We headed over to Rec Park just to relax and see the carousel, which was unfortunately closed. We just walked around and enjoyed the beautiful setting. Plenty of open space and with a beautiful pool, ball fields and tennis courts with multiple paths to walk around. I especially like the huge playground with not just one but two areas for the kids to play and climb and wow... they were all out enjoying the the pay structures and using the slides. This is just a lovely enclave in the middle of a city to find some nice resting and strolling areas. I hope to come here one day and be able to take advantage of the free carousel. KUDOs to the city and those who maintain the wonderful Rec Park.

My wife and I were headed to the Ross Zoo but opted out at the last minute due to the rain. This place is not designed for a couple of senior citizens to walk around but since I was here I decided to take a look outside. The outside walk through was magnificent and I could see my three grandchildren (one girl, two boys) truly enjoying all the touch and explore exhibits. Sound, flowers even a small playhouse. This type of exhibt really forces the children to use their sensory abilities including their imagination. One obvious observation is the tremendous use of color here. The design will surely captivate the children KUDOs to the team of the Discovery Center of the Southern Tier.

The huge gym, the heated pool, the large outdoor playground provide so many possibilities for the children's learning and playing. We came in the morning on a weekday. Unfortunately, a lot of the animals were napping (lots of nocturnals) but we still have a nice time. This zoo is in a park and there are a lot of trees and shades -- it doubles as a walking path. I noticed that there were lots of benches throughout, which is nice. There was also cute decor like gnomes, fairy gardens, and animal statues. Standouts were the sand cats, penguins, lemurs, and red pandas. There were wolves, arctic foxes, and lots of other neat critters. At the front there's a petting zoo with sheep and goats, and you can feed them if you buy a cup of chow from the gift shop. In the gift shop, I noticed they sell art prints made by the animals, which is super cute! I noticed a bus stop across the street, so it seems accessible by public transit. The park its within has a lot of really neat play features too, so you could definitely make an afternoon of it. The price is right. It's only about $10 a ticket for admission, and like $2 - $3 for petting zoo food. Which, in this economy especially, is fantastic. Cute place. Worth checking out!
