Do you and your family a favor and move on to any other campsite. 1. The staff (if you can find them) are rude and want nothing to do with you or any issues you may come across. 2. The cabins are basically from 1784 and in rough shape. I'm all for a vintage setting, but leaks and the smell like something died is a bit over the top. 3.The guy in charge who tramples around like your presence is bothering him, completely lacks manners and acts like you and your family aren't even there. We didn't expect them to be overly social but at least acknowledge when someone waves or says hello. 4. This is not the establishment you want to visit if your expecting hot water with your showers. So yes it costs 25cents for cold showers. 5.I blame myself partly because I had an idea what we were in for right after the gate closed and we checked in. But you live and learn and this is one place that will never have to worry about getting our business again. read more

We stayed here for 2 weeks. This is a very quiet, family oriented campground owned and operated by a nice family. It is obvious that this husband and wife team take great pride in their property which is evident on how well they attend to the grounds. Great spot to bring your family. The pool was not operational while we were there unfortunately. Modest camp store but not staffed all the time because they are really short handed. Spacious lots with full hookups. You are somewhat isolated here though. it takes about 15-30 mins to get to any big stores if that's important to you. But if you like a REALLY quiet, starry night campground, then you will enjoy this place! Beautiful river on the property as well so bring your raft !!!! We would definitely come back again! The place is a dump. Dirty, never soap in bathrooms, owners are rude and not accommodating . Even after a discussion with the owners about a severe mouse problem they blamed us and said we brought the mice . Took weeks for them to do anything about it. Lived in a house we rented from them with loose wires hanging all over, holes in the ceilings, black mold ,broken windows, ripped screens on the windows, one room had no working electric at all and the owners knew and still never fixed it . Poor business etiquette & unprofressional service. Lori yelled at my husband accusing him of misleading her. Which is not true. We told her we were having guests, she responded by providing a day rate and then charged my husband's credit card without asking permission first. So if there were an overnight rate she neglected to mention it and the rules that goes along with a day pass such as when the guests should leave when time is up. So instead of speaking with him like a normal human being with some shred of decency decides to cause a scene and begins yelling at him in front of my guests, my children and others around our campsite. Lori did not asked our guests to move the tents nor did she ask if they would've like to upgrade a day pass to an overnight stay as written by owners under Tye R. review (it's a flat out lie) which is something I suggested to Arnold that Lori should have done. Besides, I setup a tent for my kids when I arrived & no one said anything to me or my husband regarding the tent not allowed at the cabin we rented. My guest left because they felt uncomfortable with the situation; they did not leave because they refused to pay or disagree with your made up off-the-cuff policies. In fact, my husband went to the office/general store to purchase overnight stay, if given the chance, but still Lori continued yelling. It wasn't until my husband began yelling at her at which Arnold came in at the same time. He honestly couldn't communicate with her, I guess yelling is they only way to speak with this woman. Arnold said we must leave the premises (after my guests already left and my young children were asleep). They then began telling us about policies regarding a 2 person cabin, which we didn't know was a 2 person cabin; no one told us this until Arnold mentioned it. We didn't put ourselves there, YOUR staff member rented us the cabin. Even if we did call several times & made changes. That comes with the business of customer service. So cry me a river. Also, to say it's common sense to know the rules while camping is a poor excuse to justify the wrongdoing your staff did. It is common sense to setup a tent while camping. It is common sense to setup a campfire while camping. Being courteous is also common sense. Policies are not posted anywhere. I asked several people around our campsite if they know the rules and they did not. Campsite maps are not provided. Campsite rules are not provided. Oh but they are posted on their website as Arnold said which would have been helpful if you have internet service, which they don't, and if they do, guess what, it is not posted. So, I am the 3rd person talking about this incident which makes me wonder what the problem is here. Is it really the customer's fault if we do not follow your rules? We are not trying to hurt your business nor hurt your feelings we are simply pointing out a problem that needs correcting. And if the owners don't see that then there's an even bigger problem here. I guess they dont have any rules/policies posted because they feel they can do whatever they want because it is private property. They can change pricing at any time (which btw has happened to us everytime but we didn't mind because it is a beautiful campsite, we love to support small family business as I too run a small family business plus dogs are allowed which is nice). What IS posted on their tiny yellow receipt is they can refuse service to anyone, so I guess that's just a means to an end. So Arni & Lori please show me the rules I have yet to find them on your website. It should clearly state Policies on your site not hidden away somewhere. And if you need website help I'm your girl! Also be honest with your customers in regards to pricing, surcharges, hidden fees, cabin/campsite descriptions and the ever elusive rules, policies, and regulations. Also some business classes and etiquette would do y'all some good too. Plus the pool is not Olympic size if we really want to get petty here. Also the cabinette (which was rented to us) as mentioned on your site states "up to 3 people or 4 people with 1 queen & 1 twin bunk" is all pretty vague & should clearly indicate which are 2-, 3-, or 4-person cabins. (Fyi the 1st pic under cabinette gallery is the one we rented but the interior does not look like those shown in the gallery). Or is it the bear den, I don't know, because the website layout is really bad. Also campers, please note, each cabin/cabinette/bear den/deluxe ALL have different interiors. Some do look nice though. Arni & Lori correct me if I'm wrong about that & post some updated pics. So I'm pretty sure they're going to respond negatively to this review which they have done to all negative reviews and put the blame on others which comes to show their character instead of taking these criticisms to improve their services. read more

Arnold, your response to Keith is very defensive. Check your reviews on google and compare them to Facebook. Facebook shows 5 stars, but google begs to differ. I was part of this family vacation and I too stayed in a cabin infested with mice. Go look in fire ring because you will see a mouse with his head stuck in a trap that I had to remove from my cabin. As far as the electric is concerned, whether it's your fault or not, be courteous to your guests and be more accommodating. I was with out power for more than 24 hours. A free bag of ice or firewood would have been nice. Oh and what Keith failed to mention was that his grandfather in his mid 80s came down to the store to purchase firewood. Your staff made him truck the wood to his car on his own. Who the hell jn their right mind does such a thing? If it was me, yes I would have no problem getting the wood on my own by 80? Come On dude. I will be honest any complaint I or my partner had, you addressed and I thank you. But these concerns should be addressed by you and your staff before being brought to your attention by your guests. read more

This past week I had the pleasure of staying at Peaceful Valley Campground with my family as we were traveling back to Ohio. The campground is beautiful with incredible vistas of the mountains and what seemed like a mile of river frontage. The campground staff was friendly and informative regarding the local area. We took advantage of the kayak and canoe rentals they offer and spent an afternoon on the river which was the highlight of our stay. We are avid campers and thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Peaceful Valley. read more

This place was horrible, first off we were sent to the wrong cabin, we tried contacting our family who was already there and there was no receptionist what so ever. After walking to the front desk and asking if we were at the correct sight which they confirmed we were even though we weren't. We luckily bumped into our family who was there. Also The front desk woman had a bad attitude and was not accommodating. She did in fact raise up the price from $15 to $25 and then stated if there was room. Honestly we would of paid whatever the cost was to stay with our family and not be kicked out that night. In addition no one responded to her negatively while she was ranting so everyone in the other campsites could hear. That was Very unprofessional of her. This is not how you run a business. I suggest to who ever is reading this DO NOT STAY AT THIS CAMPSITE!!!! Went camping here Memorial Day Weekend with my family. We all had a great time watching the planes flying around, fishing, playing on the playground and just your normal camping activities. We had a full hookup site but they do offer tent sites and cabins, along with seasonal. We had no issues with noise. They offer a game room, swimming pool, laundry facilities, small store, and more. The mountains were in the front of us and the river behind. It was truly PEACEFUL. On Saturday night they had a barn fire and a live country band. This camping site is beautiful, yet it can't make up for TERRIBLE conditions they keep it in. Let's start of with the restrooms and showers, Disgusting and run down don't even begin to cover it. Some of the showers had no hot water at all or barely would even let out any water and to still try and charge to use them and yes it's only .25 cents but it's not even about the amount it's the fact you have the audacity to charge as if they were the best thing around. I've been to other campsites who have better kept facilities than yours but yet my family and I come back every year because of the area but this year will be the last year we waste our money here. We got put on bear island there was no restrooms near by no water faucets like they have in turtle island which was definitely a let down they did have porta potties but they were beyond nasty too. All in all this place only gets 3 stars because of how close you can camp to the river and that the camping area is always found clean but all in all this place needs a complete remodel. OH and to top it off we were there this weekend and last night around 5 pm they cut off the lights and water to the restrooms and at this point we were just over it and didn't even stay the extra day we were supposed to. read more

I wish I could give this place a negative 5 star review the staff here does not care about anything unless it concerns a clear garbage bag everything about this place is horrible me and my family went on memorial day weekend the pool was closed our cabin wich is located next to a barn and junk yard was so bad I dont even know how it passed a ny state inspection everything in it looked like it was fixed by a third grader who someone just through some tools at and said here have some fun just awful broken windows leaking propane no water upstairs no tv a.c. in one room only wires hanging every where o and the mice this place is riddled with mice so what does the staff do they give us glue traps and say here use these so now on vacation I have to play pest control the game room is just sad no effort went into this place there was even a sad dirty old treadmill in the corner half the machines are broken the campstore here is a joke just beer cigarattes and buns so old I could play hockey with them the staff here is so rude while we where here the power went out and we lost water for 2 days the staff didn't even come around and tell anyone about it and if you tried to ask them they would get upset and tell us we don't know anything deal with it I go camping a lot and have visited some pretty bad places this place takes the cake id rather go camping in the middle of a swamp in a pillow fort made by 5th grade girls accompanied by Jason vorhess and the Blair witch this place could be nice they just need new staff that cares and need to lower the price of there cabin rentals by half untill they upgrade them big time every cabin has tons of mice in them and they expect you to trap them and toss them my friends had to sleep in there cars so please think real hard about staying here and avoid it please read more

Last weekend was my first time at this idyllic location! It is beautiful, well kept, clean, and beyond comfortable! If you need a country, quiet get away, this is it! Our cabin was great- we were there for a wedding, so it was nice to be on the grounds of the wedding, and the wedding itself was lovely! My family and I want to come back (we live in FL) to Peaceful Valley so we can unwind, really relax, and enjoy the outdoors without really camping (though there are plenty of campsites!). We truly enjoyed the cabin and would stay again. Additionally, the staff was friendly, helpful, and super accommodating. Next time you want to get to the country, find yourself at Peaceful Valley and find your peace! read more

Let me preface this review; both my husband and I are experienced campers. We tent camped over the first weekend in July with our young son & this was not our first camping trip with him. The good: Beautiful scenery The bad: 1)Facilities are very poor and outdated. If you can get a shower to work there are dribbles of water coming out. No working laundry. 2) The outdoor pool is a nice amenity to have. However, there seems to be no daily upkeep. The pool is in need for regular maitence and paint. (I have sanded and painted a pool before, not that hard) 3) There seems to be no actual assigned camp sites. You are told to go to an "island" and figure it out from there. It doesn't help there are no actual signs telling you the name of these islands. 4) The "fire pits" are old car/truck rim, and each site has a different size. 5) You have to buy wood on site. I understand this practice is normal. However, in order to get the "cheaper" wood. You have to climb, yes physically climb, a giant wood pile. The ugly: There is really no proper managment of the site. There is no enforcement of "quiet time". There was a large party on the other side of the river. According to the rules quiet hours are set bewteen 11pm-7am. Our first night this party was playing loud music with DJ like equipment way past 1am. We asked them to turn it down and were told to NO, because they are awake, and that they have never had a problem in the 30 years they were coming here. (remember this). The next day we told our story to the staff in the office and we were assured this wouldn't happen again and that they would take care of it if this unruly behavior and loud music continued. Later that night not only did this party begin late in the evening but it went later and was increasingly loud. There was no noticeable involvement of the management, and the music continued. Here is the kicker; apparently this particular party happens every year. After talking with other campers we learned that this type of behavior occurs every year, sometimes going until the hours of 3 or 4am. Those that come every year have learned where "not to stay". Now I understood why this party didn't seem to care about my request to be quiet because the mangmenet lets them do whatever they want. When we got there I was shocked on how empty it was for a holiday weekend. I now understand why. If you happen to end up here on this weekend you will be bombarded by music and yelling by those that have the run of the place. We were paying customers who have been to various campgrounds on the East Branch with nothing like this ever happening. Our experience meant very little to those who are in charge. In the end I left the campground feeling like this place was just here to scam the money out of the city tourists who frequent the area. It feels as if this was a very elaborate tourist trap; where the reviews and images shared via Facebook are completely unrealistic. read more

I was also at the cottage at peaceful valley camp ground and yes we did have a lot of problems of course we asked for help when we first got there the whole place smelled like propane should we have just sucked it up? You advertised TV but yet it didn't work and only one room had air that's not what you advertised. And yes we didn't have water for over 12 hours we came with family who didn't have electric or water for well over 24 hours we didn't blame the park nobody came around and let anyone know what happened or asked if anyone needed anything. And yes we had mice should we have brought you down the dead mice for you to see? My nephews had to sleep in their car so many mice in their cabin. A paper plate was covering a switch outlet. We were not rude or nasty to you or your staff just thought the price and accommodations don't match. Just never coming back!!! read more

Amazinggggg family owned campground!!! You can rent a cabin, tent camp, haul your own camper or keep your camper there for the whole season. They have events going on all through the season. We were just there for the Memorial Day weekend and they had the Hillbilly concert and everyone throughout the campground came together at the Event Center like it was one big family reunion. There was a band and the largest bonfire I've ever seen! Everyone is so nice and friendly there. The beautiful scenery is so relaxing and PEACEFUL! And if the view isn't peaceful enough for you, then you can kayak down the river right to the middle of the campground; which is the most calming and relaxing thing I've ever experienced (having a sitter and going without my kids of course lol.) My kids do love the playground, my little one loves the gigantic tire she can climb on, the slides and the baby swing. My oldest enjoys the monkey bars and the large field to do her gymnastics tricks. To top it all off, If you ever forgot something at home, they have their own general store. I've have forgotten things multiple time on my visits and it's so convenient to just walk across the field instead of driving 20 minutes away. Gorgeous campground!! It was so relaxing here!! Seeing the natural beauty really clears your mind! The bathrooms were very clean and always equipped with soap & paper towels. I am not a "camping" person, but I felt very comfortable with the bathroom situation. If you want to escape the busy city life, this is the perfect place to go!! I wanted to like this place, I REALLY wanted to like this place, because it's beautiful to look at. But after my Memorial Day stay here at Peaceful Valley, I can't recommend anyone staying here for a FAMILY camping experience. The owner, Arnie, doesn't have much business sense & could care less about customer service. I've been camping for over 30 years & haven't seen a business in such a disorganized mess. Their website does not have any means to pay or reserve a site. You must call them to inquire of availability (if they answer in off season) & then send them a paper check through the mail to hold the reservation. There is no communication thru email or return phone calls for confirmations. I found out that I was camping when they cashed my check a month later. Also, I reserved a cottage & 2 FULL hook up RV sites. The cottage price quoted on webpage & over phone was $160 a night; however, when checking in, they raised price to 200 without notifying me. Arnie could care less. When I checked in for my RV site, I was not given a site# or a map to find my site. I was told to go past the bathhouse & the sites are along the river. He pointed to another customer buying ice & said 'you're near him, so follow him back to his site'. He then rudely informed me about putting the garbage in clear plastic bags & if I use black bags, I can take the garbage home with me. Why would you talk to people like that? The man I followed to my site said," That's Arnie, he's used to dealing with hunters & sportsmen, so he's a little rough around the edges". Later on when my friend checked in for the other RV site, he was treated rudely also & told to pick ANY site down by the river. When he tried to pick the site next to me, another camper said they were 'saving' that site for their friend & Arnie knows about it. An argument ensued & Arnie was called. When he came down, he forgot about the 'saving' site & told my friend to move his camper to another site. He then informed me, that I had to share MY sewer connection with another camper, even though I was paying for full hook ups. My other family members checked into their cottage, which had mouse droppings under the beds. They were given glue traps & caught a mouse. There was also a propane gas leak. We spoke to another couple renting a smaller cabin, who had mouse droppings on their sheets & they also caught a mouse in a trap, which was supplied. If you're paying for lodging they should be rodent free!!!! There weren't any family activities. The only activity listed was a BEER pong tournament, which shows their lack of business sense. If any negative incident would have occurred during or after that campground sponsored drinking event; they would have been libel & their insurance wouldn't have covered. Then the power went out. For TWO days of the three-day weekend. While this wasn't their fault, the lack of communication was. He never came around to see if his campers were alright or if they needed anything. There were 2 young girls forced to field the numerous questions from angry campers & they were more professional than he. With no power; there was no water. We had to use the cottage for showers/toilet. When the power came back on late on the final night, there was nothing left to do except go to sleep. When morning came, all I wanted to do is dump my tanks & leave. After packing the camper, I opened the black tank valve. Within 5 seconds, water & sludge started to bubble from the ground. It was clearly backed up. I didn't use the sewer the whole weekend because of the outage we used the cottage bathroom. I closed the valve & went to find Arnie. Instead of trying to help by coming down to see the problem. He told me to dump the human waste with toilet paper on the ground & he'll deal with it later. I was so disgusted I had enough. I tried to tell him my frustrations with the whole campground & paying for full hook ups for 3 days & having it for 1 day also sharing with another. He could care less & said he'll give me $5 off a night for 2 nights for a total of $10. I went back & dumped my crap on his site & smiled at the thought of him cleaning it up & paying me $10 for it. If you want a place to stay to hunt or fish, then come back to get drunk and fall asleep, then this is your place. If you're camping with family, please find another location. read more
