Uhaul was having trouble filling up the propane tank on my class B van and they suggested I go to camp quest. The technician in there was able to problem solve pretty quickly and I left with a full tank of propane and a weight off of my shoulders, because I was really worried it was going to be an expensive repair. I have bought 2 camper shells from Camp Quest I like them. However, I just got my new camp shell for my 2020 Tacoma. $1900 plus dollars I reached through the sliding window in the cab to assist pulling a carpet into my truck. I got cut badly by the razor sharp fiberglass edge. I needed a stitch but I was unwilling to expose myself to an ER during this Covid-19 pandemic I'm a paramedic and bandaged myself. I called Camp Quest to notify them of the problem. The person that answered the phone could have cared less and blamed it on the installer. The installer did a great job and could not have known of this problem. This is the owner of Camp Quest who should care!!!!! In the market for a camper shell? Great! Just don't choose campquest! After waiting months for my camper shell on the day that I arrive to get installed I was a bit early the worker said 1 1/2 hours- 2 hour wait time. During the middle of the installation the worker took his lunch and ate his burrito on my tailgate! This was a red flag that the company was this comfortable doing this during the installation. On my 3rd hour of waiting the gentleman in line before me received his truck and new shell back only for his back up camera in his truck to longer work. The workers and this gentleman exchanged some Words and eventually took a look at it. After this happened I tried to be more understanding and patient . When my truck was pulled out of the garage I noticed my top brake light to not be working . When I asked the worker to check my lights he told me all the brake lights were on, when I made it home I double checked only to realize he wired the light to my taillights and not brake lights, after I asked specifically! Once again back here to get this mistake fixed. This place has lost there compassion for the business and treat the customers like a joke. Take your business elsewhere and have someone treat your truck and purchase with some care. I've worked plenty of jobs making a 5$ sale treating the customer as good as a 300$ sale. Come here and spend $3000 I guess they forgot to charge me for the customer service. I brought my truck in to have a shell I waited 16 weeks for installed, they told me it would be a 2 hour install in the end it took 5 hours, their explanation was that Fords take longer to install. When I first got there they said a guy that had a 3:30 appointment came in early so what I believe they did was push my 2:00 out. They have been in Richmond a long time but by the looks of the showroom I think they are making it month to month. I won't do busy with them again. read more

I have a Leer camper shell that's really nice but I've broken the bottom skirt on it twice so far. My own fault! I've also broken the tail light twice. Anyways, since I'm relatively new to the area, I don't really have the lowdown about where to get camper shell repairs. I just figured all camper shops were the same. Was I wrong! When this happened before, the first place I took my shell to was in Martinez a few years ago. It was a good shop but I remembered I had to go there 2 times so they could look at the serial numbers and order the parts which I had to pay for in advance.. ok... I can't remember the total cost of ordering a new skirt and light as this was a few years ago but I believe they were well over $450.00 Recently, I broke the light and the skirt once again and once again I took my shell over to the place in Martinez. When I got there and told them what the problem was, right away the guy started telling me I needed to buy a $500.00 new door because getting the remaining broken up fiberglass (skirt) off the glass, was "gunna be too much work" and I might as well just buy a new door because they were only $50-100 more. Long story short, I didn't care for the way this dude whined and didn't think anything of it to potentially charge me (had I stayed) another $50 to $100 more because he wanted to save some time and labor in getting a new door instead. Thankfully, it forced me to look elsewhere. I stumbled onto camp quest a few days later. They didn't need me to come in twice, I just emailed pics of damage and serial number to Cameron. He made an appointment for me when it was convenient for me. They did Excellent work - better than expected! Aaron made the repairs- that dude is Very thorough and fixed all the other small, unmentioned repairs after pointing them out. I was charged an Extremely Fair price and didn't have to hear any whining or complaining. This shop treated me so fair and when I compare it to the other place I had gone to previously, it's a no brainer that I needed to write this review. Jenelle patiently answered my many questions. (I had done tons of research on forums, etc.) Joe quickly walked me through the ordering process on my lunch break, even describing their installation process in detail. Unfortunately I have to give this place a one star. My husband and I are new to owning a trailer and we bought a used one. We took it straight to camp quest so they can help us with lil repairs and tell us more about the trailer we bought because we heard good things about them. Well $1,500 later they told us we were good to go and everything looked great. After this horrible rain we got in Northern California we saw multiple leaks. We decided to climb on top of it and check it out ourselves . Well we found two big holes, broken cover for the air ( that they replaced) & other minor damage I wouldn't be on here if I knew they didn't get on the roof . Well they did to replace sunroof covers and to work on air conditioning . So I would say if your looking for honest work go far from these guy. All we wanted to know was the truth about the trailer . We would have paid to get things fixed .Unfortunately I really thought they would do good work. Even after we told them how new to owning travel trailers . 3 months after purchasing a few parts from the store I have yet to receive my item. I've checked in numerous times to no avail. It seems that each time I call, I get the run-around and something like "we will check into and get back to you." (I have never received a follow up call, I have to call back). Maybe they are busy, maybe they have issues with their suppliers, but the bottom line is that after 3 months and several attempts to locate my order, this should be moved up in priority and handled with some urgency. If I could choose no stars, I would. This review is from a visit made in August 2012 I wanted to support a small local business rather than Uhaul, so I went to them to have a trailer hitch installed. I ordered the part, and paid for it. The guy, after having some problems on the computer, said the part was ordered and would be in the shop in three days. I scheduled the installation for 10 days later. At that time, I ordered a small trailer as he said he was a licensed uhaul dealer. I thought this would be great so I could avoid Richmond Uhaul on the morning I needed it. When I showed up 10 days later, the guy said he had no record of my hitch order, despite the fact that I had the paid printout. He said something must have happened to the order (Ya think?!!). So, I rescheduled the installation for a week later - one day before I would have to use the hitch. I also asked again about the trailer. He said the order was on record and would be available. The hitch was ordered (I called ahead this time) I arrived to have it installed and he looked at my truck and said he would have to install a more expensive electrical connection because my Tacoma didn't come with some part. At the time I ordered the hitch, I asked him if he needed to look at my truck and he said not, that all tacomas are the same and he knows what to order. So, despite all the screwups on his part, he added almost 50 dollars to the estimate. Even before the added amount, this place was more expensive than Uhaul, but I still wanted to support a local small business. Hitch finally installed. 4 days later, I show up for my trailer, and, yes, you guessed it. It wasn't on the lot. He said, of course, he can't promise all the equipment to be available on his lot, so he sent me over to Uhaul, where I was told I was lucky, because they had one of the trailers ordered available, but if anyone had shown up before me, it had not been reserved in my name. The guy said rather condescendingly, that he's a small business and he's doing his best. Great excuse. Avoid this business. You're better off going to Uhaul (hate to say it). But if you must use CAmp Quest, don't work with the guy, work with his wife (partner, ?) he's totally incompetent. She seems to have more on the ball. read more

Was charged an unreasonable amount on an RV battery job and work was not performed as requested. Overall unsatisfying experience. I visited this business to upgrade the coach batteries in my RV. Owner Joe recommended replacing my existing lead acid coach battery with two sealed AGM batteries because one needed to be located in the cabin and the batteries needed to be matched for charging efficiency. The install was quoted as 1.5 to 2 hours max. When I picked up my RV, I was told the install was 6 hours but that I would only be charged for 4. The battery was not installed according to the wiring diagram I provided in advance, another electrician later confirmed. And the batteries were undersized (group 24) compared to what was removed from my RV (group 27) and priced significantly over other retailers. So in the end I got weaker batteries than I expected, didn't get them installed the way I wanted and paid about double what the job should have cost. On expressing my concern about value to Joe, he gave me a 5% discount on the batteries. read more

So if anyone is keeping track, I posted my review 12 days ago. My last email was responded to on April 19th. It is April 30, and there finally a response to my review? It took almost two weeks to finally respond? That's how long it took for this "business" to figure out how they could spin this whole debacle...because I was willing to drive a distance? Yikes! First of all, there are not many places that deal with customization of this particularity, so it's limited. Second, 54 miles is not a great distance to have something installed. Don't flatter yourself. I did find a company who was able to accommodate my father and I with a better deal. I thank you for the opportunity to advertise their business with your response. CUSTOM TRUCK in South San Francisco is the place to go! They have associates who are HONEST and take the time to TALK with their customers. They make their customers feel like they are the only ones there and that their business means something to them. That is the difference between a GOOD business and one that clearly doesn't care about its customers. I didn't lose out with you on some great deal; on the contrary, I got a better deal and better service elsewhere! Trying to muddy the waters by telling people that you were basically overwhelmed by my emails is embarrassing. It just shows how ill equipped your are to handle a business. I was very clear in my emails what I was looking for. There were always two trucks involved. This just proves how disorganized your business is that you mix up your emails. I would hate to be one of your customers and have my order mixed up with someone else's because you can't stay focused. What you failed to mention in your retort was how you begged me, via email, to not post a negative review over, as you stated, "a measly $100 mistake". As I mentioned in my email, it wasn't about the price, it was the fact that Joe was rude with me over the phone and essentially called me a liar about the initial quote. The problem is that I have all the emails still that prove Joe was wrong, yet he couldn't own up to his mistake. I have STILL yet to receive any response from him about his mistake, but again, cowards or dishonest people don't own up to their mistakes. In response to your "venom" comment. Just because I didn't tuck tail and remove my honest review I get called out as spewing "venom"? Get use to it. You're supposedly a business, you're going to have some people who don't agree with your approach or practices (looking at your reviews it's more than just some people). A GOOD business learns from these reviews and accepts criticism so that they can learn from their mistakes and strive to become better. GOOD businesses don't knock or belittle people who speak up about a bad experience. That is the bullying mentality. I appreciate and respect a business who take the time to read reviews, acknowledge them, and thank them for the opportunity to fix their mistake. YOUR business has much to learn on how to treat people. I'm just glad sites like Yelp exist so that people can be warned and avoid having to deal with bad businesses such as yourself. If the consultation in all of this for you is that I was willing to drive somewhere to give you business, well then maybe business is really that bad for you, and I feel sorry for you. You don't have the best deals in the Bay, and you clearly don't have the best customer service either. read more

I brought my F150 to CampQuest early this year for a new tonneau cover. It was the first one I've purchased, so I wanted to browse all of my options before I made a selection. They have an excellent stock of products on display in their showroom that you can put your hands on, operate, and get an idea of how they'll look on your vehicle before you purchase. They're an expensive, custom accessory for your truck, so you should visit the showroom first. I decided on a 3-panel folding cover by LEER, and I love how it looks on my truck, and how it operates. I scheduled an appointment for installation within a week, and when I brought my truck in they had it installed in less than 2 hours. They've got a waiting room with cable TV where you can wait while they're installing. After a few months of use, I had trouble with the cover not latching along one side, so I brought it in for an adjustment. They adjusted the clamps on the rails, but the same issue started happening again after a couple more months. So I brought it back again, and they took care of me that same day and installed spacers for better alignment. While I came in with some frustration, on both occasions I was met with courtesy, and with somebody immediately walking out to my truck with me to see it together and diagnose the issue. They took care of it that day both times, and there was no attitude or posturing about it, just a willingness to take care of the customer. Joe and Jennelle are good people and chances are that you'll interact with one or both of them when you visit. It's their family business and you can tell that they care about their service. Unbelievably rude person!!!! I called to get a 7 way plug and brake control unit installed in my car. I had to call 5 times to get through to someone. Their voicemail says its full so you can't leave a message. When I did reach someone, the guy said he had an appointment for next Tuesday which would work for me since I'm leaving on my trip Wednesday but he refused to give me that time saying he would not put that much pressure on himself to have it ready by Wednesday. They then tried to charge me full price to put the right ones in, in addition to the cost of the wrong model.
