The decorations in most B&B's don't really appeal to most people in their mid-twenties, especially male. I wanted something historic but decorated in a way that wouldn't make a young, Manhattan-based couple feel out of place. When I came Catskills Escape, I was hooked. The 1865 farmhouse is restored beautifully and decorated with simple elegance. We stayed in the Ginseng Room, which had eight windows (eight!), a secretary desk I wanted to take home with me, and a bathroom with a claw-foot tub. The photos from the website were accurate, though I found the room even nicer than the pictures implied. The owners and their children were very welcoming. They made us a Grand Marnier Soufflé for breakfast, served alongside homemade granola and fresh fruit. Randy, one of the inn-keepers, pointed us in the right direction for a walk where we saw newts and deer. He also let us know about the Franklin Farmers Market, which we visited Sunday morning. At his recommendation we tried the cardamom twists, which were delicious. I'm already trying to come up with another excuse to go upstate and stay at Catskills Escape again.

Fell asleep to the sound of the wind in the trees, and woke up in the morning to a wonderful breakfast of homemade granola, yogurt, and blueberry pancakes. Homemade soups, awesome chili, fancy Chicago Dog on worlds best bun, incredible and HUGE chicken salad sandwich all served in quaint (but not too "foofy") dining room in old classic home. New Berlin looks like its fallen/falling on some hard times, hopefully this quality place survives! We will plan our next trip up to make it to a Friday Fish Fry, I'm sure it will be wonderful. One tip, hard to tell its a cafe when driving through town, so keep your eyes peeled!

I was greeted by a very pleasant young host, and she quickly found a waitress to take my order. I figured I would have some time while waiting, so I started to explore other areas of the building, besides the front hallway. There is a nice little cafe/dining area consisting of (I believe) two rooms, and there were also people dining outside on the front porch, where the tables have umbrellas. This old building has charm, and I think they have guest rooms upstairs. Just as I began poking around a room that I realized was an antique shop, the waitress came and found me, and my dinner was ready. Definitely a nice experience at this place. I took the food home, and I was satisfied. The very large piece of haddock was nicely breaded and tasty. The baked potato was also very good - I think it was baked with sea salt, resulting in a very flavorful skin. The cole slaw had pineapple in it. I thought this was weird, but when I finished it, I definitely wanted more. I think this meal cost $12 and change, and I felt that it was a good value. This is a solid spot for Friday fish fry, especially considering the surrounding area. I'll be back, not only because of the food, but the service and character.

I went to a wedding in Fish Eddie and stayed here for only one night. We communicated through emails. Becky replied nicely and upgraded me to a queen bed room. Since I drove alone and not familiar with this area, she gave me a lot of useful advices and checked the routes for me (the bridge closed so I had to detour...). The next day before I left, she cooked homemade breakfast and let me take my time enjoy my coffee even though it was a little bit late. Usually I'm a very picky guest, but I love this place so much! Feel so thankful for her warm hospitality. Can't wait to go back soon! Highly recommended!!

From our first interaction with the owner, Becky, we had nothing but an incredible experience. We called to book the weekend, and since it was after the high season of summer, she gave us a special rate for two nights in the Honeymoon Suite. We sent her in a deposit, and called her the day of to confirm the best time of arrival. She was completely casual and accommodating and said to just stop by whenever. When we showed up, she gave us the tour of the Suite, which turned out to be the entire basement of her home! We had a private entrance, a working fireplace, a full ensuite bathroom with an incredible shower setup, a huge sectional sofa that could have fit at least eight people, a master bedroom with a queen size bed, as well as a second twin bedroom that we did not even use. Perfect if we ever go back and bring more guests with us! After we unpacked Becky invited us upstairs for wine and cheese with the other guests. I thought that sort of thing only happened in movies! She gave us some great recommendations for places to go for dinner, and asked what time we would like breakfast in the morning. When we said we were flexible, she said warmly, "well that works for me, you don't need reservations here!" The next morning we had delicious, strong coffee, I had eggs with green peppers and onions with oat nut toast, and my boyfriend had stuffed French Toast, two huge slices of Italian bread glued together with fresh sliced strawberries and ricotta cheese. We even started the meal with two generous slices of banana cream cheese coffee cake, some of the moistest, sweetest start to breakfast that we have ever had. Later that afternoon, she invited us back up to the kitchen for tea, and, you guessed it, slices of the leftover cake. For our second day, she surprised us with souffle apple pancakes, a cross between an apple pie and a pancake, a delicious, buttery, crusty sweet and savory concoction made in a cast iron skillet. Not only that, but since we were the only guests that morning, we had to eat the entire sinful cylinder ourselves - oh well! We washed it down once more with plenty of delicious coffee and some of her homemade sausage that was made locally. The estate her house is on is simply gorgeous, and is adjacent to rolling green pastures where her horses live. While there is no horseback riding (bummer), you can walk up to the fence to see them grazing and take some breath taking pictures. Her dog, Milo, a Sheltie, is a delightful host's accomplice, who loves to play fetch and get petted. We had a lovely, relaxing weekend in the country at Becky's Bed and Breakfast, and cannot wait for next fall when we return.

Every inch felt welcoming and comfortable for our family of four. The waterfall at the Stratton Falls campus was absolutely stunning and incredibly relaxing. A special thank you to Chuck for making our Mother's Day weekend even more memorable than we could have imagined. From the cookies and coffee to the kids' welcome packets, every detail reflected warmth and care. We could not imagine a more family-friendly and welcoming experience. Our bagged breakfast was missing a few items we ordered. That really was not ideal, as we had a long drive ahead of us to the city. So we ended up having to stop to get a couple of things since what we planned on having was not there. Also, the wait for someone to be at check in was long. We went to the Stratton falls first accidentally. It's 2.5 miles from where our location was. Apparently, the guy at check in saw us and knew we were at the wrong property (they were full at that location) but didn't tell us when he saw us. (We didn't see him). When my son finally found someone (that guy) he said "I saw you when you came in and knew you went to the wrong place...". Ok.... So you just let us stand around for 12 min, before we went searching for you? He wouldn't even give us more than "it's down the road." Directions to the other place. That guy was an awful first impression. The lady at our location was lovely, but he made the initial feeling stick with me. So, customer service sucked because of him. I had friends that came to meet us from 30 min away and had to wait an additional 20 min thanks to that guy. Would I suggest it? If the service continues like it was... no. Fun themes though. I hear they moved to new ownership, so maybe that's what is going on.
