The camp is gorgeous, especially in the fall as the trees start to turn. Weddings there are very DIY, so you'll have to get your own catering, beverages, etc. However, your guests can stay in the cabins overnight on-site which is very convenient and fun. We finished our reception with late-night bonfires. Justin and Stephanie, two camp employees, are super helpful as well. They handled our sound systems, helped clean up from the reception, and were overall wonderful to work with. Plus, your venue fee will go to get supplies for the boys' camp, which is a great cause.

The staff are always friendly, accepting and open. There is a Foundation that allows families that might not be able to afford this experience for their children, to be able to send their kids there. He got familiar with animals and barn duties in his first year, hiking for long treks (16 and 26 miles in the High Peaks of the Adirondacks!) in his second year, and bouldering in nature in his third, all the while making strong bonds with fellow campers and counselors. He looks forward to coming back as a counselor one year, and I couldn't be more excited for him. My 9 year old daughter had the opportunity of attending Firefly Song for her first time this year. She came home with wonderful memories of the camp community, and revealed in describing to us her daily routine -which included chores, Quaker inspired silent meetings and songs, and swimming in the lake every single day! She can't wait to keep going back.

The counselors are exceptionally well-trained, receiving a full week of preparation focused on safety, team-building, and camper connection before the kids even arrive. From counselors to campers to parents, everyone is welcomed like family. The camp places a strong emphasis on inclusion and encourages kids to step out of their comfort zones, try new things, and take pride in their accomplishments. We were initially nervous sending our daughter away for three weeks that first summer, but on her first phone call home, she BEGGED to stay the full six weeks. Camp has structure, but it's structure inside a framework that's different from home or school. At K&E, the kids have a safe space to grow in ways we didn't even realize were possible. Our daughter is creating lifelong friendships, learning the importance of teamwork, & having an absolute blast in the process--and for us, that's absolutely priceless.

Since new management took over, it has been declining in quality and losing traditions. My CT year was tough due to clashes with management (who asked our opinions as longtime campers then told us our opinions were irrelevant regardless and they didn't really care). My younger sister didn't go back this year after 5 years due to the changes being made - and she doesn't even remember the old owners! It's still a fantastic location and a great experience, with awesome counselors. However, it is getting more commercialized and losing the 100+ year old camp charm, and starting to feel more like a stereotypical summer camp. 5 stars: locations and counselors! 2 stars: commercialization 1 star: losing traditions, owners rude and not open to advice from longtime campers and alumnae :(
