I've bought things here occasionally, over a long time period. This time they made me wait months for a delivery during which time I moved, and let them know of my new address, by changing my "default address." They sent it to my old address anyway. Worse, they offered no assitance AT ALL in trying to get the package redirected to my new address. There excuse was that when I bought the item, I gave the (old) address. Wow- where is the logic there?? And, to make matters worse, the customer service guy copped a bit of an attitude with me over their mistake. I had a very negative experience last year on my first attempt to purchase from Camp Saver. I cancelled the order and received a refund. This time was very different. The sleeping bag was in stock. The nice woman on the phone was very helpful and friendly and placed my order. It took 4 business days for the shipper to receive my order. This is within the expectations set on their pages shipping information as some orders are drop shipped. This is one way they can maintain such low prices since they don't have to maintain as much inventory. It took 3 days after that to receive my order. Update as of July 2025. The owners sold this business and it is NO LONGER in Utah. It is now owned by some congolmerate with a call center shared with "Opticsaver" because the rep I called for help answered the phone saying that. NOT a good sign. I ordered an item on early Monday morning. It is now Thursday and it has not even left the area where it was (Illinois). I needed it by a certain date. First contact was via chat--my idea was that I would go more than half-way and drive to Logan to pick it up from the store. The guy might as well have been speaking French. He just kept saying it shipped within the time window. So I call the number. It's a call center for multiple OTHER businesses. The rep is really, really nice, but she can only apologize and offer free return shipping if it does not arrive by this coming Monday. She offered to ship a replacement overnight, but that would have cost $170.00 in SHIPPING. They've lost me as a customer. Caveat emptor. Like all good things, especially in Utah, the owners have cashed out and sold the business and now it is just another crappy online retailer with TERRIBLE service. read more

Didn't honor an online discount coupon they were showing sitewide on a banner. Had an item in cart with a coupon code they were advertising on their site, and had to run to take care of an errand. Went to place an order when I got back, and they had changed the item from being able to use the discount code, to earning bonus in store rewards points so it would be exempt from the coupon discount. Other models/styles of the item still worked with the discount, but not the one I was going to purchase. They are trying to push people to either pay full price, or only get their in store rewards points instead. read more

Beware, they seem to be a drop shipper, or else they carry very little stock. All four of my "in stock" name-brand climbing products are now listed as "We've placed your items on order with our supplier, and we'll ship them out to you as soon as we receive them." There is no indication on the site that most items are apparently out of stock and CampSaver will just back-order from the supplier upon receiving your order. Would never purchase here again because of that. If an item needs to be back-ordered that is COMMON and expected to list it as so. Don't order here. Try Moosejaw.com or some other reputable place. If you dig deep enough, there are reasonably priced products; however, the organization is highly dysfunctional. They took my order on an in-stock item on September 4th but didn't ship until the 10th. When I asked, they whined about scheduling challenges and a glut of orders that came in over a weekend. Then when pressed further, they claimed they have no control over shipping from the warehouse. Customer service seems rough. Perhaps they're all too busy partaking in legal recreational activities in Denver. It's pretty ridiculous when one has to write reviews in order to get a company's attention.  My problem is simple - I need a refund for a broken product.  But the story begins here: After receiving a coupon, I decided to purchase the highly rated mountaineering boot for some anticipated trips in the near future.  The purchasing process was quick and easy, but then the issues started: 4/3: Order Placed4/4: Message: It will Ship Soon4/6: Message: Delayed - Lots of Orders4/12: Message: We're working hard4/12: Order Ships4/19: Order Arrives  So after advertising it would arrive between 5 and 10 business days - it takes 7 business days just to ship the order and then another 5 business days for it to arrive.  No apology, no expedited shipping options offered - just automated messages letting me know that CampSaver is perfectly comfortable having no integrity to the committed delivery time.   Upon taking the shoes out of the box I tried to tightened the laces when trying on the shoe for the first time and the webbing for one of the shoe lace loops snapped off the shoe. Never had that happen on any mountaineering shoe/boot before but needless to say equipment failure of this kind is highly concerning. However the worst part of this experience by far is that after leaving a voice message in CampSaver's 1-800 number and sending an email to Customer Service - I haven't received a response in 8 days.  Nothing.  No acknowledgement.  No update.  Literally silence.   This is likely the last straw with CampSaver.  How can a retail company remain in business if they provide ZERO service?  Well I don't believe it can. read more

Their inventory and shipping times are fanciful dreams. I've ordered from CampSaver many times hoping it'd be different, believing the excuses they give me, and I've finally decided to just give up and know that, well, they're just that: excuses for a poorly run business with a horrible logistics operation that hides behind small text, disclaimers, and plays fast and loose with facts & math. The crux of it is this: if you say you can ship something on time, in a given time frame, and especially if I pay extra for a given level of service, I expect that kind of service. Not in an unreasonable way, I know things aren't perfect (esp in a pandemic/post-pandemic world where labor and other items are still recovering), but every time I order from CampSaver, they never ship on time, and it takes so long I have to call to cancel (and you can't cancel it online despite them saying you can... if you can, I've never been given the option), and when it happens consistently (every time) the excuses about "longer than normal warehouse times" or "product availability wasn't properly updating on our website, sorry, just a one time bug" or similar become really patronizing and just aren't believable, they're either lying or so poorly run these issues are systemic, constant, and they should just not make any commitments. Neither reason is good at all! Sure, they cancel the order and I get my refund eventually (thus not only one star, that's reserved for outright scams...), but this isn't much better. It feels like they take your order HOPING they have inventory (even if they say they have it, I have waited up to 10 business days for it to ship before I just gave up) and if they have it and their warehouse can get it together to put it in a box and send it, they ship it, I guess, but otherwise, they just hold on to your money until you ask for it back. Their prices aren't much better than Backcountry, REI, Moosejaw, etc, but their warehousing & logistics operations are absolutely a disaster. read more

I don't if they just say they have items in stock then just drop ship. After a few days of "processing" I called and was told it should ship soon. Since they offered the free 2 day shipping I figured I still had time. A week went by and the status was still in processing so after contacting them I was told they would expedite my shipping. (Yes. I received an email 3 days later stating the boots were out of stock and I was welcome to view other items they had in stock. I went to the website and the boots I had picked out were still showing available. Why would I pick something else to find out days later they would not be coming. I checked my bank statement to make sure they had refunded my money. They had not so I called them. They were very quick to say, we do not charge until we send. They would not listen to me that the charge had gone through. After asking to speak with a supervisor, she said we tried to refund you, but the redund has expired. Please call and dispute this with your credit card company. They were no help, now I am out $400, I have 2 wait 1 to 2 billing cycles for the dispute, and campsaver pretty much said we are sorry but we cant help you. Worst experience. I should of looked at the reviews before I ordered! My fault for sure. First and last time shopping here. I ordered a Blackdiamond rope bag that came in on time, but the rope bag had a factory damage: the strap for the rope was never stitched to pack. I have understanding that things like that can and it will happen, but why no one ever responded to my emails or answered the phone. I spend $150 for a damaged good. Spend time and money to get it fixed and I have a pack that doesn't look the way it should be and it bothers me. I'm not sure what actually went wrong to have the negative review writers write the reviews they did, but there must be two sides to their stories. My experience turned out to be everything I expect from a quality vendor....placed an order on a Wednesday; immediately received order acknowledgment; packed and shipped the next day; UPS tracking number provided; product received on Saturday. I ordered a pair of Hoka hiking shoes on March 20. The item was not on back order when I placed the order. I didn't receive the shoes until May 13! By then I already asked for an RMA and return shipping label and found another site to buy the shoes (at a cheaper price!) since I was leaving on a long trip on May 19. As soon as I received the box from Campsaver I returned it that day. They received the return on May 17 (per UPS tracking). Campsaver's return policy is that they will issue a refund within 10 business days. 10 business days from May 17 is May 31. It is now June 6 and I still haven't received a refund. On chat with their customer service, they tell me that I will receive my refund within another 2 weeks. They had my money on March 20, and now I won't receive my refund until June 20 - so they had my money for 3 solid months. Absolutely horrendous experience. read more

I ordered a pair of hiking boots. They were too small so I started a return. I called customer service regarding return shipping. The CampSaver website advertises (free returns). I asked a customer service agent Twice if the return shipping was free. He told me Twice it was free. However when I started the RMA (the form they use for returns) on the internet, there was no option for "free shipping" so I had to pay 7.99. I then called customer service and the agent I spoke with was not able to help me. I asked her to have a manager call me. This did not happen. When I received my credit card statement I was charged the 7.99 and I asked my credit card to dispute it; it was refunded by the credit card. Yes I got my money back but my point is Campsaver should change their website (they don't offer free returns) and that was actually one of the main reasons I ordered from them. Shoes can be tricky to buy over the internet. Free shipping helps. I also feel they should return customer calls. I won't be buying from them again. read more

Was shopping around for a new jacket, came across the Marmot Novus hoodie. Looked good, price was pretty comparable to other websites, and at checkout they offered a promo code for free 2 day shipping. The other websites I looked at did not offer this promo (although their Marmot Novus hoodie was listed a few dollars cheaper), so I decided to order from Campsaver on Thursday 2/14. I figured with UPS, it would probably get delivered Monday or maybe even Saturday depending on how fast the order was processed and shipped. Monday rolls around and no update. I check the tracking info and it says it will be delivered Thursday. What? I opted for the 2 day shipping. I get on their website to live chat with customer service, and I am pretty much told "We would refund you the expedited shipping cost, but since you didn't pay for it, you'll get your item when you get it.. looks like it shipped UPS ground." WTF? The money is not the issue, I chose to purchase from this website specifically because they offered free 2 day shipping.. that's a bait and switch if you ask me. Only giving 2 stars because the item showed on Thursday 2/21 and fits/ feels perfect. And that is more so thanks to Marmot, not Campsaver. Will not order from here again. read more

It was supposed to be shipped in a couple weeks. I have received monthly automated emails each month promising shipment on ever increasing ship dates. Sometimes I get an email response to customer service request and/or complaints at least a couple days later. Each time they promise to ship. Sometimes they don't respond at all. I've never been able to speak to a person. Meanwhile they've continuously offered the item for sale. No telling how many people are waiting to get their orders. Amazing top notch service. Very professional email and text notifications and tracking. My package was packed with care tons of bubble wrap and arrived much FAST than expected. Refreshing! I received charges from this company on my credit card. I don't recall ever doing business so I called but they're not answering phones and instructed me to email. I emailed including the charges, the date, some digits from the credit card, and they didn't reply for a week. They said they couldn't find the charge and asked for additional information. Never heard back. This company is at the very least complicit in fraud, but potentially guilty of fraud. I don't even know what they sell but I recommend getting it elsewhere. read more

The backpack they sent me is missing parts from it and doesn't even have straps. It looks like it was a exchange someone else ordered and kept pieces of it. Communication is poor, while they do not have a contact number listed they also do not reply back via email(maybe due to COVID). However, some updates would be nice. My order was supposed to be delivered 15 days ago which obviously did not reach me. Upon checking I found out UPS is sending it back due to missing invoice(silly but understandable error). Initially, Campsaver replied that they will send and provide new shipping information but after 15 days still no updates. Since my trips are coming up, I have requested them for updates via multiple emails, Twitter, Facebook. At this point I am not even sure if I am going to receive the ordered items or refund hence can't plan anything further. Funny thing is even without receiving the item I get emails from them asking how do I like my item :D Obviously they were automated but could have been a better process The thing I found good was a better range of products available at a single store so I ordered from here.
