I would recommend this gym to any novice or beginner looking to take control of their physical…read morehealth. The trainer, Lindsay, is very knowledgeable in form/technique while paying close attention to her client's strengthens and weaknesses. Bang for your buck; Lindsay is your best bet at this gym. As for the other trainer, Jeremiah, he leaves much to be desired in a personal trainer. I have observed little interest in his client's and more interest in his phone or his social hour friends. However, if you are looking for a gym wherein you can workout to your full capacity as a serious gym person and have all the amenities needed, this is not your spot. If you enjoy going to the gym at 5 AM without the smell of some over cooked preservative meat saturated in ketchup and being eaten by the trainer while training, this is not your spot. If you enjoy a gym that does not play deafening hip hop full of explicit content that glorifies the objectification of women this is not your spot. If your are looking to gym in the evening without feeling like you are walking into a clique formulated and consistent of people there for social gathering purposes, this is not your spot. With all this being said; it is rural Vermont and choice is limited, as such, the subpar can also be appealing. The best part about this gym is that there is a far superior gym only 2 miles away.

My son George (age 12) just loves it here! At Walt Whitman!…read moreWe stayed in a more local camp last year (Covid and last minute with one of his best friends) in sleepaway. This was a compromise as George went with a best friend new to sleepaway who needed a last minute spot. George got back and said never again I have to go back to Walt Whitman - nothing compares! I called Jed and Carolyn right away and explained George's desire! He and the bestie are now going to Walt Whitman for this summer and are super excited! Just great people, great sports, great friends, great counsler a, great food, perfect accommodations a! Just everything is 5 And beyond! The level of service is just beyond compare! Love love love! Jed, Carolyn, Stephanie, Matt and all of the counselors are just the best!!!

I commend the camp for having everything from soccer to art to sing-alongs to sailing. I wish I had been more confident at the time I was there because I spent most of my time feeling like an outsider. I was teased because I had eczema. I was teased because I was different--I attended public school and came from a middle class family. I didn't have the latest and greatest clothing or sports equipment. My last summer there was the worst. I was ostracized by my bunkmates and routinely left behind. Counselors didn't seem to notice but then I was the quiet type and too embarrassed to speak up about what was happening to me. I hope things are different now and I hope counselors are trained to instill kindness and caring in all campers and to address things when they happen instead of laughing it off or encouraging it.

The camp is gorgeous, especially in the fall as the trees start to turn. Weddings there are very DIY, so you'll have to get your own catering, beverages, etc. However, your guests can stay in the cabins overnight on-site which is very convenient and fun. We finished our reception with late-night bonfires. Justin and Stephanie, two camp employees, are super helpful as well. They handled our sound systems, helped clean up from the reception, and were overall wonderful to work with. Plus, your venue fee will go to get supplies for the boys' camp, which is a great cause.
