Great Vermont Corn Maze

Although it was raining and we were the last people out because we were 3 minutes away from the end…read moreit was amazing. We were talking about Al's fries under one of the bridges that go over the corn, we called that bridge Al's fried to help us find our way. in the maze there is also a maze where you try to find stuff that glows inside. you collect these gems and get a prize if you turn them in. We met a staff member named Jeramy who was on Al's Fries, we called everyone who was on that bridge fries. Huge shoutout to Jeramy, made my maze day, he deserves a raise.

This was our third year going. We love it. It truly is massive and it has multiple bridges,…read morelookouts, a black light maze and letters and gems to collect along the way. The owner, Mike, designs and installs the field himself with his family and is often the one out in the maze available to give guidance or encouragement (or a reminder of how to take the emergency exits to the bathroom!) Tips: - pay attention to the hours. Entry isn't available all afternoon. - you will be hiking. It's on a hill in the sun. It always takes us at least three hours if you do the full maze and you'll be warm! Wear good shoes, cool clothes and sunscreen. - you can do the hour long scenic maze if you want to see all the things without having to figure out the maze and risk spending an hour going in circles ‍ - you cannot figure out this maze by going all right or all left. The design changes every year and it's impressively large with so many routes. Things to know: - maze is most difficult in August before the corn starts drying. Serious mazers go in August and September. October the corn is more see-through and there are lots of foliage tourists. - the hillbilly golf after the maze is a lot of fun. So silly

Fat Sheep Farm and Cabins

We had a truly lovely time staying at Fat Sheep Farm this summer. Our daughter is 100% in love with…read moreall the animals on the farm and our stay was excellent in so many ways. The cabin was well appointed, had some fancy soap and for the first time, we could use the provided shampoo (which was sulfate and paraben free) because our kiddos have curly hair. The kitchen was well equipped- coffee pretty good, appliances and pots and pans are in great condition. We also have a 2 plus year old and they were super nice in lending us a pack and play along with a mattress in it. I'm not sure about the odd experiences the other reviewer had because nothing of the same sort ever happened to us in the least. Todd and Suzy were super nice and helpful. Our kid loved doing farm chores every morning with Suzy. Both kids think she is the "best farmer" ever. She has an incredible amount of patience as she listened to their many farm related stories while we "helped" with farm chores. I say "helped" because the work was extremely light so don't worry about it. In terms of flexibility, they have been great. We had to move our booking because of the covid situation last year and they were incredibly helpful.

We rented all five cabins and barn for a wedding and with recommendations from Todd and Suzy the event was a total success. The cabins are well equipped with everything you need for your stay and the views a truly breathtaking, sitting on the patio looking across the valley. The hiking trails around the farm are nice and there was plenty to do around the local area during our four-night stay. The adults had a great time around the fire pit at night that Todd setup and the children had a great time during the day exploring, hiking and using the great play area. If you're looking for a relaxing getaway, I would highly recommend The Fat Sheep Farm.

New Moon Ranch

New Moon Ranch (NMR) is a very special place! I came to NMR over a year ago upon the recommendation…read moreof a friend who had been riding and taking instruction from Lotta. It was a life long dream of mine to learn how to horseback ride but for many years it was something that I never thought that I could do. After a conversation with Lotta followed by my first lesson, I began a path on the most rewarding endeavor. Lotta helped me to address any reservations and fears that I had right from the beginning. I appreciate Lotta's instruction because she helps me as the rider understand the horse's perspective and how to build a foundation of trust. Lotta has a gift for teaching. She is emphatic, has a great sense of humor, and also knows when a rider needs to be challenged to break through to the next level. As a beginning adult rider, NMR has offered me a place to examine and grow my self-confidence, communication, and leadership skills through the horse and rider relationship. More than a year later, I am still so excited about this new found passion of horseback riding and always enjoy my time there! I must also mention that NMR is located in the most beautiful setting that offers beautiful trails and a ring situated in a scenic valley alongside the Huntington River. Lotta and the rest of the NMR crew (Hollister and Clara) are always welcoming, kind, and together offer a wealth of knowledge. If you are looking for a down-to-earth and beautiful place to ride, definitely check out New Moon Ranch.
