I'm surprised there's not a lot of great reviews for this establishment. Maybe there's a new chef? Because we were there between seasons (leaf peeping and ski season), we weren't expecting much. It was a little quiet, but both service and food were excellent. I like hanging in ski lodge establishments, so we thought it was great. I wanted comfort food, so I ordered the meatloaf. I initially thought that what was delivered to me was not what I ordered, two small steaks, wrapped in bacon. It was in fact the meatloaf, veal pork and beef wrapped in bacon, with a great sauce over potatoes. We're hoping for snow and to visit the Camp again. read more

Good place to gather apres ski - decent food (really good burger....) wings are also good. We've been there multiple times - Chicken Caesar salad - fair (I agree with the other reviewers - not sure about the chicken in there....). Salmon was good - nothing to write home about but tasty. Other salads are pretty inventive and fresh. Bartenders tend to be very helpful and attentive. Curtis makes a great Rum punch. A little pricey compared to other locations in the area - but we'll definitely be back. read more

We have wanted to try Camp since we first read about it, so when we were thinking of a place to go tonight our whole family was game. When we walked in, it looked like a fun place - lots of Campy/Lodge decorations give the feel it'll be casual and good food. We got there around 8pm on a Thursday night. We were told they were busy, but they found us a table in the back of the restaurant. It took at least 15 minutes for a waitress to come by. She walked by and said she'd be back, but we didn't see her again for awhile. We figured we'd better order quickly. I asked about the wine selections and she didn't know much about the wines. I asked for a taste of the two Chardonnay's they had and she said "no problem". She walked by 3 times saying she'd be right back with the wine tastings. At one point she said they were too busy to pour tastings. 45 minutes later the tastings finally arrived, and both were very disappointing I asked for the "house red" and she suggested a $16 glass of their signature red. I ordered another option on the menu and it came about 15 minutes later. All in all we waited well over an hour for food. The soup of the day was small and not to my husband's liking. The Ceasar salad came without his favorite anchovies because they were out. My Chicken sandwich was good. The kids' Mac and Cheese was pretty good too. By the time we left it was late and everyone was grumpy. Not our favorite dinner. On the plus side, the decor is fun, the menu is varied and offers something for everyone, except if you like fish there is just one option. Better come on a Tues or Wed because we're told that Thurs - Sun they are slammed. At least so says our waitress. read more

Went in for a quick lunch at 1:20pm before leaving Sunday River after a great weekend. Drinks came in a timely manner and we got our order in for food within the first 20-25 minutes. After that, the experience was HELL. The waiter told us that one of the meals we had ordered wasn't available anymore 40 minutes after we ordered!! The food came extremely late with our waiter barely being seen even near our table. All in all, we left Camp at 3:35pm (2 hours and 15 minutes for lunch). If it hadn't been the final night of the New England Forest Rally and I had not been surrounded by racing drivers and good friends, I think my experience at Camp might have been much worse. When we visited they had a very, very limited menu which was in use just for the Rally. They must have assumed that all Rally fans eat crappy sports bar fare because that's essentially what they were offering. There were a few more interesting things on the menu like a scampi but the pasta was completely undercooked and it tasted more like a thrown together stir fry than a well-thought pasta dish. The girls at the table all had the same avocado caprese salad which included exactly two slices of avocado and about 1 ounce of chicken. One of the guys at the table had the flatbread which turned out to be the most successful dish of the evening. Like the food, our server didn't live up to expectations. The two positives: very large pours of wine and a cute, though almost overdone, cabin/camp theme. Camp is in the main hotel so there's not much chance of avoiding it during a trip and I'm sure that once the season is in full swing, things get better.... read more

We didn't expect much in this small ski town, but Camp was fabulous! We were seated immediately at a great table. We were right next to the private party room which looked very nice. Drinks were great and our waitress(es) gave super suggestions when it came to our entree orders. Food came out promptly with nice presentation and we all enjoyed tasting each other's meals. My only suggestion is to share an entree-- portions were very big (however you might consider that fitting after a long day on the mountain). A crew of us went for a late dinner after a full day of skiing. We were delighted to have a diverse menu with seafood, steaks and vegetarian choices - plus local beers and original libations. I ordered the "camp burger" which has to be the best burgers I've ever had: a sweet and tart sauce, perfect bacon, pickle, fried onions and, of course, the burger itself, on a superior bun. So good, I am returning tomorrow for an encore. The rest of our party had equally delightful meal/s, including a generous new england seafood chowder, venison steak, lobster BLT sandwich, and...I forget what else. But I won't quickly forget the ceasar salad that accompanied my burger and a few of the other dishes. Again having dined in a number of fine restaurants, none offered a better ceasar salad than the one at Camp. The lettuce was ice cold and crisp; cheese was rich and tangy - not the usual fare at all. The restaurant was mobbed and so the service lagged, but the wait staff were extraordinarily professional and attentive and our patience was richly rewarded. read more

Nice decor, friendly waitstaff - especially Katie - but the food is spectacularly overpriced. Dinner fare is tasty but not worth the high prices, and the $23 per-person cost for a mostly cold breakfast buffet is robbery. Look elsewhere unless you're stuck in the hotel. read more

Breakfast is included with the room but we had to wait for breakfast BOTH days, because there wasn't enough staff for the number of tables they have. The food is okay at best but the wait is ridiculous! End of the boarding season and there aren't many people up here, yet they're understaffed?? Hit or miss. First day breakfast was excellent. I had the egg white omelette and my family had the buffet and loved it. Next day food was horrible. Went for dinner on 3rd day and my salad had rotten tomatoes into and it was supposed to have more then lettuce, tomatoes and cheese. When I inquired about the missing items in my salad the wait staff said "sorry, I guess we ran out." No inquiry in the kitchen no attempt to remedy at all. While wait staff are friendly they seem clueless about customer service - at one point I was sitting for 25 minutes for my check and no one to be found, so if you are in a rush I do not recommend. On my last day at at breakfast The food was great on the buffet but I waited so long for a wait staff to get a glass of water that I ended up finding the water pitcher and poured myself! Only thing good about our food was the bread and butter. Small servings of wine, some food unappetizing looking, wilted, broken, limp and not everything listed on menu served with item. Not going back. The waiter was ok, but that was it. They should have the server pick up plates so that they know how much food is left. The food was quite subpar. For example, we ordered spicy wings and got sweet ones, and the meatloaf was sweeter than most candy. Not only that, but it took over an hour just to get the appetizers, and an hour and a half for the main course. Stopped in on a long drive home, very disappointing! Ordered swordfish (quite bland) and a caprese wrap. The wrap had old chicken, no basil and could not be eaten as it was sopping with a tasteless oil..not the truffle balsamic as the description says. Breakfast is overpriced and underwhelming for $24 per person including taxes. Came here two months ago and complained about the pan fried potatoes. Not everyone likes so much pepper on all their food. Came back today, I guess the recipe calls for a cup of pepper to a pan full of potatoes - yuck! We wouldn't have come back except it is the end of the season and we needed to empty our prepaid card. Staff was great, no wait. The cook at the egg station is very nice. We arrived an hour before breakfast was over and the place was out of most of the cold breakfast options and we had to send out a search party for cream for our coffee. But there was plenty of pan fried potatoes and black pepper. Coincidence? I think not. read more

Let me start by saying I don't usually review places, but I always read them. Even though the reviews weren't that great, we just didn't want to leave the hotel, so we decided the menu looked good and we'd give it a try. We ordered the blueberry bbq chicken wings and those were really good. The Maine board left a lot to be desired. Fast forward to dinner, the steak special was not bad, but a very bad cut of meat, lots of fat and gristle. My husband ordered the cedar plank cod (and for someone who likes a lot of flavor and spices) it was AWFUL! It was a "would you like some cod with your salt" scenario. Come to find out, our friend who ordered the scallop dinner, who said he likes a lot of salt, even felt as though it was overkill. Lastly, my other friend ordered the chicken Caesar salad, and it wasn't terrible, but it was all dark meat (very odd for this dish which is usually white meat). In other words, if you have any energy to get out of the hotel or another option to choose, I would suggest going with it. This was not somewhere I would come back to....at least for dinner! read more
