The museum also offers workshops, after-school programming, a teen apprentice program, summer camps, and even serves as a venue for birthday parties. If you're an educator, check out their field trip opportunities as well as to bring your colleagues to a curriculum/professional development - you won't regret it! The staff here are absolutely wonderful - they are experts in the field, are creative, and are super supportive and collaborative! Support this wonderful museum! There's garage parking right a 3 BMC - this is the same garage where you would park for the Hyatt; park at any unreserved spots and take the elevator to PL - walk out, and the KID Museum entrance will be to your left. Now I have kiddos who keep asking whether we can go again. Just bought tickets to see the Snow Man and the Snow Dog show for the holidays and looking forward to it. Update: Snow Man and the Snow Dog was not loved by the kids (3 year old and 5 year old), personally I felt it was really boring too. High production value but just not captivating enough. My kid loved the original video but couldn't wait for the play to end.

Here is what you need to know: + Garage parking is free on Sundays + Tickets are sent electronically along with a helpful email and storybook pdf that helps prepare young children on what to expect when they go to the theatre + The theatre is truly intimate -- there is not a bad seat in the house (Trust me -- we were last row, on the side of the stage and still had a great view!) + Children's shows can be quite corny and cut corners when it terms to production value but not at Imagination Stage. I was really impressed by the quality of acting and the set of "Dory Fantasmagory." + They offer lots of free programming such as "Meet the Cast", family yoga, and a children's fashion show to go with the play. I went with a group of children ages 4 - 11 and they had everyone entertained. Seeing everyone's faces light up and laughing out loud has truly filled my cup of cuteness for the entire week. Thanks again Imagination Stage. Can't wait to visit again!

This review is for the Mad Science Summer Camp ONLY…read more This business is the kind where they find a place to rent out for a few weeks sight unseen *so the venue can be filthy, falling apart, dangerous as in failing equipment, broken down classroom seating and utensils, and they won't know it. Our camp was housed in a filthy and musty public elementary school in a small classroom. This room was too small for the entire group and so all were cramped. The reality was ALARMING that the instructors function as bodies to direct a script but are not truly educators *so you can have a recent college grad with a BA in History teaching your kid "science" and add to that a person not in tune, or give a hoot about kids, how to educate, nurture nor watch over children. Worst of all and YIKES they do not not pay attention nor supervise these kids, they are hands off if any trouble or accidents happen and they do not report injuries to the parents. These instructors are oblivious about harm done to the student and are more worried about having time to get and eat lunch, drinking Starbucks, being on their phones, etc.* SOOOOOO With that as the preface all I can say is do not waste your money because your child will not learn much science. All they will get is a babysitter who pretends to be a teacher, who if you are lucky feigns cheeriness, add to that the other children in the class will not respect the instructor nor their peers and as in the case of my daughter, get physically injured. SO WHAT HAPPENED? An experiment went sideways and my daughters entire back had the skin scraped off while being pulled by a boy to the point that her shirt came up while being pulled the equipment broke, and the skin came off she was left with a raw back, no attention was given and it was bleeding. The instructor kept her mouth SHUT and only when I went to hug my daughter once I picked her up, did she cry out in pain and showed me her entire back was still bleeding. The instructors were gone by then so I had to wait until the next day. I went up to the main instructor the next day and told her it was unacceptable to hide a severe injury such as what my daughter had suffered and all she could muster was "I AM SORRY I HAD NO CLUE ANYTHING HAPPENED" Huh? Aren't they watching a group of 6 and 7 year olds? And there were 2 instructors for the group. I WOULD NOT TRUST ANY MAD SCIENCE SUMMER CAMP AND I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO ANYONE. ***I find it highly unusual that they have such high reviews seems suspicious and why I question every five star review*** it

Awsome. Great. So glad we found this place…read more This is an excellent place for young musicians to connect with other musicians and to work in Band like settings and perform. Forrest at the Silver Spring location is really great and he extract the most out of the kids in a really positive environment. My son has been to many music schools and lessons over the years and this really is an outstanding program. The best part is it really has many kids who are really musically inclined, talented and willing to work in a group setting. The performances are very impressive and fun to watch. I can not say enough good things about it. The price is very reasonable and they don't pressure you to subscribe to packages or long term contracts - if you pull out you don't pay any more. They focus on who wants to be there. Give it a try - much better than similar programs in Bethesda.

I just ended my employment here after 5 months. I was only afford a couple hours on Sundays for…read morework with the promise that I would be able to pick up more students and days quickly. I was given $15 an hour while working less than 4 hours a week. The lessons aren't even an hour long so i was hardly even being paid to provide expert professional lessons to young children. Essentially I was an underpaid babysitter. On top of being unable to provide employment, my one day that i worked ranged from 3-4 hours a day where i was teaching drums and guitar back to back. I was not given any space of time to switch gears as well as i had to change rooms between each lesson. This was made more difficult by a manager who would pester me about getting out of one lesson to go to the next, presumably because if i went over on the lessons i would then go over on my work time and therefore have to be paid for more than just the minutes where i was in lessons. My last day of employment, I had called in an hour before i was to be there, as I was sick, I had been seeking a day off so as to recover and not come in with an unknown illness that might be contagious. I contacted the manager who proceeded to berate me about her personal issues and was told that because other teachers had called out on other days this week she was unwilling to contact my students and cancel my lessons. I was also told to consume whatever quantity of cough syrup i needed and chase that with vitamin C. I showed up for these lessons, first student didn't even show up. I spent the next two days trying to work out in my head what had happened so that i could contact the manager to follow up without carrying my personal baggage to the conversation. The manager tried to make contact to "discuss School of Rock's staffing policy". I received this message the day after my lessons which i taught while carrying a sickness. As I had missed the managers call, this was the first point of contact she made with me following what had happened, which set me off and so i took an extra day to clear my head, fearing the harassment from my employer of being unwilling to understand or care for my needs as an employee. There was one or two more attempts made at contacting me before what happened next. After three days i received, an email to my inbox stating that my employment had been terminated. I work another job that provides me with just short of full time employment, yet left me availability to work at School of Rock on any day of the week. I had never called out sick prior to this situation. and had been forced to miss/move lessons to cover other people's call outs, mostly made the day of the class or lesson that needed covering. I feel very strongly that I was treated with disdain and profiled as an irresponsible person and made to feel outcast by this organization because of my status as a musician. To the point where i feel that supporting musicians means not enrolling in School of Rock. To my students: I am very sorry that I could not say bye or finish lessons that I had started with you. That is unacceptable.

The Open Gym is a GREAT deal if you buy a 10-pass as it works out to $7/kid per visit and the passes never expire. Like other reviewers have noted, a huge drawback is the veritable toy store in the lobby. I've just always told my girls that they can look but we will not be buying anything there as we visit to play, not shop. So far we haven't had any issues but it is a big distraction.
