So, how do you rate an open space? In my estimation, it's typically not the "space" people rate…read morehere - but the event they're attending. However, as far as wide open spaces of nature go, this one is stunning to view in the fall; as is the rest of New England, for that matter. On this day, I made an impromptu attendance to a car show. Which is rich, considering I'm not even a car guy, nor have I ever been to one before today. See, I was actually revisiting an old friend from back in the day. And when I say "way back", I'm talkin' like....grade school! Do you know how rare it is to still be talking to someone from grade school years, albeit sporadically? Anyways, the area is surrounded by various in-house cafés and such. To be honest, I don't know too much about the surrounding amenities since I remained outdoors for the couple of hours I was at the car show. I will say there were certainly a variety of....rather interesting cars on this day. Don't ask me when they'll have another event like this because I only discovered this one via my friend's IG post. Still, it looks like a lovely place to hike, if you're into that sort of thing. It's also the perfect place to temporarily jump off the grid, seeing as there is limited (if any) cell phone service out here. Not a complaint, just a word of caution to anyone who doesn't want to be completely disconnected from society for a day. So, yeah...I'd recommend this space to anyone going for long walks or....whatever else people do out in these parts. Castle In the Clouds lives up to its namesake, worthy of 5 stunning autumn foliage spectacles out of 5.

The venue is a splurge but it was totally worth it for us. We did the whole weekend (Fri/Sat/Sun) and made the most of it with a welcome dinner Friday, Saturday wedding, and Sunday brunch. The venue is really beautiful with tons of greenery and flowers, it cuts down on the money and effort you need to put into decor. We got so many compliments on the venue from our guests. We primarily worked with the owner Deb and as it got close to the wedding, also with her new hire Abby. Deb knows weddings and she knows her venue inside and out so she is very chill to work with and makes sure to account for all the details. Communication was very fast and clear. Underrated but one thing I appreciate a ton is all our communications were in a single email chain so it was really easy to find. Abby coordinated with us day-of to cue us to walk down the aisle and otherwise they were seamlessly in the background. The vendor list we got was a little out of date with some being out of business or not having websites, but we picked a few vendors off the list so it was helpful. Having onsite lodging was great. The master bedroom was very comfrotable and it was nice to have our own bathroom. Most of the rest of our guests got Airbnbs (we blocked hotel rooms and offered a shuttle to Conway but no one took us up on it). Overall I would highly recommend Locke Farms Farm as a wedding venue!

Over 100 years operating as a boys sleep-away sports camp on Lake Winnepesaukee surrounded by the White Mountains, it has some of the best views in the country. The campus, on the shores of Lake Winnipesaukee, is absolutely majestic. Yes, there are some bugs...but that's merely an insignificant part of being out in nature and such a beautifully isolated place! Another truly unique feature of Winaukee is that their camp is divided into a Mainland (for younger campers) and an Island (for teenage boys): this allows for two different, age-appropriate cultures that really can't be found at any other camp. Winaukee is a sports camp - pretty much anything you want to play, they have it, along with skilled coaches and periods throughout the day to train and improve, and a waterfront with all the lake activities you could ask for. The training can be as intense or as recreational as you want, it really just depends on how serious you want to be. Beyond sports, there are so many additional events and activities that give the Camp its true spirit: camp fires, community rallies, inter/outer camp competitions, amazing off campus trips to places like Boston and even Canada, and many other traditions that can only be understood if you've been lucky enough to be a part of them. Unfortunately, any place is going to have occasional unpleasant experiences; however, for about 98% of the kids, they leave in tears at the end of the summer because they aren't ready to go home.
