WLC is a traditional summer camp. If you are looking for a camp for your son to become a soccer star, this isn't it. If you want a place for him to go to make friends, explore the outdoors, and be active, WLC is perfect. Each week campers signup for the morning classes of their choice. In the afternoons, they are given a "free swim" period when they can wander the camp and do whatever they want. From swimming to archery or rock climbing, there are dozens of options. The staff is a mix of longtime staff, former campers, and international staff. The international staff are a constant source of vibrancy, introducing the boys to rugby, cricket, and other culture. Former campers are allowed to grow into responsibility as staff. Longtime staff like Nat Crane and Scott "Goose" Giessler keep the traditions alive. This sums it up best: every time I'm in the area, I return to camp for a visit. When I do, I'm welcomed with open arms and a smile. It's great to be among friends and family sharing fond memories- which is what WLC is all about.

The memories and friends that I made at camp will certainly last a lifetime. The directors Ann and Nat have done everything possible to maintain the important traditions of CR, and you never have to worry that they will sell out to a big camping organization or that they will ever build a pool. The lake is the most important drawing point because it is the largest, most beautiful, and most pristine lake in all of New England. The camp wraps around the lake, and all of the property in use is along the waterfront. The grounds are impeccable, and the campers (but for a few bad apples) love and respect the camp, and its traditions, to the up most degree. The food is another important drawing factor. Gary, the chef, whose first summer was in 1958, still makes everything he can from scratch, and he is extremely talented. He is the only Black man, who can braid a challah better than any Jew on earth. Gary sparked my love for food 17 years ago, and now I'm an elite yelper all thanks to him. My mom says he is the reason she sent me here. This is an all-girls, uniform, camp. The campers are primarily, but not exclusively, Jewish. The staff is almost exclusively gentile, with the exception of returning camper counselors. The directors and administration are strict, and rule-breaking isn't tolerated, and is treated as a distraction to the overall camp experience (i.e. you'll get sent home for any serious infraction). However, as a camper, there was never any temptation to get into trouble. Even at 14 years old, boys, cigarettes, drinking, etc. were the absolute farthest things from our minds. In those years, we would never think of doing anything to jeopardize our Color War standings. Color War at Robindel is a 7 week event, with competition taking place every Sunday, and culminating with Sing in the final days of camp. The winners are determined after the Sing competition. Seriously, send your daughters here. It comes more highly recommended than Babbo or Ippudo.

The activities were awful and based toward younger kids. I can't begin to describe the pain i felt waking up everyday and spending time with everyone there. When we asked them to contact our parents, they straight up lied to us and told us that they did (when we got home we found out they didnt) when me and me friends were homesick they made absoloutey no effort to make us feel any better. I felt extremely uncomfortable at this camp, and even though i tried very hard to stay positive I would consider it the worst camp experience I have ever had. I had to tell myself things such as "just 12 more days and you'll be home" to just get through the day and keep from crying. The activities were absoutye no fun and it honestly felt like more of a work camp with all the chores they make you do. I would strongly suggest you never come here. OH also i didn't make one friend. One of t he two friends i went with left early because she hated it so much, and the camp refused to notify our parents. If you're looking for the truth about PVC, this is it.

For the amount of money families pay to attend this camp, the conditions and management were unacceptable. Campers are expected to clean bathrooms and help serve food, which is understandable in a camp environment, but the level of cleanliness was far below what should be considered acceptable. The senior bathroom had holes in the walls, an excessive amount of bugs, toilet paper constantly left on the floor, and visible stains on the toilets. I understand that this is an outdoor camp, but the amount of bugs and the lack of cleanliness was honestly unacceptable. During one week of the session, only 2 out of 6 showers in the senior bathroom were working, despite there being around 150 seniors using those facilities. The showers were either broken or flooding, and it seemed like nothing was done to properly fix the situation. The food service was also frustrating. When campers were assigned to serve food, the portions we were instructed to give were extremely small. It was disappointing to see campers being responsible for serving food while also feeling like people were not receiving reasonable portions. Another major concern was how serious situations involving camper safety were handled. During the session, there were allegations involving a counselor named Esme regarding inappropriate photos being taken in a cabin, ( taking pictures of naked girls.) While I understand rumors need to be investigated carefully, the reaction from staff was concerning. Multiple girls in the cabin were extremely upset, crying, and having panic attacks. The other counselor in the cabin was also reportedly distressed and wanted to contact her parents. Despite the seriousness of the situation, it appeared that proper steps were not taken immediately, such as a thorough investigation, and many campers were left feeling unsafe and unheard. There were also serious issues with how Cabin 3 was treated. A group of six girls from Cabin 3 were repeatedly targeted and given negative labels, including being called names like "Blood Clots" and "3 Jacks" by other campers. Cabin 1 and Cabin 2 reportedly made comments about Cabin 3, including calling them fat, and staff did not appear to properly address the bullying. However, when girls from Cabin 3 made mistakes, the consequences seemed extremely harsh compared to the situations. The group was made to sit in different areas around camp for six hours straight. One camper was reportedly made to sit alone in the woods, which felt excessive and inappropriate and neglectful. During this punishment, campers were not allowed to get their own food and had to have it brought to them. When one camper had chip bags near her, a staff member commented that it was "disgusting," which felt unnecessary and hurtful. There were also situations where campers were accused of being disrespectful or irresponsible when they genuinely could not hear instructions. For example, during waterfront activities, the group was yelled at for not listening, even though they explained they could not hear the staff member. Later, after attendance, the group was confronted and told, "I can't believe you did this. We have heard so much about this cabin. I tried giving you a second chance." Comments like this made it clear that staff had already formed opinions about these campers. What was most disappointing was seeing grown staff members discuss and criticize young campers in front of others. If there were problems with Cabin 3, those issues should have been handled privately and professionally instead of becoming something other campers knew about. It was embarrassing to see a camp that claims to create a safe community handle situations in a way that made certain campers feel targeted. Overall, this session was a very negative experience. The lack of cleanliness, poor communication, questionable handling of serious situations, and the way certain campers were treated need to be addressed. A camp that charges families a significant amount of money should be providing a safer, cleaner, and more supportive environment.

There was an outbreak of foot and mouth disease and parents were not notified of the outbreak and proper quarantine measures were not put in place. They let the kids who had it out after one night with the nurse and never told anyone. And then let these same kids that were exposed back on the many hours long bus ride back to Long Island. How totally irresponsible and stupid. Really, really terrible camp. Do better.

I seriously thought they must have been practicing for two months. The program venue is new and beautiful. Well managed location and I would definitely be back(even though I was passing through at a visitor). After the show the actors were on stage "for pictures", so it was fun to watch families celebrate with the children actors. This group is 49 years old, and next year is the troupe's 50th year celebration. I bet they have great things planned. Kingswood Children's Summer Theatre's Mission is enriching lives and changing the world by nurturing public appreciation of and participation in the arts by providing opportunities for public performances, leadership training, exhibits, and community education.

And, of course, everything is overcooked. The menus don't look awful but the food is nothing to look forward to. Breakfast is OK as there is less for the kitchen to ruin. Once they served cold cuts for lunch and that was also OK. Problem is if you stay there you have to eat there as it is quite a distance to any other food. If they could fix the food, like serve food fit for adults, they would really have a great resort.

It was a family retreat I use to go to with my whole family for at least 28 years.... Then I got busy and had a family and one day I plopped my family in the car and took a day trip up there and showed them where I grew up as a child and had wonderful vacations there. If you look at there web site which I just did or go on there facebook page you will see beautiful pictures. I have gone 3 years in a row now to volunteer and help clean up and prepare for there many retreats that are hosted there. The food is awesome cooked daily ,,,breakfast , lunch and dinners !!! Young children,kids and adults would all have a great experience of trying some type of retreat there. You can even plan your own retreat by calling up there and talking to the person in charge of setting something up. It is not a place to go to be disrespectful, its a place to go for peace and fun. When you get there the beauty and scenario takes over and you are in awe of awesome the place really is. I never thought id see this on yelp but let me tell you I give it 5 stars because it deserves 5 stars !!! TRUST ME !!!! Look on there web site as I just did.. They have numerous options to choose from to have a great family vacation or other things !
