talk about above and beyond! The camp facilities easily accommodated their guests and the weekend activities they wanted, including highlights such as a bride v. groom softball game, as well as offering lovely settings for the ceremony and reception. Union House was the perfect venue for the bride's family, and also provided space to assemble gift bags and favors, as well as an air conditioned respite on a warm fall weekend. I saved the event manager's cell phone number in my phone, and, throughout the weekend, he responded to all of my texts with last-minute requests or minor trouble-shooting as soon as I pressed "send."
