I towed both my friends with my kayak last time, they are wimps! Boats are pretty boring to me, I could never get the oars right. Oh, as of last year, kayak and boat rentals are free. wait... FREE! Even 1 dollar is a deterrant based on principle. Here it is so easy. So THIS is where my tax dollars are going... 5 stars for free kayaks. Love kayaks.

Matt and his team are amazing. Food was delicious and plentiful - many offerings to cover all dietary wants/needs. Staff are all friendly, accommodating, and personable - restaurant, housekeeping, and fly shop. Robbie was my guide for float trip. He is awesome "fish finder" - very patient and lots of laughs. There's a crystal clear creek running through the campground. The creek and the river are magical places for kids to play. They search for tadpoles and other critters and can swim in the protected lagoon, which gets deeper gradually. Finally, you can lay in the rushing river water for the ultimate spa experience. Can you tell we liked it here? The campground is run by a family who has had the land in their hands for generations. They are excited and kind about sharing it with visitors and have created an awesome culture of friendliness and respect among campers and the campground owners. There is a well equipped camp store with everything you might have forgotten and even local pottery. The bathrooms and grounds are very clean. They also run tube, canoe and kayak trips where they'll drop you off upriver and you'll finish at Soaring Eagle. We did a tube float down the river which was the highlight of the trip. There weren't many others on the river with us which was a special thing. They also rent canoes and kayaks. We'll try those next time.

My girlfriend and I spent a few hours here on a Sunday afternoon in May. If you rent a boat you can keep it out as long as you want, and you have access to the whole property for the entire day. We spent awhile in kayaks and had the whole lake to ourselves for the entire time. We then spent some time down at the swimming hole and had that to ourselves as well. Everyone who works there was incredibly friendly and helpful. Beautiful day overall and the perfect end to a perfect weekend getaway.

The park service cut down the owls tree hopefully not killing the owls but removing their home of eight years . Is this what the park service is here for? Who are they serving and how in God's name do they cut down a tree with baby owls in it?
