The trails are pretty easy and I do love the shredded mozzarella one since there's a lot of little hills to do jumps and have fun with it (no, I didn't do any of that LOL). Fell a few times getting off the ski lift. It was pretty funny and tragic at the same time since I actually grabbed my friend and pulled her down with me. I have no idea what I was thinking but def wish it wasn't so icy and a little flatter would be great haha. Other than that, it was great! It was snowing but it wasn't sticking so the trails were a bit slushy and icy. Again, nothing to do with the location just nature being nature! It was definitely fun. Not my favorite mountain or anything but it was great! The bathrooms were spacious, they even had changing rooms. The lodge itself was pretty cool! LOVED the indoor fireplace. The 2nd floor was where it was at: the bar! These people were amazing, serving away, great energy great drinks. The Jamaican Hot Chocolate was to die for (I think that's what it was called!). Basically spiked hot chocolate with coconut rum. SOOOO GOOD. Plenty of food options: chicken tenders, fries, pizza. You know, easy stuff! Outside there's a little waffle stand so you can go get your waffles before they sell out! Outside space is great too, you can chill by the seats and heat warmers or the fire pits. It's really a great space to even come and watch others ski and snowboard. Would I go back? Yes! Immediately, no! But yes I would :)

There are some great vertical drops. But... this is a mountain mostly for people with experience. I think it was a small family place that has grown and become more popular. The facilities and slopes haven't kept pace with that growth. -Most of the trails were ungroomed -Trails are not marked properly ... something is labeled a black diamond on the slopes, but a double-black on the map -There is one green run for kids and only 2 wide open blues -Most of the blue runs are chutes or narrow lanes -There are 2 lifts only. Crowded in the morning, not a big deal later on Lift tickets -Fairly priced -I accidentally bought tix for the wrong date (Sunday instead of the Saturday were were) and there is a $20 "rebooking fee". Seemed like an unnecessary money grab. The staff person was curt and rude. The lodge -Geared towards families that come there a lot (they get lockers) -Apres ski bar/music thing ... which kind of looked fun, just saying -Small and crowded on a Saturday -It's hard to find a table at lunch. Eventhough there are signs warning against it, people put their bags on tables to reserve them. We sat at one such table for 45 min without issue, and the older couple rudely kicked us off saying it was there, they had claimed it and were theirs. -Another 3 tables were pushed together and taken over with piles of half eaten food and a sign saying "don't touch our food". This isn't your personal freaking dining room. -One kid (12 years old?) mouthed off to a staff member (30's?) who responded to the kid "how would you like it if I punched you in the eye". IDK what the kid said and maybe they are related. who knows -2 bathrooms with long lines and the downstairs one was in desperate need of cleaning. -I got a veggie burger that was not a black bean burger as promised and instead some awful veggie patty connoction. It was ok once drowned in ketchup. -The parking terrible. It's $20 for the better lot, which is unpaved and as it got warmer turned into a river of mud. I'll be hosing off my equipment and clothes for sure. Otherwise, the 2nd parking lot filled up and people had to park a 1/2 mile down the road.

They really encourage you to make it your day, and it's a truly customizable experience. There is no fixed menu, or seating arrangement, or timeline. They work with you throughout the planning process to make everything your own. Mark and Leigh were incredible every step, not only were they able to comfortably answer all of our questions but everything went smoothly on the day. And Chris in the kitchen is something else, hands down one of the best chefs I have had the pleasure of chatting with, and if he offered, I'd be at his table every night for dinner. Another saving grace is that the venue itself doubles as an airbnb for you and your loved ones. You rent the house for the weekend, and it has 8 bedrooms to divide amongst your bridal party. It really helped me to let loose on my day knowing that my bed was right upstairs and that the Spillian staff would handle the cleanup. They also hosted our rehearsal dinner and morning after brunch, and it lessened the load to not have to plan two separate events with different vendors. Now let's talk about the day itself! I didn't have to lift a finger. My husband and I brought along decorations and signage, and expected to have to do some organizing ourselves. But the Spillian staff were there Friday night when we were unpacking asking what everything was and where we wanted it, and it was packed back up for us by Sunday morning. On Saturday, they went to work putting everything together for us. It was beautifully orchestrated by Spillian's coordinator, Sam. We can't thank her enough for making sure that our rainy day wedding went so smoothly, we barely even noticed that we had to shift our plans within 30 minutes! Originally, the whole affair was meant to be hosted outside, but persistent rain (it is the Catskills after all) had us moving the reception indoors. They had the whole event setup outside and moved it all inside in record time. By the time photos were done everything was set for dinner. They even offer a late night bonfire if that's your thing, and thankfully we were still able to light it in the rain. Overall 35/10 Have your wedding here, stop questioning it.

The additional $10 per day pay for a nice view spot is worth it. Our location is on the very top where we have a view of the mountain and the reservoir . This tiny cabin fits all the basic needs. Bed, kitchenette with cooking supplies , dining table, a small ref , stove top and toilet and shower with a view. A cute big window next to bed is the main attraction of the cabin. For two consecutive mornings, we stayed longer in bed and enjoyed the beautiful view from our window. During our nighttime stays , we truly enjoyed the campfire. Woods, starter and s'mores are supplied. I am still waiting if my credit card will be charged for these provisions . I read a review posted which was before Post Card Cabins was bought by Marriot that they hit a charge for these supplies plus for some snacks and drinks on the kitchen countertop . The Adirondack chairs outside are comfortable . The picnic table is perfect for a nice dining outdoor with a beautiful nature vibes. Our cabin area was so serene, we had a privacy as the next door cabin is hundred feet away from us. Western Catskills is a perfect location for us as our goal of coming here was to escape the city to relax and reset during the stay. If you have same goal, this kind of setting is recommended for you. This is your escape place.

We reserved the place just in time for the autumn peak season in the area. The place was about 2.5-3 hours drive from where we live, the trip itself was delightful due to the colorful leaves on trees that we passed by. The charming retreat was easy enough to find with the help of GPS. There were several tiny cabins in the compound which were designated with names so that guest could easily find them. Cabins are far enough from each other to provide privacy for each separate guest. Be sure to drive slow when in the compound as the ground was a little rough. Each cabin guest has a designated parking spot which is neat. The cabin that we were assigned to has several outdoor stairs, a short walk from the parking spot to the cabin, cabin is situated on top of a hill which gives guest a nice view from the cabin. Outside of each cabin, they provided a fire pit, picnic table, 2 lounge chairs and fire logs with fire starters. For us to get in to the cabin, they provided us with a code so that we can electronically unlock the door. The cabin was cute and tiny but they have provided all the essentials which included a comfortable queen's bed, small table, mini-refrigerator, a kitchenette, two burner stove, coffee supplies, kitchen utensils, paper towels, complimentary smores kit, coat hooks, toilet paper, towels, body wash, conditioner, shampoo, flushing toilet, hot shower and a few more. You won't believe that all of it could fit in that cute cabin. They kept the cabin tidy and clean. The best thing that I love in the cabin is the large picture window, my wife and I had that feeling where we sort of just wanted to stay in bed, cuddle and stare at the nature outside the large picture window. In summation, my wife and I had a wonderful time at this tiny cabin compound, we had a peaceful campfire each night that we stayed, savored the tranquility of the place, took pleasure in touring the small town of Roscoe, admired the nearby reservoir, found joy in hiking some nearby trails, appreciated finding/exploring covered bridges and had fun visiting a nearby brewery. Our overall experience was relaxing, peaceful and an exceptional escape from city life, with minimal-to-no Wi-Fi or TV, which encourages disconnection and quietude. DEFINITELY, DEFINITELY RECOMMENDABLE !!!

We were supplied with everything we needed to be comfortable during our stay. We had access to a paddle boat, kayak, paddle board and fishing poles. We caught 5 different types of fish and saw all kinds of wildlife while we were there. They allow 1 team party and we had the boys over to fish, grill and play in the river. I wanted something historic but decorated in a way that wouldn't make a young, Manhattan-based couple feel out of place. When I came Catskills Escape, I was hooked. The 1865 farmhouse is restored beautifully and decorated with simple elegance. We stayed in the Ginseng Room, which had eight windows (eight!), a secretary desk I wanted to take home with me, and a bathroom with a claw-foot tub. The photos from the website were accurate, though I found the room even nicer than the pictures implied. The owners and their children were very welcoming. They made us a Grand Marnier Soufflé for breakfast, served alongside homemade granola and fresh fruit. Randy, one of the inn-keepers, pointed us in the right direction for a walk where we saw newts and deer. He also let us know about the Franklin Farmers Market, which we visited Sunday morning. At his recommendation we tried the cardamom twists, which were delicious. I'm already trying to come up with another excuse to go upstate and stay at Catskills Escape again.

Street parking was convenient. The building is incredibly cute with a nice porch and some cozy indoor spaces. The room and bed were comfortable. There are four sites/types of dwellings (you can view photos on their website - I don't even want to post too many to not spoil the delight and surprise of discovering for yourself): Forest Belle, Bellfire Tipi, the Birdhouse, and Cosmic Nomad - which is the wagon we stayed in as it's the only one that sleeps four with 2 beds (double queen bunks) and is perfect for a little family. It is decorated like a gypsy caravan and is so cozy, cute, and comfortable! We marveled over the exquisite and intricate workmanship of the carpentry, the folksy & fabulous interior decorative design, and the charming little touches that elegantly express the love and labor that have gone into the creation of this magical place. It's so full of personality and wonder! The surroundings are stunning, with amenities such as a sun shower, sauna & cold plunge, yoga deck, private fire pits, and plenty of space to roam around the fields or stargaze. Even the bathrooms are adorable! One is assigned to each cabin. The area is peaceful, lush, serene, and private. Being used to camping and not glamping, I packed way more than I needed (Rich was kind enough to give us and our multitude of bags a lift in his golf cart as our cabin is at the very back of the property). Pretty much everything you need, apart from personal toiletries, are provided - comfortable bedding, grill & charcoal, picnic table, fresh water, paper plates/cups & bamboo utensils, single burner stove, tea kettle, etc. There is also a sweet little gift shop that sells firewood and some handmade items. The hosts could not have been lovelier or more hospitable. Mina even gave us some eggs from her hens! They are such an inspiration, as is this gorgeous slice of heaven they've brought to life. It's a great place to get away from the city and relax in nature, especially if you enjoy outdoors activities. There are a few small, sparse but cute towns in the vicinity, with good restaurants. Nearby there's the Catskills Scenic Trail, Mount Utsanyantha Fire Tower (cool views), Mine Kill State Park, and other local trails. And you can also hit up most of the 3500 peaks within a 30-60 min drive (Balsam Lake, Big Indian, Slide, Hunter-Westkill, Indian Head, Kaaterskill wilderness areas). Absolutely love Bellfire...it has my highest recommendation!
